I would also have to pick Loam. Not only does it open up several strategies in the format, but it is the ONLY (mono)green card in the pack. If nothing else, it makes all your Terramorphic Expanses that much better.
Guys, this just means, with 99,999999% certainty, that Thoughtseize is either in M14 or Theros (or Born from the Gods/Journey into Nix at worst). Let's relax.
There's still the chance that Earwig Squad or Thoughtseize could be uncommon... Alright, that's just wishful thinking.
Honestly, I'm more upset about Damnation's exclusion than Thoughtseize's. It's such an important effect to have in limited, especially when Faeries will be running rampant and Molten Disaster isn't getting the job done. I'm still holding out hope for Wrath of God though.
My apologies for any problems anyone is having with the patch. I checked over it and it has worked fine for me without any errors whatsoever. I've dealt with problematic patches before and I know how frustrating it can be.
As Detharmonic said, if you try to install this patch without uninstalling previous versions of Gatecrash, it will not work, so make sure you have done that first. I'll be sure to add that to the instructions.
If anyone who is getting an error figures out the issue and how to fix it, please post it here so I can correct it in my patch.
I don't want to step on anyone's toes that have been working on this, but I have the patch completed and checked over for errors, so I thought I would share it with the community. Happy testing! -MJ
Patching Directions:
1. Get a Back-Up Master Base.
2. Put MWS in Deck Edit Mode.
3a. Click on the Library (Top Panel or Left Panel), save.
3b. Analyze/Add/Remove Sets
4a. Remove all previous versions of Gatecrash from your database.
4b. Add Gatecrash with key GTC.
5. This should say added 1-249 cards.
6. Click a card in the left hand column (top), from the library, then go to File, Save Deck/Library.
7. Here it still won't work and gives the error. So close MWS, then reopen it. This seems to do the trick.
Is anyone else experiencing the crazy server errors on MWS the last couple days? I haven't finished an entire game once. Just get these errors anywhere from 2 seconds to five minutes in:
<System> Session Lost
<System> Disconnected
Yes. This happens from time to time. Usually I just wait and eventually it will work again (hopefully).
Trading Post is basically Goblin Welder in this deck. It's very very good. Also, if you're playing a Trinket Mage board, you should be running Tormod's Crypt over Nihil Spellbomb. We aren't producing black mana and the ability to drop them both on turn 3 is invaluable.
I played this deck for a long time when SOM first rotated in. Trading Post puts it over the top, and I look forward to brushing off my Architects for the summer.
I was having problems with MWS today where I was unable to connect to the online server to play online. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it, which fixed that problem, but now I have a new problem.
After I reinstalled MWS and the gamepack, I opened MWS to find that hundreds of cards are missing from the master base. I was missing the entire sets of Scars of Mirrodin, New Phyrexia, and M12. What is even more confusing is that I'm missing just parts of other sets, including Rise of Eldrazi and Alara Reborn. But yet I do have the 105 cards from Innistrad that I added with the patch in these forums before I uninstalled the program.
Any idea what could be causing these problems or what I might try to fix them?
EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. I was trying to save the program under the same name as before. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it again under a different name, and now it appears to be working correctly.
When you Cascade into Crime/Punishment, you can only really use Crime. With Punishment, you can only set X = 0, so unless you feel like destroying tokens, this isn't so good.
Crime is actually a pretty good spell to cascade into. The number of creatures you'd want to reanimate in the format is pretty high, and with the amount of discard and destruction in the deck, you're sure to have a good target by the time you cascade into it. Punishment is just another amazing and versatile removal spell to play from your hand.
The premise of this deck was to try and abuse the relationship between cascade and split cards. It started out with more cascade spells, including Boom/Bust and even Assault/Battery, but eventually worked its way down to a typical Jund build with more of the cascade interaction than normal. This may seem like your average Jund deck, but the way it plays can actually be quite different.
Also, I'm surprised I haven't seen Rise/Fall in more decks. The semi-Hymn ability can be back-breaking.
I can see that working, but if your opponent has board control, even a recurring Reveillark might not be enough to break through. Even something as simple as a Leyline teamed with a Wurmcoil Engine could spell doom.
Bile Urchin, Merrow Witsniper, and Death Cultist all suffer from the drawback of having to target your opponent, so a Leyline of Sanctity could really cause you problems. I would suggest Mogg Fanatic as one of your two choice win cons. Works just as well, but if they do have the Leyline, you can at least clear away all their creatures and just attack in til they're dead.
