Ehh, that ships already sailed. All the spikes I know have rediculous EDH decks, Oh look, I'll pack my deck full of every counterspell, draw, and creature stealing card that exists, and then use Joira to suspend Emrakul into play, you lose.
that's nothing compared to the EDH where I'm from.
Honestly what I'm hoping for with this is that they make Knights a W/G build so that Knight of the Reliquary could fill the Foil Mythic spot, because honestly, it is really the only Knight I can think that even deserves to fill that spot.
Dragons no doubt will be mono-red. As for the fact that almost all dragons are Rare, the descriptions hints that goblins help the dragons out, so I wouldn't be surprised to see 2-of Dragon fodder, and little goblin filler like that. And Dragon Whelp. Cannot forget the Whelp.
if you look closely at the booster display box, the people in front of the wurm are what look like a human male with his arm raised (thinking of the Vulshoks from Mirrodin 1.0) and then to the left of him is what looks like a female leonin.
I could see it being a card similar to Covetous Dragon. The art has the same sorta look, a dragon hunched over in a "Dont get too close to my stuff" kinda way. Also, with the whole thing about it being printed in M11 but Scars being the set that has to deal with artifacts, I think that would still make sense, cuz Vampire Nocturnus was in M10 with like 2 other vampires, though it works best with the Zendikar vamps.
Oh also, my thoughts on the whole protection thing that people have been discussing...
White: Demons and Dragons (obv)
Blue: Dragons and Hydras
Black: Angels and Hydras
Red: Angels and Sphinxes
Green: Demons and Sphinxes
I think the only real difference with mine is that I didnt see anybody else post Hydra, and havent sets been working their way into making that the mythic green creature? Not as frequently as other types, but still.
I think that Wurms or Beasts would be a much more viable candidate for Green. I mean if you count the number of Hydras in core sets vs the number of Wurms/Beasts, it pales in comparison.
my shop got these and we found that they indeed fit 99 Dragon Shield sleeved cards, as well as one of those older card sized life counters perfectly. Which is amazing because we love us some EDH at our shop.
quick question; mostly on topic.
Speaking of Chase Rares, did we ever find out why there are only 248 cards instead of 249.
I know it was speculated to be something simple with the print sheets. Was this confirmed? Or is it possible there is an 'easter egg' card?
I'm pretty sure they confirmed that there is no easter egg.
with the set being the size that it is, I think it is gonna be beneficial to buy a box. Just to get some of the good stuff. Me personally, I'm gonna try to save up enough to get two, but I might just save some of that money to do this 24 hour draft my local shop is gonna be holding.
that's it.
I'm buying all five.
that's nothing compared to the EDH where I'm from.

you can run all that in Super-Standard now.
that's at least what i want to try and run this next "Extended" season.
OT:
Imperious perfect is a great Elf Lord. It makes you play elves differently than you would if you were playing with Archdruid.
besides, the art is waay better.

for reference, we sell them at $4.99
I'm pretty sure they confirmed that there is no easter egg.
But I do not see it taking the place of my Oracle in EDH
I for one would be down with some Return to Ravnica shenanigans.
