I have seen a few similar deck lists here but I think they could be more refined and build less around Pestilence, though it is an extremely powerful card. This deck obliterates agro and can grind out delver. I also found dead weight to be a great removal spell and getting it back with Auramancer is a fairly good Flame Tongue Kavu. Temple Acolyte and perilous myr are also amazing defensive two drops and stack well with the other removal. Exile seems like a nice rare removal made common in ME, does it ever see any play?

Other cards I want to try are Heavy Ballista Seraph of dawn Pith Driller Faceless Butcher and Dimir house guard but there are a lot of fours already.

There are a few slots that could change, maybe squeeze in some augur of skulls or some other draw engine. The board is quite rough, let me know what you think.

Doesn't Tron play four relics? I can never rely on my yard vs them, and don't see Crucible as an auto win, more like u pull it off once they claim it or exile an edge (that also must be drawn) in the yard. I realy just prefer the tempo plan vs Tron, it's to hard to lock them out of the game.

I'm a big advocate of making the various forms of UB and UBx control better in modern. Here are some effects I'd like to see.

    Temporal Severance UB
    Instant
Counter target spell. If that spell is countered this way, put it on top of its owner's library instead of into that player's graveyard.
That spell's controller loses 2 life.

Memory Lapse is an excellent card. It has a better late game than Remand because they cannot just recast the spell immediately. I have this card related to Memory Lapse in the same way Countersquall relates to Negate (i.e. - loss of life). They could just reprint Memory Lapse, but new stuff is always nice.

    Subverted Bond B
    Sorcery
Each player sacrifices a creature unless he or she pays 2.

It's Innocent Blood specialized for the early game. Black really needs this type of effect to be able to work in a legit control deck.

These are cool but Innocent blood probably doesn't need any nerfing and should be in modern. I totally think dimir needs a boost in modern, stupid bolt makes all the black removal look like trash!

    Death Void
    1UBB - Instant
All creatures get -3/-3 then exile all graveyards. Gain 1 life for each creature exiled this way.

I don't see how this is realy to OP or anything, it goes into a verry specific deck, just fighting fire with fire for all the inane stuff green gets.

    Dark Pulse
    UB - Instant
Draw three cards then put two cards on the bottom of your library in any order.

Can't we have some cheap filtering for control? what the fark?

Crucible is an ok card it's gone up in price to much to be worth it for primarily a mirror tool and this deck should start to fade in popularity a bit now. I prefer to blank the claims Tron will bring in and just fight them with spells, the permanent based hate never seems to work out vs them.

Some how I never realy liked elspeth in modern control, I certainly tried he a fair bit, but to many decks just ignore her. She is better when you are getting beat down than ajani but he can gain you life and is a lot more dangerous when your are ahead or vs creature light decks, and he has a lot of support from the spells in the deck.

The deck started with a black splash, the mana is just to fragile especially with all the ld flying around now.

I reeealy wish WotC would just take this over, so stupid they let these fools manage it. This is a constructed format like any other and especially in 1v1 a VERY real format there needs to be an OFFICIAL ban lists! If people want to play banned cards in "house rules" that is fine but there needs to be much tighter control for playing vs randoms online and in real life, its an extremely common scenario and simply how the game works.

I used to LOVE commander, now I think its the biggest pile of trash because of gaping power disparities between players decks and broken card draws.

Please please WotC at least create a "commander duel" format and bann the fark out of the stupid cards like you did with 100cs!

Crypt incursion is certainly a decent SB card I have been looking at, it can gain you a ton of life for its cost and even hit some persisters! I usually just resort to Batterskull and Tribute to Hunger to try and get some life gain going that also effects the board.

Chapins new list looks great, It always seemed that 26 land was not enough and the relics are the exta mana bump the deck needs, you have so much draw and card power that not getting enough mana is probably the easiest way to lose with this deck.

Interesting list though I think you don't have enough cheap interaction and I am not a fan of Iona. The deck I am trying has Sun Titan main who can get back a Vedalken shackles and tec edge. I also like tribute to hunger more than verdict. Whit sun zenith and two cliques are prolly not necessary if we are on the Norn plan. Pact of negation is too bulky as well make some room for some disfigures and spell snares.

Out. Resto, Clique, Iona, Pact, extraction, G verdict, zenith, teachings, tower, shizo

In. 2 disfigure, 2 Spellsnare, tribute to hunger, Esper charm, ghost quarter, urborg, Sun Titan and something cool for him to get back like a phantasmal image, finks, or Shakles if u can get in more islands.

I'm curious as to how relevant steam augury will be in here. It's great card advantage, but giving your opponent the choice will result in a lot of cards in your hand that won't do much of anything. I think if you're playing augury, you'll probably want 1-2 Mystic retrievals in your deck so your opponent doesn't just bin your ultimatums and leave you with no win conditions.

Hahah then just play gifts in the first place like I said. Seriously really enjoy the combo with Mystic Retrieval its quite powerful in this deck. Basically take Cheons build cut 1 cruel and one teachings for a single gifts and retrieval. Mybe cut a snapy or cryptic for a second gifs. I dont know why every acts like all opponents start the game with a DRS and Ooze in play.

The hydra is cool but really not a giant problem unless you are mono U. Just make some elspeth tokens to chump or doomblade the thing. It is a powerful but more fair card than it seems. Great sideboard card.

Also I am waiting for the surprise return of buyback on some pump spells even if its next block to enable Heroic...

Yea I think Gifts is a great way to go with Esper, and it was infact a deck in the format for a bit. The four color versions emerged with DRS adding a lot but u can just play more control cards and not build arround gifts so Hard, you don't need to play four.
I have a sweet hybrid I am working on with artifacts as well featuring lingering souls, bubbling cauldron, and vedalken shackles!

Top control etc and especially a card like neither void are PRISON decks. They don't seek card advantage but to simply lock the opponent out and do no interact with the stack.
It is splitting hairs but theese terms meen specificaly this to the vast majority:
Control=counters, removal and card draw, with many decision trees.
Prison=permenant based combos to lock the opponent out of the game.

Yea comparatively Valacut is quite clearly a combo only card that can not win before turn four. I would like to think the same is true for thopter sword but I suppose it is more of a warping powerful control engine like punishing fire, visions or even blossom.

Yea not exited for dissolve, we already have condescend that will scry 2 and reasonable at 2 or 3 mana in the early game where scry can help the most. I ran and enjoyed dissipate when there were more lingering souls. The thing is two mana counters are far more crucial and cryptic is far to powerful to not play so the three mana ones kinda take a back seat and Counterflux sees a fair bit of play now. I want Exclude in the format!

Scry 1 realy is pretty worthless as a one off random effect. 2 actually gives you some choice besides "do I not want this?". More exited for the scry stacking in Standard.

Dat new slagg storm though WOW!! This is my fave card for modern so far by a mile.

I do not see anything getting cut from this deck for Steam Augury, the decks curve is already overly high. If you only played combo decks I guess you could cut revelation but the upside of Revelation is sooo much higher and the entire deck supports using it on turn 8+ where it pretty much flat out wins you the game. Think Twice lets you efficiently use your mana in between plays.

What card do you think is more powerful, Steam Augury or Cryptic Command.... ?
If you didn't answer Cryptic Command maybe you shouldn't play this deck.
One card will be new standard legal and the other is considered an overpowered design mistake.
