I've always been a Valakut player, and I was glad to hear that this bad boy is back and I can finally dust off my deck and break out the old flaming mountain for some more modern fun. I reconstructed the deck, and I'm currently working with this:
And then a sideboard with general variant hate. I'm still working out a lot of the kinks, but So far I'm 4--0 against a mirror match, won by a boundless realms, against some sliver variant, against Jund, and then against white weenie/Sands/life gain.
If anyone would like to suggest tweaks, we can reshape my deck and start constructing a new "blueprint" build for Valakut.
To an extent, the Dragon could actually have immediate impact once it hits the battlefield. If you have another dragon in play, attack with it, you get the 6/6. I really like him and I hope I pick one up out of a booster or something. Probably eventually make a casual dragon deck or something.
Broodmate dragon puts two 4/4 flying in play for 6. Better than trample.
Broodmate wasn't in an environment where you could blink it and get another token out of it. This could definitely be dangerous. GW midrange blink could be a powerhouse, and it will definitely be worth keeping an eye on for the future.
I'm sure we will eventually see some Male Angels and Female Demons, but I wouldn't expect the change to last. I'm sure there out there. After all, The Multiverse is endless, and so are its possibilities, right?
I understand, thanks everyone for making things a little more clear to me. I wish instead of exiling, they would shuffle it back into your library. That way you could still potentially use it again, but it breaks the infinite combos up.
Hello everyone. I just wanted to discuss the new card from Return to Ravnica called Treasure Find. Here it is:
Treasure Find GB
Sorcery (Uncommon)
Return target card from your graveyard to your hand, then Exile Treasure find.
It's a pretty decent card; it gets your most powerful spells and creatures back at 2 mana. However, my real question is this.
Why is Wizards afraid of the graveyard so much? Why do they keep exiling all of the cool instants and sorceries? Are they afraid of the card advantage? I don't see why there was a need to exile this card after use. Sure, you can keep returning the same card back to your hand, and use Pyroconvergence to make a sick deck, but that's hardly powerful.
We have seen wizards do this before, too. Temporal Mastery is another good card that you have to exile after use, although I can see why this card would be a problem as opposed to Treasure Find.
I hope this does not become a trend among good instants and sorceries. What do you guys think about this?
Golgari charm is pretty much what we needed. The Hellkite is so awesome. I don't think it's constructed playable, but Holy Toledo, Batman, can that thing become an awesome problem!? Plus, the artwork is really cool, too.
Why did you create this post? Is there a draft that we can do to practice already? Or did you just make this yourself? And I would pick the Shaman btw.
Uhmm why does the Ravnica Set symbol look funny? Like it has white fringes. I hate to be the skeptic because I want this card to be real, but I'm just saving us all from a large let down. Possibly.
A green/blue mill deck seems like a reasonable place to have this card. I actually really like it because it's not super expensive and it has a pretty powerful double effect. Perhaps add black, too. Forbidden Alchemy, Tacker's Instincts, and Mulch can dump cards in the yard while getting the ones you need. Idk what kind of deck you'd want to play. Control most likely.
Not at all. I want Emrakul that can be cast from the graveyard.
No.
I just want something that isn't just a Scavenge vanilla fatty. Jarad isn't that good, and Corpsejack Menace isn't even considered a fatty. I'd just hope to see a good green/black graveyard recursive monster.
4 Valakut
4 Evolving Wilds
2 Forest
4 Stomping Grounds
12 Mountain
3 Scapeshift
2 Life from the Loam
2 Boundless Realms
4 Explore
3 Search for Tomorrow
4 Cultivate
4 Bonfire of the Damned
4 Primeval Titan
4 Inferno Titan
4 Viridian Emissary

AWESOME! Just what I asked for! I love Valakut! Exciting news, to me, at least.
