We can only pray that the decklists are good... Please be on power level with Jace vs Chandra or Elspeth vs Tezzeret. Knights vs Dragons was okay too...
I doubt they will put a $100+ card into a deck like this and lower the price of it in both the market and secondary market
I'm pretty sure that was sarcasm...
And for everyone who's saying that these should not be at the power of event decks, we know. They're not the same product. Event decks are designed for a competitive standard deck right of out the box. The duel decks should be at least decently competitive though. People don't want crap.
I think the current theory is that the fifth art is either a land without any guild influences visible or a special land that's a full-art panorama that's right-side up when tapped.
I really like this theory and I'd be totally fine with those lands!
I'm pretty sure any of those commander decks would be worth getting for only 10 bucks. I wish my local Walmart did these sorts of things; I never bought a commander deck and I missed out; a deal like that is one that I surely wouldn't want to miss again!
If only I could have someone get one for me and send it to me...
Or if only they had them at my Walmart...
Thank you for the information though; I can only hope that they have them around here as well!
This has *got* to be better than VvK, right? Riiiiight!?
Wizards claims that they made the decks both new player friendly and exciting to experienced players. Hopefully that means that they included some cards worth something and decklists that actually make sense and have a few of the key components of a strategy.
New guildmages would be just as fun, seeing as how they could redesign them to interact with the new mechanics.
I could see the Shocklands coming back, and maybe up to 3 other reprints per set. Other than that I think it's asking for too much. Signets, no. They're just... Cool and all, but that's so many slots to fill!
All this talk about purple mana is nonsense. If anything, it would wind up being like the Eldrazi, most likely, and be limited to a singular set, where they could contain it. I don't think that will happen though. At least I hope it doesn't. I think the colors are perfect the way they are without needing to add another color.
Okay, here are my thoughts on the lands. I believe that each guild will receive a basic lands for each of its colors. For example, Rakdos will get both a swamp and a mountain that look "flavorfully" appealing to that guild. Spikes and fire and blood and all that stuff. The same goes for each of the other guilds; Selesnya gets a Forest and a Plains, Golgari get a Swamp and a Forest, etc etc. This leaves us with five basic lands left over, which leads me to believe that they will just be "All-Guild Friendly" lands; perhaps basic lands that look as if they could belong to either one of the two guilds that occupy the colors of that basic land.
Doesn't that make sense?
As for the extra spaces, perhaps we will see utility lands for each guild? They are always welcome in my books.
Mark Rosewater isn't a bad guy; I think he has creative ideas. It's hard for us to understand what is going through the designer's minds, because what we want and what they think we need are often different things, so we meet on borders. We all love you, MaRo, sometimes.
He writes awesome articles though. I'm excited to see what he will be doing for Ravnica!
The mechanic has to synergize with Hellbent however. I don't see how Life is going to do that?
Either way, my curiosity has been piqued.
- Hiss.
I don't think it has to synergize will Hellbent. I remember reading that some of the mechanics may lead to good connections. How could you pay life in order to help out Hellbent anyways? Hellbent won't even be making an appearance in the set, so don't think they have to work together perfectly.
Honestly, we all know that they can't reprint all of the goodies again. As cooled that would be, it's just not going to happen. However, I would love to see a bunch of new cards that we can all come to love just as much as the old Ravnica favorites.

Things that are not like Lithophage.
We can only pray.
I'm so excited!!!
Fingers are crossed.

Hopefully we see another Solifuge for Gruul, but this time it has Hexproof
I don't think it's uncommon though. It looks rare to me.
I'd like to believe he's coiling it back like an "S" how serpents do before they strike. You just can't see it because of his frills.
Either that, or it was just a bad alteration on the artist's part, but I'm going to stick with the first one.

I know right? Let's just throw in an Elixir of Immortality for each deck and call it a day.

Pay life, discard your hand? Now what? Lose?
I guess it's fun to call it the real "sleeper" of standard though
