It is hard to identify colors based solely on the names. Looking st last years precons, Merciless Rage sounds easily like it could have been mono red. Primal Genesis could easily have been mono green plus any other colors. Mystic intellect could have easily been mono blue...

My point is there is a lot of wiggle room in a name. I think most of us can identify a few of the colors, but I wouldn't think too hard because chances are WotC will slip a color in to fill a gap as long as it plays in line with the strategy and theme of the deck.

I do think that because it is 5 decks this time around, they will be doing an even distribution of colors and likely a wedge situation or possibly 4 colors. It seems like a good chance to go back to an even cycle, especially because we have two more commander decks coming out with Zendikar that will likely be unbalanced as far as colors go.

What I would find interesting, especially with how one would keep track of something such as this, is if mutate effected the card and not the permanent.

Put an aura on the creature and the create dies, both go to the graveyard.
Equip a creature with equipment and the creature dies, the equipment falls on the battlefield.
Perhaps mutating a creature will stay with that creature even if it is bounced and recast; killed and reanimated? There have been a few legends with similar abilities, like that one zombie, the experience counter commanders, or Mairsil, the Pretender, but never multiple creatures doing such things marketed in the same deck.

I would imagine they share the same properties as +1/+1 counters, for example. I feel like it is easier to track if the creature loses those abilities after it leaves the battlefield.

If we are basing anything off of the Commander 2020 deck names, which are set on Ikoria, they appear to be wedge colored. Narset could appear due to the potential of a Jeskai wedge here.

In addition, I think that it's important to remember it was not too long ago when Wizards tossed out Oko and made a planeswalker that was overpowered. Narset appears weak, but we are used to Oko.

I imagine mutate will come in a variety of forms:

    "Whenever this creature attacks, mutate."

    "[Activated Mana Ability]: Mutate."

    "Whenever another creature dies, Mutate."

Just hoping we don't get some infinite shenanigans...whenever you mutate, mutate! Or even whenever your opponent mutates, mutate.

I imagine they will try and weed out those things. Even though there is an occasional slip up in R&D, we haven't had a mistake that bad in awhile. They're doing a decent job.

Eh.... it's a foldable card. bunny

I recall some other TCG had one. Force of Will maybe? The card was a legal size but wen you did something or another, you took the card and opened it like a book for the bigger creature inside. Sucks for those of us that actually, you know, sleeve their cards. :p
Interesting idea. WOTC actually started to print foldable cards in the 2nd wave of the Transformers TCG that they also produce

My OCD peaked at the mere thought of this

An idea based on mycosynth lattice. Does this work the way I intend it to?

    Saproling Network 1GG
    Enchantment
Permanents you control are Saprolings in addition to their other types.

    Hey look

It wasn’t just the boosters that they took photos off

Sadly there were smart enough to flip the big card the wrong way and censor the color combo so we still have to wait

But isn’t funny it’s he same box color as Yidris deck and that’s a 4 color deck

    .... 4 foils?

Whoa didn’t see that they upping it to 4 new legends

So 20 new legendaries for commander? Wow

Maybe they're foiling out the legend in the deck now that's usually not all of the required colors to be the general. Like uhh, Xancha, K'irrik, etc.

    So...

wizard: we have printed this 3 cards. They are 50$ on the secondary market, so pay us 40$
also wizard: yeah these booster have only 12 nonland cards and the other 8 cards are basic lands. You should still be paying us more than a normal booster because printing more cards is still expensive
    people with a brain: complain
    fanboys: REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Do we know that these will contain more than one basic land? I was under the impression you shuffled some of the 40ish cards in with 20ish external basic lands.

Also, if the packs contain more rares than regular packs or better cards in general, I think the 3 card difference isn't that big of a deal.

Despite the current upset among the MTGSal population about product overload, I really like the concept behind these packs. Grab two packs sit down and you have a deck (I'm guessing you still need basic lands). It still contains the random factor of a draft or a sealed event, but you have less potential to get screwed. It also aids new players by most likely having cards on curve that work well together, but also attracts old players for the new cards, reprints, and random excitement of an "instant" deck. I'm really excited to try this out. Probably one of the better new products MtG has put out in awhile.
