I feel like they could have eeked out at least 2 more dungeons to make some more diversity. 3 feels like too few in my opinion.

They better have plenty of cards that can venture into the dungeon otherwise this will feel like a dead mechanic. People are saying it's parasitic; I think it should be looked at more like a modal ability for the creatures that venture. However if there is only a few creatures venture, then it will flop.

    The Tarrasque 5RRGG
Legendary Creature - Elder Beast (M)
    Trample
Whenever The Tarrasque enters the battlefield or attacks, choose one:
    - Destroy Target Non-Creature, Non-Planeswalker Permanent.
    - The Tarrasque fights target creature.
If the Tarrasque would be destroyed or put into its exile, put it into its owner's library third from the top instead.
    9/9

Just an idea for Forgotten Realms. I figured it could be Legendary simply due to its rarity and power in the lore. There was a lot of ways I could have went with the design of this thing. I could have opted for Ward, Hexproof, Protection, and/or Indestructible, but I thought the last ability does it enough justice all around in protection. I figured the Tarrasque was good at destroying everything in its path, so I opted for the fight ability and an ability to munch on lands and artifacts and stuff.

    Imo, it should have been:

"Choose a creature. That creature's controller sacrifices it."

Gets around a lot of protections.

    • an ability that cares about attacking with a certain amount of power of creatures

This is quite similar to how Warlord Saga of the Storm ccg made the interaction to defeat their dungeons.

Like, in Warlord the dungeon template is:

    Challenge Rating X
(during your turn as a action you can tap any amount of characters you control with combined lvls equal or greater than the dungeon's challenge rating. If you do, you defeat the dungeon and remove it from the game)

    Static Efect

WotC could have used the same template but instead of character lvls they could have used creature power and the need to attack for defeating a dungeon.

Almost like a Planeswalker; a card that can be "attacked" to be destroyed but also gives you a lot of power and is an enchantment? I could see that.

Modern Horizons 2 has barely hit the shelves and the next round is already being loaded. Take it easy Wizards.
I'm not interested in this set at all so it doesn't count for me tvh

There's quite a few sea monsters in D&D, so I wouldn't disregard it entirely yet!

I for one agree that dice rolling will be the new thing.

I think that dungeons will be enchantments that let you roll a dice once on ETB and once whenever you enter the dungeon, getting an effect based on how high you roll.

I think that big T Will have a high ward cost, will get some combination of haste and/or trample, and will shuffle itself into your library when it dies. Also, it will be mythic just because.

Maybe they'll use the ol God Eternal Bontu death/exile clause. Seems fitting for the hardest creature to destroy in D&D. I hope it's also insanely big; like an 11/11 or something (just picked this number because of the card teaser).

Orcus is a demon, not a devil (at least the last time I checked)

Also, let’s not ignore the Tarrasque in the room. Do you guys think big-T will be red, green, or Gruul?

I would hope for Gruul, but Mono Green could work as well. Could it be an indestructible/hexproof creature? I would guess so.

    Lair of the Lich
    Land
Lair of the Lich enters the battlefield tapped if you control two or more lands.
    T: add B.
4B: until end of turn, Lair of the Lich becomes a 4/4 Black Zombie Wizard creature and has "whenever this creature attacks, return tsrget creature card from your graveyard to your hand."

Tasha’s Hideous Laughter is interesting. It is certainly strong when you consider that against some decks with really low curves or a very high land count you might end up exiling 1/3rd of your opponent’s deck, but I’m not sure what constructed mill decks would want this. Standard rogues doesn’t really want to use this because their cards care about the opponent’s graveyard being full and a big part of what makes Modern Mill decks tick is the card advantage from visions of beyond and disruption in the form of sugical extraction and drown in the loch.

At first glance you’d think this would at least gives Modern Mill a mill spell that doesn’t care about sideboard shuffle-in eldrazi, but even then sidboarding in Emrakul, the aeons torn is still not bad vs Tasha’s Hideous Laughter since Emrakul adds a 15 mana value hit, possibly making this into a 3 mana tome scour that exiles rather than a card that can “mill” more cards than archive trap.

What about a control deck that aims to mill instead of use something like a typical control finisher? That would be something I'd be down to try. Mill typically wants to empty libraries as fast as possible, but honestly just slowly grinding out an opponent might be just as good. Plus, it's a cheaper spell to cast meaning you can hold up counters earlier in the game to protect it.

I've been thinking about cards I love that have essentially just faded into the masses of new magic cards over the years. There are a lot of cards like this, and I am sure that y'all have some cards in mind.

For example, one of my favorite cards that I designed one of my first decks around was Hellkite Overlord. I played a very Timmy deck during that time, but now that I play a lot of EDH, I think this card is still useful. I would love to see it reprinted, however it appears that it has just faded away.

What cards do you love that have never/rarely been reprinted?

Arcbound is funny you want 5 counters or a 4/4 with haste.
Salvaging is awesome for madness with the correct timing.
Echoing return is going to be powerful in some decks.

Rats decks will love Echoing Return. Even self-mill decks might like it just to snag multiple copies of cards.

After all the crab cards I was expecting a mythic rare crab. I suppose this works, but it doesn't have that same pizzazz that a crab would.

I would probably play this over Reclamation sage in a lot of my decks. It gives you an etb trigger and a death trigger, puts a body in the graveyard, and is technically cheaper.
