    On the left hand/satanism concept....

Within the realm of the Occult there exists "the Left Hand Path", it embodies those who choose what is traditionally viewed as "evil" as their path. Brothers of the Left Hand Path seek out power, wealth, fame, whatever their heart desires. They set themselves up as their own Lord and seek to manipulate, invoke, evoke, and ultimately seize control of anything and anyone that can help them further their specific cause. The notion of "the greater good" and concepts such as "seeking God's will" are the least of their concern.

I always thought it was some sort of Angel. Reminds me of a Biblical description of what an angel might look like.

Thanks for all of the replies and the decklist. I've finally been able to come up with a few more Ravnica era Warp World decklists via extensive web searches... They definitely weren't as fierce or as much fun as the Warp World Revolution variants and then the later Alara/Zendikar variants. I am curious to read up further on the old token ownership rules, though.

In a 3 way free for all game would it be friendly to Nevinyrral's Disk your own Kokusho, the Evening Star, and then Yawgmoth's Will them both back to do it over again? My group disagrees with this play and has since banned me from playing at my own dining room table.

    I'll take pictures.

That is crazy. You are telling me that no one is holding a Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshares, graveyard removal card, Disenchant, Naturalize, Legacy Weapon, Counterspell, none of that? Come on. Sounds to me like you have a bunch of very bad players in your multi-player group.

This decade. Lets be honest, everything that has come out this year has sucked. I hope I end up eating my words, but this has been a year full of garbage music.

I disagree. Just to name a few albums that I really enjoyed this year...

Danzig- Red Deth Sabaoth, or is it Deth Red Sabaoth? (Evil Elvis crooning away, again)
Cradle of Filth's new one, Venus something or another (another slab of good Cradle tunes)
Dimmu Borgir- Abrahadabra (loved the truly symphonic direction they took symphonic black metal)
Ozzy Osbourne- Scream (moving on without Zakk was a smart move, Gus G has given Ozzy a new life).
Eminem's new one (not much of a rap fan, but I dig Eminem)
Burzum- Belus (solid slab of Burzum from Varg Vikernes)
Avenged Sevenfold- Nightmare (the first Avenged Sevenfold album I've ever purchased, I'm impressed)
Finntroll- Nifelvind (another great slab of European folk "metal" from Finntroll)
Six Feet Under- Graveyard Classics Volume III (the original Cookie Monster and company just keep on churning out records)

It was a good year for music. And we get to kick off 2011 with a fresh album from Social Distortion. No complaints from me.

The thing about "good music" and "bad music" is that it is all relative. I can find music from every single decade that I absolutely love. Whether it is the Rolling Stones or Garth Brooks, Hank III or Black Flag, Ice Cube or Elvis, Danzig or KISS, Burl Ives or Patsy Cline, Amon Amarth or Mayhem, Turisas or Wagner, Poison or INXS, Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath, Nirvana or Taylor Swift, the Melvins or Neil Diamond, Boris or Lita Ford, Six Feet Under or Deicide.... Good music is always out there, always available to be discovered. Will the stuff on the radio always be what interests you? Surely not, but people are always out there making music and experimenting. Find what you like and listen to it. Whether you like what I like or not, I don't care, after all... It's just music. It ain't life or death.

My thoughts exactly! The OPs deck is dying for a playset of Call of the Herds. They can be acquired very cheaply these days. I remember when they were going for $20 a piece many years ago.

Bwa ha ha ha! That is too funny! I actually thought it was going to be a fake story like you'd read on the Onion or something like that. Looks like this story is legit. That is one of the most bizarre things I've heard in a while.

I understand that he isn't going to be worth a black lotus, but his price right now is above that of revised dual lands. Will this keep, or should I trade him off now while I still might get something out of him?

I'm fairly attached to him, The best pull I've ever gotten out of a random pack. I just wonder if this artificial attachment isn't going to end up costing me in the long run.

Understand that anything I type here (and anything typed above by others) is purely an EDUCATED guess using the best available information and the trends of other cards that rotate out of Standard.

If you don't have a desire to play (or access it sounds) Standard and would prefer to trade a Jace for a dual land or two (you MIGHT get lucky and get 3 or 4 of the less valuable duals for him), I say go for it. While Jace sees some limited play in Legacy (I don't know about Vintage as I don't play it), he isn't played in the same manner as he is in Standard. My prediction (based on the trends and precedent of the vast majority of "money cards" that have rotated out of Standard) is that Jace TMS will drop in price after he rotates out of Standard. I'm not saying that he'll drop to $5 or anything like that, while I think he'll probably hold strong at $50 or so, I think the odds of him maintaining the $100 price tag he has now are incredibly slim. Dual lands on the other hand? Those are just about guaranteed to hold their current value and are more likely than Jace to actually increase in value over the next few years.

If it was me, I'd trade Jace for duals.

    The entire napster thing.

I missed it, completely. I was going to school and was too busy too download stuff for amusement.

By the time I got out of school and had some leisure time, napster had already nerfed. No more free music.

To date, I never got into the downloading habit.

    GI Joe.

When I was the age when GI Joe was "in", I couldn't afford toys. My parents diddn't buy me toys -- every toy I had, I had to buy off my allowance (my mother gave me "practical" gifts -- food, clothes, encyclopedias, that sort of thing, but not toys). Given that I also had to buy food in school with said allowance, I computed that I could buy a GI joe figure every 2 months with what was left over. But by the time I did scrounge up enough money to buy a figure, something more important came up. In the end, I never got to buy a GI joe figure.

Transformers, Robotech, Voltes V, He-Man, kung-fu shoes, TMNT, just about everything that was in for a kid at the time -- same deal as GI Joe figures.

I'm with you on the downloading thing. I don't download music, movies... None of it. If I want to own something, I want to physically own it. I want to be able to hold it in my hand, see it, touch it, hear it, fill in the blank.

As far as you missing out on all of those childhood toys, that really makes me sad. I admit that I was a bit spoiled as a child, but I couldn't imagine not having any of those great toys. The memories of my childhood still put a smile on my face today.

I'm very familiar with the Lorwyn/Shadowmoor-Alara block Warp World builds as well as the post Lor/Sha Warp World builds (I played Warp World for nearly two years at FNM and still feel lost without it), but what did Ravnica era Warp World decks look like? I'm thinking that Warp World should have been around for Kamigawa/Ravnica, Ravnica/Time Spiral, and Time Spiral/Lorwyn-Shadowmoor (I believe the 10th Edition Warp World printing was during TS/Lor-Sha). Warp World decks are my all-time favorite decks and I'd love to see some of the builds I'm unfamiliar with so that I can build them and experiment with them in Casual play. Links and/or decklists are appreciated. Thank you.

I was born in the late 70s and grew up watching 1980s cartoons. He-Man (my absolute most favorite), Transformers, GI Joe, Muppet Babies, Gummi Bears, Smurfs, Go-Bots, Brave Starr, Voltron, on and on.... When I was in college we'd get to talking about 80s cartoons and people would bring up ThunderCats. I could never remember anything about the ThunderCats from my childhood. I've read up about them on the net, watched YouTube clips, etc, etc... I just don't remember these guys. I'm guessing that the show was on during the same time as another show I loved or perhaps wasn't shown in my area (I understand most of the classic 80s cartoons were syndicated). ThunderCats, I just missed them.... Somehow.

Anyone else have anything like this that their friends expect them to remember and you draw a blank?

Girl Mono-Black Control a try. I've played against it at FNM a few times and there are a lot of really solid cards for the deck. It may be one of the most underestimated and underplayed archetypes right now.

I've always wanted to be able to email the guy who won these overpriced auctions with links to the cheaper buy it now. As far as I know, you can't do that. Sometimes I do email the seller and congratulate him on making more than he should. I guess I've been fine tuned when it comes to buying and selling because of my stock trading.

Were those particular cards crimped, misprinted, or otherwise "pimp"? Besides that, I can't think why that would occur. Bidding wars most likely.

No. Just normal old mint condition Magic cards.

  • posted a message on Why do you do that with your hands?
I always feel that the people who constantly shuffle their hands ridiculously fast are just bizarre. Do they annoy me? No. I just think it is assinine and a complete waste of time. Me? I draw my cards, put them in my hand. I might mix them up here and there, but not like the people emulating "the pros". Normally when I'm not on the play, I lay my hand face down. I remember what is in my hand and will only look at it again if I am considering using an instant during an opponents turn or am on the play.
