I've been browsing deckcheck.net for a few months and am baffled by two deck/archetype names in particular.
1. EvaGreen. I saw this deck/archetype and figured it must be some sort of aggro mon-green deck. Much to my surprise after opening it... It is basically a black deck that forces the opponent to discard and destroys their land. Much to my surprise, this was basically the archetype that I was playing.
2. Rabid Wombat. I was scanning the pages a few days ago and say Rabid Wombat. Interesting, I thought. I used to play a Stasis/Rabid Wombat deck "back in the day". So I clicked on the thread and what do I find??? No Stasis and nothing even remotely resembling Rabid Wombat.
So what gives? What is the origin of these two deck names?
I cant even go anywhere on the boards, it has me stuck in my profile and wont let me update anything. They should have kept them down longer. And yes, I know my login info.
Same here. That's why I'm on this board now. MTG ruined a good thing.
I seem to be one of many "refugees" from the official MTG boards. Change for the sake of change isn't necessarily a good thing and, in my opinion, they have destroyed what were some perfectly good boards. Ah well.
I've been checking into MTGSalvation for a year or so and occasionally browsing the forums. Hopefully I am welcomed here.
I originally began playing in 1994 during Revised and the Dark. I stopped playing in 2004 because I moved to a different city and hence lost my playgroup. Late last summer I became intrigued with the game again after re-discovering my 300 count box of cards... The only cards I had kept. Fortunately I kept some of my favorite cards (ie Shivan Dragon, Force of Nature, Birds of Paradise, Serendib Efreet, Juzam Djinn, Spiritmonger) and started playing again casually. To top it off I had kept my play set of original dual lands as I always felt those would be, in a worse case scenario, an investment of sorts.
I've always been predominantly a casual player and enjoy big fat creatures and interesting spells, especially ones that benefit multi-player games (ie Wheel of Fortune, Time Spiral, Time Twister). When I saw the cards that were being printed in Shards of Alara (ie Hellkite Overlord, Godsire, Broodmate Dragon, and Flameblast Dragon) I knew I had to get back into the game. The Shards pre-release last year was my "baptism" back into the game. While the game has changed and evolved, I still love it. It is a great game.
Like I said, I am predominantly a casual player so I don't necessarily analyze cards the way a "Spike" would. And I definitely have a strong affinity for BIG, FATTIES!!! As such, I enjoy mana acceleration to help me get those beasts and dragons onto the battlefield.
I currently play Warp World in Standard and in Legacy I play my homebrew variant of EvaGreen. Though I am far from being a control player, Merfolk have also long been a pet tribe of mine, going back to the days of Fallen Empires.
Outside of Magic, I enjoy weightlifting, watching horror films and pro-wrestling, and reading. I love heavy metal. My favorite tv shows are Criminal Minds, CSI, X-Files re-runs, True Blood, Survivor, and various pro-wrestling shows. I live with my girlfriend. I have a pet rabbit and am a tropical fishkeeper. I work for the railroad. I'm very interested in conspiracy theories and politics. I'm a left libertarian. I have a lot of tattoos.
I'm glad to be here and look forward to the discussions.
