Huh? Killing Wave? Really? Has that card ever seen serious play at a reasonably competitive level? I guess I must have missed that.

Yeah, it saw some play in zombie builds as a way to Blood Artist people to death. Killing Wave where X=0 and sac everything for lethal.

Some perspective for that Dar Confidant thread... keep in mind that at the time people were perfectly fine losing 1 life to draw an extra card, but we really didn't have anything other than that to compare this with. This seemed risky, and indeed the card didn't see a huge amount of play for a while. People were dying to Bob triggers like crazy, even with Top in the format.

So yeah, if this card was spoiled today people would indeed find the value, but it's pretty understandable why he'd be considered underwhelming then. Same with Goyf, really.

Don't see why Ratchet Bomb can't be in the side against tokens. If Craig Wescoe's Gruul list full of one drops becomes popular, it'll be maindecked even.

I wouldn't be shocked even on an FNM level only, that we'll see B based decks that will run Games maindeck. In a world where Thoughtsieze, Duress, and Sin Collector are around, there is always going to be someone wanting to strip your hand.

Just basing my views on playing Post decks in the last couple of months before rotation. Bombs ended up being not very good, Plate Mail ended up being relegated to SB, and win condition skewed heavily to Accord. However, this is post rotation which could change everything we'd tested before.

Not that I want to bicker, but for me a win-more is an unnecessary win condition because what you already do is efficient enough on its own. Adding a card to win faster to me means the deck isn't efficient.

I hope I'll be able to test some this weekend, and I'll be trying decks both with and without Accord. I'll report if I get this chance.

There's certainly synergies to abuse between Angelic Accord, Bubbling Cauldron, and Trading Post but it ends up being pretty win more. The real advantage to Angelic Accord is that it wins in 10 turns rather than 35.

That's hardly a win more... I think the problem with many Post decks is they try too hard to be cute. This is fine, but many times you end up mucking things up because you're cramming a million things into the deck in order to have options. Many times pooping out a 4/4 flyer is the correct choice.

Hands down blue. When I wasn't crushing with it, I got crushed BY it. I ran four total pods, and even when I wasn't using a Blue Path, I was running a blue splash.

This was the old thread. Some similar discussions going around in there... though it's pre-rotation talk. Good read though since these folks were hammering out the deck for a couple of months already and came to some conlusions worth noting.

I've played around with both Cuneo's list and a BW version that was being messed around with on these boards pre-rotation, and I do have to say that the BW and Esper versions with Angelic Accord were so much better in the end. There are multiple ways to gain 4+ life, esp when you add in Bubling Cauldron.

Now granted, I have not been able to test the decks with any new cards, so UW may end up being better in the end... but I scrapped using Plate Mails pretty quickly in my tests a couple of months ago because they ended up being pretty awkward.

I think one thing that's important to note is that there is a heavy element of "I NEED THIS NOW." There are a ton of people who just cannot wait to get their hands on certain cards or they feel like they will be left out or unable to play at thier local events. A couple weeks go by, and suddenly these cards are everywhere and everyone's been cracking boxes and drafting the set like crazy, so the prices drop. Sure some things jump, but 99% of the cards will lose value by fairly large leaps until the tournament scene heats up.

Control will always have a place. The question is when.

Or more spacifically... which type. People forget that control from two years ago was NOT the same deck that people are used to playing today. Some similar ideas yes, but I think the problem now is that people are dead set on finding a way to replace Drownyard, when control decks didn't even play Drownyard or even Jace until this last year.

Control will be just fine, it just won't look the same.

In one of the WPN videos, they show a spread of cards and make a point not to say "all the same color." We could easily see the gold rares represented in these as well.

It's just like RTR and GTC... you pick your fave color, and there is a playable promo for each, as well as a pack of cards specific to that color (or plays well with). I'm certainly hoping we have a chance to open gods, as we did guild leaders!

As for Thoughtsieze... I doubt it... just seems like they like to push limited and casual play with these things.

Seems really weird to me. And as a control player... I really don't want to have to splash red for this kind of an effect...

Buy um now while people are complaining and whining about how crappy they are. Then people play with them and see how useful they are. As a control player... I love them. Sure, I'd rather have them at uncommon, but not every rare in this set has to be a $10 staple. People were already planning to run gates in some decks. These are better.

As an Esper player... very happy I get BW and UB lands together.
