Funny thing is one of the main reasons to come to MTGSally was for the spoilers, yet now there's so many other options.

True. I got points for "being sexist" for writing that the eldritch moon pink font looked girly, on the elritch moon thread. lol

...This gives insight as to why I'm seeing so much more activity in places like Reddit.

If you ask a person to go through your 10,000 cards or so, at least get them a nice dinner to spend their time doing something nice for you that could yield immense value.

One day when I'm wealthy enough I will hire muscleclad guy named Horatio to serve as my deckbox.

He'll wear baggy jeans with a sexy white t-shirt, ripped down the center to expose his chestmuscles, he will carry around my decks, as well as a cooler filled with Fiji Water and a palm leaf to fan me in the most hedonistic way possible when playing at GP.

If you're interested, let me know either via PM or a post in this thread. Thanks!

I'd so be down! I just have a few stipulations.

    1. You'd have to be okay with food in the hotel room

    2. Since we'll be playing in the GP bed time will be 1:00am. We need our rest and to be able to function. Duh!

    3. Don't be a sleepwalker. I know it's something that most people can't control, but if you find yourself sleep walking, please sleep walk back to bed.

    4. Spooning. Under no circumstances will we NOT be spooning. If we're playing in the GP we need to be at 100% and spooning is the best way to recharge batteries. You can be the big spoon if you want.

    5. Making a move is ONLY OKAY if neither of us has had Chipotle. I don't know about you but every time I split a room and Chipotle is had I end up having to pay a huge cleaning bill and have to deal with shocked faces of cleaning ladies as they call maintenance to have someone clean the walls.

    6. I only use the regular brand of KY Jelly if you want to use the specialty stuff you'll be springing for that yourself.

    7. Hanging out at the GP is okay, but remember to keep it professional. ...Unless you want to hook up in a broom closet.

Let me know if this works for you.

You ever watch those shock videos? Like the ones where someone does something insanely stupid and you know the video is gonna end badly like "OHMYGOD DUDE. THAT JAR .." and the jar just cracks and all you're sitting there with is a moment of destroyed realization of what you just watched and how jam jars will never look the same.

I feel like that same sensation will be cast upon those who open this, and watch others opening this.

Like, if someone made a youtube video of the person's delight and joy as they see the mythic symbol, foil, in the back of the pack, is that a foil Sneak Attack? NO

    ITS WORLDGORGER DRAGON!

And all across the internet, men will close their thighs, having a moment of empathy as their brother is savagely kicked in the balls by WotC.

I'd like to make clear that I know my meager photoshop skills will most likely confuse more than clear up, but will try anyway.

I was inspecting some of the SOI clue tokens (I was really, REALLY bored) and I found this faint form in the background of token #13.

    Here's token #13

    And here's what I saw

To kinda make it more obvious to see, I sorta traced what I saw.

I swear to God, this silhouette looks familiar to me. I just KNOW there's a character in a card that looks like that pose (the long, two-pronged stick thingies are arms and hands) but I can't for the life of me remember which one it is.

I don't even care if this isn't some sort of easter egg for SOI (which I highly doubt it is), I just gotta know what card I'm thinking of. It's freakin' killing me, guys.

Reddit figured out the clues. Emrakul is gonna be in the next set, Tamiyo dies, and Venser comes back to life, only to die when Karn brings Tamiyo back to dead.

I am, admittedly, part of the group that will buy intro packs for the alternate art foil to put in my cube/commander deck, especially since you get the two lotto ticket packs included.

Nothing wrong with that! I did that via Remands before MM2 came out. Love the new Remand art!

If you seriously live in an environment where people swoop in and buy every copy of something, from every WalMart/Target/Insert Local Game Shop Here, then I genuinely feel bad for you, especially if eBay/Amazon/Starcity or the like are not an option for you.

When the new Commander Decks came out, the one with True-Name Nemesis sold on EVERY Amazon, Ebay, SCG, TCGPlayer, LGS for like 50$ or so. Target had it for 30$ and it was like going to the lottery to find out if their stock had the True-Name Nemesis deck and if it did, every one of 'em was gone THAT DAY. The decks had massive value for the price tag of 30$, in the True Name Nemesis card, and in trade value with the other stuff that was in it.

Point being, if you slap a 11.99 Price tag on it, and a single card on it sells for 35$ (This isn't just a guessing scenario. Baleful Strix Shardless Agent Chaos Warp Flusterstorm all have had a price tag that commanded the upper 30s for a lengthy period of time due to playability in Legacy)

It will be gone, and it will be heavily marked up.

If we don't accept Wizards trying new things, even if it fails spectacularly a la True Name Nemesis, then their corporate overlords may take an even greater role in the company, and quickly kill something they don't understand. IMO, it's better to have the devil you know, then the one waiting in the wings.

Yes. Please. That's what I'm begging for, I'd LOVE for them to try new things, different things, MTGO things. Not another supplemental paper product to 'get newer players understanding the game' when Hearthstone has shown that their method of getting new players through a Digital Medium is more Profitable (Server costs are MUCH Cheaper than Print Run costs), expands your reach, and helps build on your core group.

Edit: Before it comes up, no I'm not a shark, my local game shop runs those people off.

Contrary to popular belief Sharks are a healthy and important part of LGS and TCG Gaming in general. Most players who get a 50$ card won't know what to do with it. Sharks are the reason we still have Dual Lands that are in playable condition and refilling the market by picking up old collections. You don't see a Shark leaving a Tundra in their back pocket to go through the washing machine.

Love your sharks and know the value of your possessions.

    Quote from ThyLordQ »

I'd be seriously impressed if an LGS was in a position to put something at $50 that'll sell at almost every Big Box store in the country for $15. That'd be a True-Name Nemesis level card in a standard set, in a product with a very high print run.

    >>Read my argument above.

    >>Well, powerful cards for Eternal formats can be considered underpowered in Standard due to difference in need. Nahiri is being juggled at 35-40$ (TCGMid) and her use in Standard is.. mediocre at best, where as her use in Modern jumps due to her ability to act as a win condition in some decks. And we all remember that delightful little counterspell Mental Misstep ...which was Banned in legacy VERY soon after it's release. So I could see a card like..

    U - Instant
Search your library for a JACE PLANESWALKER card, reveal it to your opponent and put it into your hand.

It'd be okay in Standard, depending on the power level of Jace for that season. I.E. if the only Jace around was Jace, the Living Guildpact it'd be so meh in Standard it'd be obscene.

...In Legacy however it'd be a nightmare.

Eh. I read it as said product walker would appear in the standard set... But I guess not.

I wouldn't be surprised if the "simpleton" walkers will cost at least 4cmc and the tutors be 3mana. That said, tutors can be easily solved by making them artifacts. Sort of like a batman signal.

    Chandra Signal 3
    Artifact
1, T, Sacrifice ~: Choose one - Search for Chandra, (Specific_name); or draw a card.

BTW, these walkers aren't premium right?

I'm just.. really waiting for these lists to get out. And for one card to squeak by that is really innocuous but turns out to be freaking BONKERS in Legacy/EDH and then WotC having to go be like "..Crap. SORRY. SORRY!" and then people rioting because LGS sells the box for like 50$ a pop, and then the targeted player market going like "...Can uh.. can I just buy 5 packs pls?" and then opening big money cards.. ...and then "Uh, can I trade this in and get more packs?" and then penguin-waddling around with a stack of unsleeved cards watching people play with the card he just opened.

...Or a shark going in, giving them 'value' in a swath of interesting to them 2-3$ rares, the shark getting that high dollar rare and everyone looking at him with disdain because the Shark didn't properly explain to this intended new player that to really get into the game they have to sink another 4-500$ just to have a proper deck to play for the season.

...YEAH THESE PLANESWALKER PACKS ARE GONNA BE GREAT.

They would have to end redemption, and I think a lot of MTGO players would be upset about that.

The Redemption exists for the same reason the reserved list stays in place. It's really not worth the, literal MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of dollars in unearned revenue. So many of Magic's top players have run over to Hearthstone because it streams better than MTGO, the Graphics are done by a professional team that makes it worthwhile to stream.

Hell even their foils are 10x better. Hearthstone foils freaking move and animate, MTGO's just.. derp.

The Redemption item is an old out of date, that was fine at the time promise, that no longer fits with the current standards of today's norms.

I mean really think about it. If they cut the cost of online packs down to 1.50$ or 2$ per pack, lined up where you could redeem IRL packs online, they'd see an explosion of profit from Online and Paper revenue.

Edit: They ended the Magic Player Rewards thing, one of the COOLEST and most AWESOME things they'd ever done (really want them back :/ ) because they could do better things with their money. I mean, the amount of people who want to redeem their sets from MTGO are few and far between AT BEST. If they just ended it, compensated them with packs, it'd be fine.

Wizards is so hellbent on burning money it makes me cry.

It's unending angry defiance to take heed from other companies that are doing MTGO but better on levels that MTG Players could only DREAM OF is being kicked to the curb, replaced by..

    PLANESWALKER 2ND LEVEL INTRO PACKS!

Just.. Just imagine this with me for a minute

Code Cards: Everything you buy in Paper has a code that can be redeemed online, booster packs or tickets or something.
Daily Reward: Every day you log in, you get a reward like a booster pack or an entry into a tournament.
Daily Challenge: Play a 'Color or Color Combination' of the Day Format. Can be in any kind of Format like Pauper, EDH, Legacy, Vintage, Standard, etc. Completing the challenge awards packs or tickets.
Special Challenge: Sometimes your challenge is a bit more specific, like "Win the game at 30+ life" and the rewards are better!
Tutorial Rewards: The new mechanic in SOI is 'Madness'! Beat the CPU with a deck containing at least 10 Madness cards!

How cool does all that sound? It really makes Magic an interactive experience. ...Now check this out. Pokemon has been doing it for like. EVER.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game Online is an awesome way to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game on the go against players around the world. And with a variety of rewards and bonuses you can earn, there's much more to playing than simply the thrill of competition! Take a look at all of the opportunities for you to earn rewards and bonuses in the Pokémon TCG Online.

    Single-Player Rewards

    Code Cards

One of the best ways to add new cards to your Pokémon TCG Online collection begins before you even begin playing. Nearly every Pokémon TCG product you can buy in a store comes with a code card that unlocks in-game items like booster packs and promo cards. You don't have to choose whether to purchase physical cards or digital cards—with these code cards, you get both!

    Daily Bonus

When you sign in to the Pokémon TCG Online, one of the first things you'll see is the Daily Bonus. Just click on the bouncing Poké Ball every day to claim rewards including Trainer Tokens, Tournament Tickets, and booster packs. New players get even larger rewards during their first 3 days.

    Daily & Special Challenges

Players are offered one new Daily Challenge per day, each associated with a particular Energy type. Complete these challenges to earn rewards such as Trainer Tokens or booster packs and to gain experience for that challenge's Energy type. You can level up in an Energy type by completing these challenges, and when you do, you'll earn additional promo rewards such as Energy-specific coins, card sleeves, and deck boxes. When you first begin to play the Pokémon TCG Online, you can have only one Daily Challenge active at a time. As you advance in level, you can work on completing up to three Daily Challenges simultaneously.

Sometimes, a limited-time Special Challenge will appear! Special Challenges tend to be more difficult than Daily Challenges and offer even greater rewards for completion. These rewards can include booster packs, promo items, Trainer Tokens, and Reward Chests (both Uncommon and Rare Holo).

    Tutorial Rewards

If you are new to the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the online tutorial is an awesome way to learn how to play. What's more, you can gain rewards to help kick-start your collection, including a new theme deck, 250 Trainer Tokens, a booster pack, and a random Pokémon-EX. Pokémon-EX are some of the most powerful cards in the game, so they're an especially valuable addition to your collection!

    Trainer Challenge

In the Trainer Challenge, you'll play using theme decks against computer-controlled opponents in three different League Cup competitions. The Trainer Challenge offers players multiple levels of rewards, including:

Winning a match with a Basic theme deck unlocks a new card for the deck. There are 7 cards to unlock for each Basic deck.

Winning 12 matches with a Basic theme deck unlocks that deck for use in Versus Mode.

Winning 12 matches with another theme deck (one that can already be used in Versus Mode) earns you a booster pack.

Each of the 12 Trainers in the Trainer Challenge has a progress meter, measured in stars. When you play a match against that Trainer, the meter will fill up, and you'll receive Trainer Tokens based on your progress. When you hit four stars, you'll win a booster pack.

The first time you defeat all 12 Trainers in a League, you'll win booster packs!

    Multiplayer Rewards

    Bonus Wheel Rewards

After every Versus or Tournament match you play, win or lose, you get to spin a Bonus Wheel for a reward. These wheels sometimes feature cool bonus rewards in addition to the standard reward! Bonus Wheel rewards include Trainer Tokens, Tournament Tickets, Uncommon Chests, and the Victor's Mystery Box.

    Versus Rewards

In Versus Mode, you can choose a theme deck or a deck you've built from your growing collection to play against another player. Then, after every match—whether you win or lose—you will earn rewards, including unlocking the Mental Might theme deck for your collection after playing your first Versus match.

Versus Points are awarded each time you win a match in Versus Mode. As you earn Versus Points, you'll unlock Versus Rewards—cool stuff like Trainer Tokens, booster packs, even Pokémon-EX! Every three weeks, all Versus Points reset and the Versus Rewards rotate, so there are always new rewards to unlock.

    Tournament Rewards

You can enter 8-player single-elimination tournaments by redeeming Tournament Tickets or Trainer Tokens. Tournaments can use theme decks or decks you've built. Each tournament offers rewards depending on how well you do, including Trainer Tokens, Tournament Tickets, booster packs, and Uncommon Chests. And you get to spin a Bonus Wheel after every match you play!

    More to Come

Look forward to a new tournament leaderboard system coming soon. This leaderboard system will offer multiple rewards for players to compete toward, based on total tournament play over a set time period. Check back for details!

It's an exciting time for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, and we're looking forward to sharing many more updates and improvements with you as the game continues to evolve. Watch for details to come about new features, improvements, events, and so much more!

...C'mon WotC. Step it up. Seriously.

  • posted a message on What to do when you found the thief that stole your cards?
Here's what you do, it's gonna take a bit of effort but it's worth it.

Guy who stole your cards is named 'Lucas'

    1. Disappear from the card shop for a while.
    2. Get in much better shape, take really good care of yourself, clean shaven. Grow your hair out a little, pierce your ears, you know. Get in shape.
    3. Start crossdressing. Listen I know it sounds weird, but it really is worth it. I mean if you buy a box of MTG cards once a week, just spend one weeks money on a nice pair of high heels and a cute dress, nail polish, mani/pedi and you're good!
    4. Reappear at the card shop, but in full crossdress. Introduce yourself as a girl who loves Magic and then when you see the guy who stole your cards, flirt with him a little.
    5. Let him take you out on a few dates, take you to dinner, buy you cards for FNM, that kind of thing. Really get into character with it. Remember it's only acting.
    6. DON'T FALL IN LOVE. If you do. Go steps 13B and follow.
    7. ...Seriously don't fall in love. I know that first kiss was magical but don't do it! He stole your cards remember?!
    8. Start going steady with him, he'll keep buying you cards, hell you can probably invest your money in making yourself look cute and just have him keep buying you cards.
    9. Slowly syphon back your collection from him. "Ohmygod you have a Foil Snapcaster?! I love that card, 2/1's are so cute!" Just slowly keep rebuilding your collection from him until you have regained what was stolen.
    10. Do you have a majority of his cards? You guys have been going steady for like, 2 months now. Good dates? Time to complete the game.
    11. It's time for revenge.
    12. The pre-release is coming up! You guys are going to make a real lovey-dovey date out of it. Get a really pretty pair of heels, a cute outfit, maybe even cosplay!
    13. This is where you get him. At the event, you see some other guy, this guys a real Card Shark, his Lands are Foil Unhinged and his ladies ride in the front seat of a slick Black BMW with red interior he's named 'Liliana' and what luck, you're cosplaying Liliana! Flirting throughout the night, much to the jealousy of your 'now boyfriend' you..

CRUSH HIS SOUL! He catches you making out with that slick haired Lawyer with such deep pockets that he keeps his Fat Pack boxes in a custom made leatherbound briefcase, monogramed with the MTG Symbols and engraved with his name on the spine.

Lucas is crushed, right in front of the entire shop he calls you out, and you bring up everything about him that you learned while dating. Make sure to make references that his lands are horribly cared for, hell they're cheapo full art Zendikar lands and Rich Laywer guy can REALLY please a woman with his thick and masculine collection of Guru Lands.

You'll have destroyed Lucas' spirit, maybe even emasculated him in front of the cardshop, and maybe even get him to quit Magic.

    Congratulations. Vengeance achieved.

13B. Crap.. you fell in love Didn't you?

JEEZ! SIGH. Well here's how you finish it.

You fell in love with the guy that stole your cards! You immediately apologize and then tug Lucas over to give him a passionate kiss that reaffirms your love for one another. That's when you come clean.

He stole your cards, but.. you stole his heart.

He immediately begins crying and hugs and holds you, promising to give you everything you ever wanted. You lean into him, standing on your tiptoes as you feel his powerful arms embrace you as you embrace a life with him. He accepts you as the girl you've become. It's not a big deal for him anyways, it's not like he's got the pick of the litter!

You guys get married, and spend a honeymoon in Paris at a GP, where you realize it's the perfect place to settle down. You open a cardshop with him, Le Petite Delver, adopt 3 children and even though they already have names, you rename them to Finkel, Bob, and Karn. And as you raise your three children to play Magic, owning a card-shop with your husband, you realize that this is worth more than any card collection.. this is your Happy Ever After.

    The End

    You think that's annoying?

I'm in the habit of playing lands in front of creatures and upside down.

I'm trying to take it to the next level by announcing lands by symbol rather than title (i.e. Plains = Sun, Mountain = Fire ect.)

This method however will result in you losing first in every multiplayer commander game.

    You think think that's annoying?

I've used playing lands as a way to express myself politically.

For example; play a Forest? "Yeah Forests are my favorite, I think it's cause I'm Vegan and I just appreciate Forests more than other people who eat meat."

Or! Want to swing to the right? "I'm going to play this Forest, and it's the best Forest, it's a Foil Unhinged Forest, and everyone tells me 'That is the best Forest' and I know people who own Forests. The Redwood Forest. The Amazon Rainforest, I've been there, it doesn't look anything as good as this Forest." Lands.. Trump Style
