4x Nivix Cyclops
3x Flamespeaker Adept
2x Thassa, God of the Sea
4x Aqueous Form
4x Titans Strength
4x Boros Charm
3x Armed//Dangerous
3x Teleportal
4x Gods Willing
4x Magma Jet
3x Sacred Foundry
3x Hallowed Fountain
2x Temple of Triumph
2x Mutavault
4x Island
4x Mountain
2x Arena Athlete
4x Lightning Strike
3x Awe for the Guilds
3x Portent of Betrayal
3x Mizzium Skin
Incursion doesn't get as big as the others, but has built in unblockable if you pump him or something else, flamespeaker and cyclops basically have the same function. Thassa helps maintain scry for adept, and for smoothing out your draw. She also helps dudes get through. Form and Teleportal have the same function. Strength is a given. Armed and Boros charm are the killers. Charm and gods willing are for protection. Jet is for removal/face and scrys. Athlete from the board if there's a lot of creatures, or a lot of removal. Awe is dumb against mono colored decks. Strike, betrayal, and skin are obvious help where needed cards. I really like Triton Tactics with cyclops but couldn't find the room. The athletes in the board probably aren't needed, and incursion can probably get cut as well.. Not sure if it works, but the idea is sound. Cyclops gets there, and adept is a fine replacement if you don't see him.
Seeing as I think everyone here can agree that you've been workin on this very diligently.. Mind giving us a play by play against UW Control and GW Aggro/Midrange (Fleecemane/Smiter/etc..)
Weird cost 2, cyclops cost 3..
What he's getting at is that for the time being, aggro is going to be very prevalent. Control will be present, but it's still finding the right card choices/ratios to fit the meta. In this case the weird coming down on T2 is great for both scenarios as against aggro, he slows them down considerably, and control has to deal with him before he gets in too much damage. Both are good for us, as we want to make sure Pyro and Snipe stay on the board as long as possible.
On another note, I tested a rough draft at FNM last night as went 2-2.
First round was some kid who didn't know what he was doing..
Second round was against G/W midrange, with nothing but big dudes and bombs. Mizzium Mortars are a must in this match..
Third round was U/W control. This was a good match up, and I still lost, but the match up should be doable with the tweaks I'd like to make.
Forth round was basically Rakdos aggro. During and after this match, I definitely knew that some changes needed to be made to the 75.. Aggro is something that definitely needs to be stalled out, as there's know way we can race them.
I'll post the list I played and the changes I plan on making later. For now, I think nafix is definitely on the right track..
Did you ever post your list nafix? I didn't see it anywhere, and I'm curious to see what combination of burn and counters your running..
I've honestly never been a fan of Burn at the Stake.. I was thinking some thing like...
3 Izzet Charm
1 Counterflux
2 Cyclonic Rift
3 Turn//Burn
4 Desperate Ravings
4 Battle Hymn
1 Increasing Vengeance
Sorcery-5
2 Infernal Plunge
2 Past in Flames
1 Reforge the Soul
4 Goblin Electromancer
4 Young Pyromancer
4 Auger of Bolas
2 Guttersnipe
Lands-18
4 Steam Vents
4 Sulfur Falls
6 Island
4 Mountain
1 Counterflux
3 Mizzium Mortars
1 Cyclonic Rift
2 Epic Experiment
3 Weapon Surge
3 Dispel
Needs 5 MB and 2 SB, but you get the concept..
Top
Izzet- all great options
Tie for second..
Azorius- all good options, removal mode is amazing, at worst it's a can trip..
Selesnya- all decent options, token mode works with populate
Golgari- sweeper and regen are kool, enchant hate is SB..
Rakdos- the damage thing is kool with some of the rakdos stuff..
Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded + Jace, Memory Adept
Tibalt -4 and Jace Ult are a one shot win.. As is..
Psychosis Crawler + Jace, Memory Adept Ult
So here is my challenge/request..
Help me build a fun and semi-competitive deck utilizing these kill combos (one or both)..
Pyretic Ritual isn't Standard legal....
Also, I've been thinking of all kinds of different ways to use the rituals and I think maybe something like a K-Red deck, that uses rituals to power out Chancellor/Burn at the Stake, as it will still have the ability to power out dudes and swing to the face.. I add a list later.. when I have one finalized..
He's not asking why we're playing Time Reversal, he's asking why we're playing Burning Vengeance. I have to agree with him on that point, as BV doesn't really offer us anything.. I do really like Jace Ulti+Crawler, it's really nasty.. only problem is that with aggro on the rise, we need a solid plan to stave off the damage while still putting the pieces together.. As much as I love Molten Psyche, it's more of a crap shoot then a win con unless the deck is Metalcraft dedicated.. That means no Archivist, as you would want to run as many artifacts as possible. I think the best way is going to be ramping to the Crawler as quickly as possible, then drawing as many cards as possible. I'm trying out several different options with the build I posted but so far its only been average due to the lack of BIG card draw spells. There's really only USZ and I don't think it'll be that effective..
Cards I've already tried here:
None of them we're really all that bad or good.. more often they really just didn't do anything, or enough of anything, to make any difference..
So far in the deck, I'm debating on taking out Solemn and Galvanic Blast, but I don't know what else would even work... as I've said before, on many other threads, there isn't enough support for this type of deck in standard right now, cause if there was I'd be playing... lol
to bad this doesnt work... Crawler doesn't deal damage to a player from its power, it causes loss of life..
Also, how about this...
4x Deranged Assistant
4x Grand Architect
3x Jace's Archivist
3x Psychosis Crawler
Artifact
4x Sphere of the Suns
3x Pristine Talisman
Instant
4x Galvanic Blast
4x Thought Scour
4x Desperate Ravings
2x Blue Sun's Zenith
2x Time Reversal
2x Whipflare
Land
4x Sulfur Falls
5x Mountain
10x Island
2x Buried Ruin
3x Slagstorm
1x Jace, Memory Adept
3x Ratchet Bomb
3x Phyrexian Metamorph
3x Dissipate
1x Consecrated Sphinx
Umm you can't do that. Exiling is part of the cost so you can't stop him from exiling a creature. You can't even play effects while another player is paying a cost. Sorry..
Back to the deck, has anyone tried Mystic Retrieval? I put this together (Very similar to Jadencamelots list) and have been testing online. I like the concept of this deck, it's very "different".
