It plays out a lot like the RUG Delver deck which was very popular around the time of the World Magic Cup, but includes Deathrite Shaman which is arguably the best card in Modern. Seems good.
This 1000x. RUG Delver was my favorite deck in Modern until RTR came out, and this deck plays just like it, only with Confidant instead of Goyf, and Deathrite just being the only 1-mana Planeswalker printed.
@Arew: 4 Nighthawk's are a must. I don't know why everyone feels like they should be cut to 3 (both you and bollskis have mentioned it). He's the premier 3 drop and the deck and should be run that way. Abrupt decay is one of the greatest spells we can run in our 75 and I feel that 3-4 should be run in it. It hits so many problem cards. I don't feel mortors is worth a spot, I feel it is over hype and the 3 really hurt it. Do you honestly like them more then other removal or bonfire?
I recently just added the Nighthawks, and wanted to start at 3 to get a feel for the card before looking to add the fourth. I really like Mortars against Miracles, as I feel it's a more reliable answer to Entreat than Bonfire is, and I feel like it's pretty good against Naya, since that matchup should be a lot of back-and-forth and I think having a removal spell that doubles as a board wipe is worth the slot, but could be worse than more Abrupt Decay's. I've never really felt like I need more Bonfire's, and feel like two is the correct number for this deck, but I can see the arguments for the third.
I've only got to test against Zombies, but that was before I added Mizzium maindeck, so I'll have more to add later in the week as I get the time to test more.
Actually the ONLY reason TO split would be to leave early.. but then why are you at FNM if you just want to leave? If you're only there for prize then it's the same as gambling, not gaming.
FOR GLORY!!! PLAY IT OUT!!! Every time.
Because I want to get a couple hours of Magic in before I head out to do other things on my Friday nights.
What I mean by rushing the deck is that there were many many occasions where Hayne was playing Thought Scour and Think Twice on his turn and several times on his opponent's turn, as if he were desperately looking for a solution, when in reality, the solutions were already in hand and in the yard. Literally, that match should have been 3-0 Hayne because the mana flood got him in G2 and him not allowing the deck to progress at its own pace gave away G4. No disrespect to Hayne intended here. I admire his bravery to try the deck and his skill in playing the deck. I just think that he should not have tried to play the deck like a normal control deck, ie "AEOT, I will draw as many cards as I can."
I disagree, he had a lot of patience in playing his cantrips, but, he valued making land drops of #1 importance. The only times he really actively dug on his opponents turn or on his turn was when he was going to miss a land drop.
Depends on what else I'm doing that night, if I'm getting ready to head to a party or something, I'll try to split, otherwise I'm fine with playing it out.
I don't see how dredge doesn't involve any decisions. I can only assume people are playing it poorly when I hear that. Without backing evidence, I can make the same claims about plenty of decks.
Spell it out like that, and it looks like Stoneblade is mental masturbation without any decisions involved.
Since no one else has, I would like to point out to people that if you are casting Brainstorm on T1 with Stoneblade, your hand probably sucks and if you kept a seven card hand that requires you to do that, you probably shouldn't have kept it.
Also, for people saying that the Dredge mechanic wasn't a mistake, I'm pretty sure Aaron Forsythe has come out and said it was, along with Storm.
I did side both in, but the Bob's only came in against blue decks, and they did their job wonderfully, because blue decks have no clocks to mention, so losing ten life off of flipped prog doesn't actually matter, because if they let Bob resolve, then that Natural Order that you are about to cast(after Survivaling it away) to put it into play will most likely resolve as well, if you don't just force them to discard the counter they drew.
My sideboard strategy against every deck was to auto -2 Reanimate, -3 Ooze/Trisk/Devourer, +4 Natural Order's, +1 Progenitus, and if that deck was a control deck I added -2 Reanimate -2 Buried Alive for +4 Dark Confidants.
If you are only siding in the one or two removal, I would rather be able to tutor then, and I guess it's personal preference, but every game in that tournament where I got Cradle out, I won, and would have lost if it had been a Tower.

I'm not sure if all the utility lands are completely necessary, but they seemed alright, not sure.
