Agreed, wholly... (unintended pun). May we mourn the man that stirred many people's hearts (not all on the good side...).

OMFG.... And I thought Squaresoft (now Square Enix) was crazy for collaborating with Disney. But then again I guess it can't be too surprising considering sales number from the last few years...

Netdecking doesn't make a good player.

Actually, that's semi-true. I've known many people while I've played who netdeck and when they switch decks to a similar type of deck they don't know how to play it at all. I have no actually problem with netdecking but you MUST know how to build a deck in the first place if you're going to do that... otherwise you may end up with an idiot who knows nothing about the decks he's netdecking...

As for FNMs and why jerks keep showing up there, the whole thing has to do with how much those FNM foils sell for. Some of those in my area can sell for as high as 20 bucks a piece. Not bad for a free tourney. And this doesn't include that some use FNM as a tune up for States/Regionals/whatever.

I'd like this for an avatar... attached thumbnail with a red glow around the flames and if it's possible size-wise have it suddenly fade to black.

First a question... how long would it take for a tsunami to hit the area it's going to affect?...

In any case, brace yourselves again coastal areas... and world brace your pockets. It's gonna be a long ride... and hopefully, nobody gets hurt this time.

  • posted a message on "Conservative" talk radio and the myth of Conservative vs. Liberal, Left vs. Right
Actually, talk radio shouldn't be listened to people that get caught up in things like that. Such hardlines (on either side) are really only supported by (probably) 2% of the nation. As such, don't bother with it. Big waste of time unless you're trying to cram for an election, in which case you shouldn't be voting, IMO. If you really want to know the broad spectrum keep up with a couple national news stations and make your own decisions based on your education and state of life.... and after that here's my test results for those that care:

    You are a
    Social Liberal
    (65% permissive)
    and an...
    Economic Moderate
    (50% permissive)
You are best described as a:Centrist
You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness.

Didn't see it coming but it makes perfect sense after thinking about it... but I do end up taking the Democrats side most of the time for some reason.

  • posted a message on Terry Schiavo
Well, well. Since this is my first time hitting these boards in a long while let me first disclaim that these are my opinions and noone elses... if I am misinformed please correct me.

her parents should realize that she ain't gonna start jumping for joy that they "saved" her life. They really need to let go and move on.

I agree. One of the hardest things for me personally in this case is that the family still has hope that somehow she'll "get better" when I have yet to hear any doctor who has attended to her say that there's any hope she'll function "normally" again in her lifetime.

I fear the Schindlers will not really be able to cope with Terri's death when it happens, which now appears to be coming very soon. I expect even more bitter words, and potentially even more lawsuits.

Thanks to you two for getting to the exact heart of this matter. Well that and what her wishes were. If there were serious hope for Terri to get better and the husband wasn't believable I might actually side with the parents... but there isn't. Let's face it and move on.

But as to why this whole thing is being politicized... well it has to do with the far reaching aspects of this case. Lawyers everywhere should be cheering right now because of the fees they'll get off living wills. Well in some states at least... I dunno exactly what's legal where but I heard that in some areas there are free documents that are legal in court for determinations in such cases... Besides, if Terri were to have her tube permanently put in this could mean that under such disputes you might be at the whim of a hateful/overly-hopeful family and I dunno anyone personally that would want to stay in such a state (whether that's permanently vegetative or not... it's still horrible).

Mark: Exactly there should be something a lot clearer than what is out there... I don't care which side it works for just as long as I can die somehow if something that horrible happens or worse. Personally that'd be my choice right now....

Also, in an unrelated topic, did anyone see the irony of Schindlers trying to save lives while a Nazi kills others in another area of the country...

Hey nan. Need an avatar I can't exactly find good pictures for... if you can help that'd be great. I need a simple avatar where hell freezes over and then a fade to some text saying: "It's finally happened..." Thanks if you can do this for me... If you can't I understand that too.

Wow... that is just ridiculous. How much is a box of that stuff I wonder... must be over 200 bucks at least. And if it isn't I'd be surprised. But considering it's cheap 'ole Topps who knows. Also, if Magic started doing this, they'd never make money unless they came up with some product that mandated selling the packs at like 10 bucks a piece (all foil product?). Of course I don't know the exact economics on this but that's my opinion.

  • posted a message on Was Mirrodin Block A Mistake?
I somewhat agree with you Ruffles with one little bit to add. SOME color must be THE color for that block but it's power shouldn't be much more than the others. This way you can have monocolor decks as well as your all too common two color decks you see these days.

On the subject, in Mirrodin's case, because of its artifact base, no one color really won out, IMO. However, did anyone else notice that besides the banned cards all the other cards are either perfectly powered or WAY mana-overcosted. Hence my vote for "nope" on this one... The only thing missing from the block was a way to deal with Colossus besides bouncing it or Altar's Light... and they did give us that in Betrayers anyway.

I'm gonna pick the obvious, Avatar. Powerful, usually rare, and usually good (although not always tourney strength) Avatars are what the definition of God-like.

  • posted a message on Does anyone here like the Gorillaz?
Whatever happened to them... they were the one band I could say was perfectly f-ed up in a good way. And yet not too "teenager-ish" for 20 year olds like me... or least thats my opinion. I don't think they're da bomb but they are very good....

Edit: "Clint Eastwood" was annoying but everything else on that album is good stuff.

Something VERY weird is going on here... especially since the story of this gorilla has been around since I've been born (around the early to mid 80's). And this doesn't mention the fact that Patterson is fairly notable because of this... three options IMO A) Koko actually said that in some sort of weird moment B) Koko was misunderstood or C) Patterson has been at that too long and needs to take a trip to a mental hospital. Personally I hope it isn't C but who knows...
