Mar 12, 2008Itinerant Soldier posted a message on To quit or not to quitTBH, having time for Magic at college is hit or miss. It is mostly weekend stuff there because so much time has to be focused on work. First thing I'd do is scout the DCI site and see what registered shops are around the college. After there, I'd just take it one step at a time. Maybe you just need to lessen your involvement instead of just outright quit. Hope this helped...Posted in: Psi's Blog

Apr 4, 2007Itinerant Soldier posted a message on [Deck] 'Tings and 'Tings and 'TingsI saw that. Weird timing, IMO. I like most of his deck including the Insidious Dreams but what I don't like is he put an extraneous combo in the deck. I've always been "the deck is the deck and if you go away from the deck you've lost focus" kinda guy. But it's certainly an interesting take on it tho. Definitely took most of that decklist to heart.Posted in: ItSos Implode-o-rama

And sorry about the recent death of cats. Not good to see them go in a group like that after that long. -

Thanks to gorckat for finding this quiz too. Kinda fun to reaffirm the word used to describe your choice of religion. I just hope no one in the government sees this and puts me at 75% terrorist... -
Feb 9, 2007Itinerant Soldier posted a message on More MomoconIt's definitely a video game character. That missing character goes by the name of Lady from Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, if I'm not mistaken. However, that HUGE gun looks nothing like a bazooka with a machete at the end like Lady carries so I could be wrong. The costume is right tho... It could just be the angle.Posted in: Alacar's Design Zone
Anyway, nice pictures all. Entertaining indeed. -

Obviously it's a matter of opinion, but I totally agree. But there was something about the gruesomeness that it had. It freaked me out; I loved it.
Still, <3 this reprint, now that it's confirmed. Spelltwine... is weird. And hopefully not broken.
The Boar also looks good too but not as good as that Aven.
Memorial and the rest of the cycle... not so good. The Falcon actually made me facepalm.
Personally, I'm not very excited about this set either and I initially thought, "Whaaaa?" when seeing that first quote. But after counting them up i do see about 30 solid constructed playables (but that counts the six lands) which, for a core set, is surprising. The problem is there isn't a single one that wows me and screams "Build it!" That still makes this a very lackluster core set thus far and one I know people are going to regret buying boxes of.
In the magiccards.info rules notes, it actually says you can do exactly that.
That being said, I'm not sure how good she's gonna be in standard. The time she would normally drop down is also around the same time BETTER three and four drops also come on board, which is pretty rough. Still, interesting to see her back.
Note: Feel free to quote this in a few months if he's suddenly a format MVP in standard. But I can't see that happening.
So for that reason, Miracle I say is worse than banding. At least w/ banding it's just difficult to understand. Miracle is just unfun to play with and against.
So, truth be told, this SCG stuff has been going on with other stores for YEARS. And it's always stunk.
Edit:
And Switcheroo doesn't work on hexproof creatures anyway. So it's worse in my mind because of that.
The bad: LotV is still strictly better. The "green" ring might be better than Rancor. 4 mana might be too high on the curve for 1/1 considering what they already have.
So good, just not necessarily top notch.
