There will be some clues in the art but I also think there are four noble houses that rule the rest, so there must be some vampires that are unaffiliated, basically general public vampires.
Could very well just be a throwback to Gothic stylings. In the meantime, didn't Torment have something to do with Riptide and/or Slivers? I always assumed the logo was a simplified Sliver o.o
Slivers didn't come back til the next block. Torment had the snake that devours itself, like an endless cycle with no hope of change. Which is the torment you feel with an on and off girlfriend
I like the idea of werewolf claws bursting through something, but that's a stretch. The second one reminds me of a vampire, and the third could be zombie related. Have they ever gone over the creative process of how they create expansion symbols?
Weee, we are going to see the fall of Reika from beloved cathar to thieving debt riddled miscreant due to her self corruption. She'll probably redeem herself by the third set.
Nothing about this card makes sense to me flavor-wise.
From some of the flavor letters, I've inferred there is a blood trade amongst the vampire groups. Think of it like the old drug trades that made merchants super rich. This guy is the nearly uncontrollable heir to one of those blood traders, sharing his wealth.
I was happy to beat a guy who pulled Gideon Jura. He was happy to pull Gideon.

I'm hoping for a cycle of swords. That's just me. They have claimed several peices of equipment in this set work better for humans, I would love to see some equipment that works better for horrors. The first one with the helix like blades had that mist might work with spirits, this one for vampires, another for zombies and one for werewolfs.
I love the last two messages. Brother/ sister fight with different types of zombies, and I think the Russian one is their rules of engagement, with where the message says vampires it could have been "risen dead" zombies messed up in translation.
I haven't had a preview season this fun ever. Loving it.
Trample will have to work for any green Iconic creature type, as green is the anti-flying color. Giants would be great, but they are less supported then hydra's. When I think big green monster its either a wurm or some elemental that looks like a treefolk. The problem I have with hydra's is they are a type of sea monster in Greek myths, I think. Not that terrain has stopped Wizards from moving desert and Greek hilltop living sphinxes into blue. Once the creature type is brought into Mtg, they will put whoever where-ever for their creative needs.
Also the letter from the elder to Reika is 5 years before the current events, indicating Reika was a promising young cathar in training. Sometime in those five years she accumulated alot of debt to the cult. This is another theme they are using this set, weaknesses/temptations inherent in humans.
Another message from Reika on Facebook. Turns out she/he stole it from secret vaults, and can't reveal that, cause it's just as bad as not paying debts. My phone won't copy it sry.

Hopefully we will learn more of Reika, why the other vampires are wary of Thatu, and why Raben has been sent to collect these weapons.
