I get really stuck with something like Counterspell where you have nostalgia art only available in a new frame and not original arts in old frames... So tough.
I wanted to play this deck at the San Diego GP, but I don't think it is going to happen.
I won zero games after sideboard against Affinity out of about 8, and 2 games before sideboard which was out of another 8 games. Etched Champion is a beast and a half in conjunction with Cranial Plating.
Against the Tribal Zoo deck, I won about 3 out of 10 games and we played zero games with sideboards.
All of the games were close, which is what sort of makes it seem like these matches are doable. I am also not deluding myself into thinking I was playing perfect Magic, so maybe this deck is better than I am.
I have also played one match each against a random Loam deck and a Blistercoil Weird deck. I lost game one to both but won the next two games.
Were you running the promo Figure of Destiny beforehand? I always felt that the promo one was so close to the original that it wasn't worth upgrading. The only noticeable difference that I could see was the watermark.
No, I had the super lame premium deck foil. I just never got around to buying a pack foil. I try to wait to find the deals when I can.
1st eBay attempt resulted in someone sending me the Prerelease promo rather than the pack foil which was in the description. I finally sucked it up and paid full price at SCG. At least their foil prices are fairly on par with eBay (although not as much for Figure of Destiny) but the upside is the condition is always as described. On eBay M/NM means there may or may not be light shuffle creases, spots, severe clouding, white wear along the edges. Or a perfect front with a pretty trashed back. I am growing weary of eBay sellers' BS/laziness. /rant
I end up biting and buying the Commander's Sylvan Library pre-sale from ebay although I had one already. The new art+border+update text is just so attractive to me.
What's others opinion? Which Sylvan Library do you like better?
If it makes you feel better I have a Legends one that I am replacing with the foil version.
I'm wondering if anyone out there knows the name of a Magic vendor at Frank and Son's in the City of Industry, CA.
The one I'm trying to figure out is the one that is the first one right at the corner when you walk into the Magic/Yu-gi-oh area. They have the huge glass case and there's always about 4-5 guys working the booth.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I cannot remember the business' name, but the owners name is Rick. One of the other employees is Joey, and he is very nice and personable. If you are trying to sell Legacy format cards I would venture elsewhere unless getting the most for your collection is not a priority for you.
I went there to sell off a lot of my Legacy collection (mainly to buy power 9) and the quote I got there was $1000.00. I shopped my cards elsewhere and at GP Anaheim and ended up selling for $3200.00+. This is just my experience YMMV.
You just needed to get lucky and buy them before they went up, I wouldn't foil my cube for the prices cards are nowadays. Shame your mutavault is going, I couldn't stand not having the full art one anymore.
Unfortunately I sold it for a judge foil new border, I like the art better, and it's new border which is a plus. Chlosmo is the proud owner of that karmic guide now :), so at least it's still in a cube!
My girlfriend and I are still very much enjoying that Karmic Guide!
That should do it.
If I didn't care about language, then I usually prefer original pack foil.
I don't have the judge foil, but I kind of switch around the other three every couple of months.

I have been having a really tough time playing against Affinity and Tribal Zoo with Boros Reckoner and Geist of Saint Traft.

Very happy to get rid of some premium deck, FtV, and Promo foils.
These foils look pretty nice, unlike the FtV or Premium Deck foils.

Yeah! Thanks again for that MrD! It is in a good home for sure.
