Ive literally rage quit an entire FNM because i lost the first match to someone i felt was not a good player and i still maintain that they are not one. Never been tilted so much in my life. in 70/30 match up ya still lose 30% of the time. it is what it is.
alot of times the 3 blue after kci isnt hard because you are using stars and moxs to get the 3 blue after recycling them a bunch of times. retriever is also a catch all if you start to fizzle it can grab a wellspring or egg to continue. usually a retriever is atleast 2-3 draws in my experience.
I honestly dont know how that guy keeps winning with that list. Ive tried it and it seems like it just auto loses to humans and hatebears. also the whirs are super awkward because of how many non blue lands it plays. The meta i play in is quite different then online though.
if you are getting into modern id advise familiarizing yourself with the decks that are most played and what cards they tend to lean on. mtggoldfish is a great resource for that and you may even see some decks pop up that no one is discussing and can lead to some interesting deck building ideas. that being said a lot of modern players tend to stick to established decks for tourney as they are very stream lined. Humans right now is arguably one of the best decks in the format and kind of fits your criteria. modern tends to be more about the best card for a spot so there isnt a whole lot of bias asfar as creature deck vs spell decks but there are certainly decks that are competitive in both regards. Lastly ill say dont get tilted by losing. Everything about the loss is a learning experience and that helps shape what decks you tend to play because it will fit your style. Oddly enough the two type of decks i like to play also make it so my opponent doesnt.
i think its interesting though that he is always shifting his SB from the emrakul package to ugin. What are your guys thoughts? ugin better than emrakul? he definitely gets rid of all the hate holding us back from comboing.
it could if you play a 3-2 or 3-3 split with jace and lili and run it as a midrange/control shell. it would look completely different then the current tezzerator shells.
honestly dont know if its going to be decent as i havent tested it but as soon as jace was unbanned i started looking at legacy lists to try to port it over. anyway this is what i came up with. thoughts are appreciated. may need to drop 1 entreat and 1 other for detention sphere.
i dont see a reason for the chromatic spheres if he already dropped 2 land for color fixing. also even 1 retriever would improve the list since you cannot whir out walking ballista.
i play lantern and have played against it. I dont think the deck itself actually takes a lot of time usually the most important decision to make is whether or not they get to keep the card. almost every time i lose with lantern its because either I made a mistake or they got rid of a bridge, which more and more decks are starting to have main board answers for. I also dont think a deck should be banned just because its unfun to play against. I hate playing against storm, UW control, and Tron but that doesnt mean they should be kicked out of the format. If you want true misery let ponza get a good hand and watch them play the game for 10 or so minutes while you sit with 1 land.
it happens when you have decks with massive redundancy. Knowing that though should make it so you win a turn faster. the fastest ive ever had it go off is turn 2 on god hand status and extreme luck.
opening hand was
2 mox, babuble, citadel, trawler, star, ironworks. drew a land on turn 2 and the star after being sacrificed gave me prophetic prism into retriever. Ive only had it happen once.
yeah you just need 1 trawler 1 retriever and a star or Terrarion to go infinite. total cost is 6 and your net from ironworks is 6. you stack the effects so that trawler trigger from retriever gets star, trawler trigger grabs retriever, and retriever trigger grabs trawler. this will let you draw your entire deck and also give you 3 storm count every time you preform the loop. I exclusively play the whir reservoir version so its important to memorize all the loops that can create an infinite storm count. Also id say against decks like soul sisters or infinite life gain decks reservoir is just a cleaner and faster kill. the big advantage of emrakul over whir is that emrakul is just better against hate then the whir builds.
