MTG is a low margin product. No LGS can survive on MTG alone. My LGS makes FAR more on Yu Gi Oh and Pokemon than it does on MTG. FAR more. The store owner has told me flat out that he would have closed up shop long ago if he had to rely on MTG alone.
The only way you are surviving off MTG alone is if you move astounding amounts of product or have a huge singles business
There was a store up by where City Wok and Sublime Donuts are (Hemphill and 10th Street) the problem was the owner was absentee and didn't really put much effort into it. His other issue was burning cash on ****ing Warhammer and other $$$ games that poor college students can't play. He didn't focus on Magic which is obviously what you should be focusing on when considering opening a gaming store. It's the most liquid, most popular and lowest (booster draft) barrier to entry.
The space is still vacant and still has the gaming signage up. I'm sure the broker would listen to reasonable offers to lease the space which has been dead for 5-6 years now.
Magic singles have the best margin in gaming. Boosters not so much but the model is pretty proven and straightforward. Sell packs, players sell back cards, you sell them at double either in your store or online through TCG. Your store is a vehicle for buying cards.
'What do you think?' denotes that you are soliciting feedback. Your deck is garbage, if you want to cast Ultimatums take a look at Dream Halls and Show and Telling Omniscience.
1) Land Disruption - Seriously, this makes you a douchbag IMO. There isn't a point in playing if the game is headed this way. Good strategy, but leave this for the tourneys.
1) Green ramp vomit - Seriously, this makes you a douchebag IMO. There isn't a point in playing if the game is headed this way. Good strategy, but leave the rampant growth, k-reach, derp, GSZ / tooth / G-Wave, into Primeval Titan for the tourneys.
1) Oath up Rune-Scarred Demon, fetch Time Walk, cast Time Walk.
2) Oath up second Rune-Scarred Demon, fetch Noxious Revival (Instant), cast Noxious Revival on upkeep putting Time Walk on top of library, draw Time Walk, swing for 6 from first RSD (opponent at 14 now), cast Time Walk.
3) Oath up third Rune-Scarred Demon, fetch second Noxious Revival, cast Noxious Revival on upkeep putting Time Walk on top of library, draw Time Walk swing for 12 (opponent at 2 now), cast Time Walk
4) Don't Oath now. Draw whatever card is on top. Swing for 18 for the win.
Should you flip Time Walk or the Noxious Revivals in your bin from the Oath activations, Memory's Journey replaces the old Krosan Reclamation and puts all three (if all three were flipped) back into your library. It's also an Instant, so you can use it's Flashback in response to your own RSD trigger to put the Walk and Revivals back in the deck.
it's from Yuri Us ( find him on facebook with that name )
my favourite from him is the breaking bad thirth for knowledge, he's a verry talented artist ^^
Thanks man, I'll look him up. My other pet project is finishing a collection of beat unlimited moxen + lotus (I am shy emerald and lotus). Then having them altered to be the six Infinity Gems ... perhaps even held by the Illuminati. I don't think I've seen that done.
The talent in this thread is unfreakin real. Any chance anyone can identify the artist who did these:
I've been wanting to get either my English or German FoW's altered for sometime. I'm a lifelong comic book junkie and the FF is pretty obvious. My only other 4-some that I thought would be exciting on FoWs would be Green Lanterns, Hal, Sinestro, Kilo*** and Abin Sur ... or maybe Ch'p just to throw a curve ball in there.
Legalize Collector's Edition for Vintage play. Require opaque sleeves (essentially required these days anyway). Increase the supply by a reasonable amount, shake up the secondary market a bit. Send Europe into a panic.
I'd think more fetches and 1-2 shocks. Shocks are seriously overvalued right now. If modern goes the way of aggro / burn / small men the "Take 1, Take 2" for a land is going to be really bad. I think having 1-2 of each is essential for a modern toolbox, but zen-fetches, m10 duals, filter lands and 2Tap duals should make up the rest.
If this is indeed the case, they should sue the ORGANIZERS. Zero security at a huge event is a bad decision.
Gencon will point to all the (non Yu Gi Oh) games happening and the zero theft associated with them. Then claim it's a MTG thing (which it is).
I played DDM and left my band on the table multiple times while getting water. Amazingly it never got jacked (small community, band worth ~ $100). I know my legacy deck is worth $4,000 so I simply never let it out of my possession. I play with my box on my lap. If I bring my trades in a bag I loop it around my leg, not on the back of the chair.

Thanks!
