  • posted a message on Final Fantasy Cards - IV, VIII, and XII - Rebalanced
    Three protagonists and three antagonists from Final Fantasy 4, 8, and 12. I started making these cards as a kind of joke between me and some friends, but they turned out pretty well so I thought I'd go ahead and post them here to get some more feedback on them.

    Cecil, Bound by Darkness: Removed First Strike to make him a bit easier to kill in combat. Increased his power.
    Golbez, Clad in Darkness: Tweaked his mana cost to make him a bit more balanced, otherwise he's the same. I like the way his abilities work together, allowing him to attack when you need to, and serve as a good blocker, as well as building up to his Shadow Dragon to devastate your opponent once they run out of usable blockers themselves.
    Rinoa, Sorceress Ascendant: Left her base card the same, but removed her admittedly awkward Kicker ability and gave her the Aura tutor she has now.

    Ultimecia, End of Memories: Replaced the colorless mana with R to help balance her out more and give her a better reason to have Haste other than flavor. Made her tap ability much more balanced and lowered her power.
    Ashe, Chosen of the Occuria: Removed Shroud from her base card and instead caused her to gain it along with her indestructibility whenever she blocks alone so that she'd be a bit easier to kill. Increased her toughness to 3.
    Judge Magister Gabranth: Remains the same except for an additional W in his mana cost. I'll probably try to find a way to lower his mana cost back down to WB and just give him a suitable drawback to compensate for his abilities.
    Old Versions:
    Heroes: Cecil, Rinoa, and Ashe
    Villains: Golbez, Ultimecia, and Gabranth:
    Gabranth is incredibly broken, especially with Edge of the Divinity on turn 3, but I kinda like him the way he his from a flavorful point of view.
    All art except for Gabranth was found on the Final Fantasy Wiki and was originally rendered by Square-Enix. Gabranth's art was a picture of a figurine that can be found here. The art for each card was modified by me in Photoshop so that they would appear more closely to typical magic card pictures, including the themes of their cards color and stuff.
