One of my favorite artists who doesn't sell prints online, only in person, will be there and I'd really appreciate some help in obtaining a couple! Thanks
Yeah, I have to say I'm pleased to see where the price is, but I'm always concerned when I say "I'd let go of this for $X" and the person responds immediately in the positive. And I'm really torn about letting go of it, it really is a beautiful card signed by a dead guy :/
I'm back and ready for more of these shenanigans. I've thrown together a list similar to the one from GP Oakland, but I'm not so sure what the meta looks like these days so I had a couple of questions.
Of course I've always loved Faerie Macabre, but why are we maindecking her now? Ironworks combo? General Snapcaster hate? Dredge?
Are there fewer Counterspells these days that going down to only two Ricochet Traps is the way?
Going from 4 each of Beast Within and Fulminator Mage down to 2 and 3 respectively is losing a LOT of LD for me. I'm guessing not running a full set of Fulminator isn't standard, but even that aside I'm going down to 75% of my current LD. I'm guessing Tron isn't nearly as common anymore?
Good to be back in the thick of it, but man I'm gonna miss Deadshot Minotaur. I just don't like the art on these new guys as much.
Edit: Also, are decks creature-centric enough that we don't need Dryad Arbor anymore?

Speaking of, what roughly is the premium for Rush's signature? I'm seeing Su-Chis on eBay for like $75
What artist signatures really add value to a card? I know there's obviously Chris Rush since he's passed away and Jason Chan almost never signs cards. What are some others? I'm in the process of selling a large lot of signed cards and I'd like to make sure I'm not underselling anything.
Yeah, that's what I figured. I was just wondering if there was any sort of wild speculation that might push it one way or another; I'm not an MMO guy, so I wasn't sure if that sort of thing would tilt stuff.
I'm pretty surprised to come back after about a year or so's break and find what the values on my cards are like. I'm not too surprised Zen fetches tanked because of that reprint, but my foil shocks have nearly halved in price. The average price on my cube on CubeTutor dropped $2K. My Expeditions have tanked at least $20 per. My foil Jace is waaaay down to $300 and my poor Tarmogoyfs have nearly halved in price since Eternal Masters. Don't even get me started on the eternal masters foil printings I speculated on, Daze and Winter Orb really didn't pay off at all. The only pleasant surprise I came back to was that my foil Lorwyn Thoughtseize has gone from around $200 up to $500. It really feels like it's time to cash out before further reprints or a decline of interest in the game destroy my entire collection's value.
Kind of a strange question, but does anyone think the upcoming MTG MMO might cause an uptick in popularity in the game as a whole, leading to overall price bumps? I'm in the process of inventorying my whole collection for possible sale, but I'm in no rush, so if something like that could raise the price of everything I'd be plenty interested in waiting.
I like the new Sphinx and all, but I think radically changing the foundation and consistency of the deck just because he's a little better than our current cyclers is probably an extreme reaction.
Has anyone ever been to this event? I'm looking at going at the end of the month and I have NO IDEA what to expect. I've never been to an event like this, closest similar would be an anime convention. I literally don't know if I'm supposed to be booking things ahead of time or paying for things before I get there (meeting the guests specifically, obviously I'm going to order my badge and lodgings ahead of time), or should I just show up to see the people I want to meet (with a badge obviously) and wait in line, pay when I get to the front, and get out of there? Do I get to bring my own stuff to get signed? How long should I expect lines to be? Would I be allowed to stand in line while my girlfriend does something else, then she pops in for the photo op or whatever?
The lineup seems stacked this year and with Stan Lee's declining health I'd really hate to miss out on the opportunity to meet him.
new spoiler from aether revolt, kinda hit or miss but probably worth to consider.
this would be perfect if it only hits instant or sorcery.
This is basically like the time we all convinced ourselves that Bloodbraid Elf was worth playing as an "extra cascade spell but it's okay if it hits Fulminator Mage or Beast Within because those are still good too, guys."
I remember that disaster. Mana aside, this card is just worse than BBE. Though I don't think there's been an inclusion-worthy one spoiled yet, casting 3 or less out of hand is much more valuable. Being able to cast a drawn Living End without suspend is a decent upside.
The Commander got nerfed just by changing how mulligans work. I used to be able to mulligan down to 4-5 cards just fine and still combo off and win. Now the hands you get have too much variance, feels far less powerful.
The mulligan change hurt everyone, not just Animar. Arguably it's better for us than others since we have so much redundancy.

Literally never cut Survival. I'd lose Curio before I cut Survival.
Probably. I really don't miss Pod. It's so expensive.

That's Foul Emissary. They're asking about Elder Deep-Fiend, which I agree seems kinda terrible.
