    Yo..I'm John too.
Formerly of Ocean Twp, currently of Philadelphia, PA (UPENN REPRESENT).

There's a good store on White Road in Shrewsbury..its called AmazingStories. My friend (also Jon) runs it. The website is www.amazingstoriesnj.com.

I know this is a really old thread, but I wanted to respond because I'll be looking 4 ppl 2 play with over breaks and during summer. Also, I wanted to plug my friend's store. He's a good guy. Enjoy!!

I just stumbled onto this and the only thing i can say is WOW. This is amazing...honestly you guys are great. I sat and read through the entire tournament...you tell a tremendous story. I'd go as far as to say that you should talk to Wizards....this idea is SO COOL.

    Thank You.
(PS...I'd LOVE...LOVE!! to help play it out next time).

Wow you guys are very observant! As for the Unholy Strength debate...it was not so much bad taste as it was practicality. Wizards tried to remove all "demonic" symbols from the game (ie the eventual removal of demons). Many people have a problem with MTG, thinking that it can involve cult-like practices (a la that big D&D scandal where ppl died)....Wizards removed the symbol for their own good and to clear their name a bit.

  • posted a message on March Banned/Restricted Announcement!
When I woke up, not realizing that it was March 1, then I saw the announcement....WOW. Well, not having purchased any Ravagers (:)), this seems like fun. I think everyone can agree that Wizards really likes what is happening in Extended (and to a lesser extent Type 1) where the format is very unpredictable and there is no "Best Deck." I think one could argue that that is definitely the case here now. SO, rogues rejoice....your decks may see the light of day now.
    More Advantages:
    1. We no longer need to maindeck 8-10 Artifact Haters....there arent THAT many important ones now.
    2. Interesting artifacts that got hated out of this environment (Scepter) will now have a chance.

Nice Job Wizards....thanks for fixing something that probably needed it.

FYI, a full-out lock is not necessary. If you have lots of Mana (via the non-land mana producers), and your opponent doesn't have that many, you wind up ok. My Hokori deck is U/W control...

Originally it was Miracle-Gro, a deck abusing Quirion Dryad and spells like Gush, Daze, Thwart, etc. to cast lots and lots of spells to grow him big. It also played Winter Orb to lock down opponents' lands. Gro-A-Tog sorta does the same thing...lock up the board with efficients spells and drop an early Dryad or late 'Tog. The one you showed will lock down things, then eventually Armageddon floating Tog mana. (after returning a bunch of your lands to your hand).

  • posted a message on Valen[T]ine's
Hi everyone. I haven't posted in FOREVER. School's been pretty crazy lately with lots of work, plus tryouts for my school musical (Pippin), and lots more college stuff.

I too may be alone on Valentine's Day. I just had a huge falling out with my ex (we dated almost 2 yrs). She went away to college and turned into a big jerk :). We tried the "friends" thing afterwards....it didn't work cuz she treated me like crap....so I eventually flipped out on her and yelled and screamed...we havent talked since. I miss her, but whatr u gonna do? I'm not gonna be like..."girls dont like me." I'm probably not as Pimprish as Fu, but I do spend lots of time with girls so whatever.

I hope everyone's well...I'm draftin Betrayers tonite so im psyched.

What is going on? Are your seriously surfing the web when your family has been torn apart? Confused

    in case it "dissapears" -

@Rianalnn-I know you posted again, but seriously, what in the world is wrong with you? People like you appall me. Reading this, honestly, disgusts me. I'd love to continue with the feelings that you doing this brings out in me, but frankly, you're not worth it. I hope you take a long look in the mirror

Shumate's given so much of his time and his life to this game and this community, and, obviously, this is going to be the hardest time he's ever had to live. He told me the other day that he and his wife dated for 12 years. His AIM profile was devoted to her. And You have the nerve to suggest that he shouldn't be doing this, and you imply that it might disappear? That implies that you think Shumate's lying; what kind of person would say such a thing.

Shumate, words cannot express how sorry I am for you. We've really begun to get close this week, and you're an exceptional person. I'm so sorry. You and your family will continue to be in our prayers, and I hope that I can speak for most of the community when I say that we will be here for you. God Bless.

I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't drink lol. Nothin against anyone else doin it, but its not for me. (and i try to follow the law hehe.)

    Mr Fu: audi[T]orium...very very punny.

It's been a weird week of school. 1st week back after midterms...and I'm startin to get Senioritis. I'm not even into any colleges (except 1) yet so I need to study more hehe, but I'm becomin so unmotivated. Whatever, I'll get bye. I've been real busy...anyone ever read Beloved by Toni Morrison? I've gotta read it (I've got all of 1 week.) I did sweet on my midterms tho, so its been a cool week overall...I'm playin this Coffehouse on Fri nite (acoustic guitar set) and I've got a busy weekend planned.

I know I shouldn't advertise, but everyone should go check out magictradingpost.com if u haven't already. I'm a Global Mod :-):-):-) and MShumate's been puttin a lot of work into makin the site really nice. And, if you didn't hear, we're holdin a drawing and the winner gets a friggin case of COK.

I really like this; you guys rock.

@Mr Fu. I'd drop the 2x Initiates of Blood...they've always seemed pretty crummy to me. They seem too dependent on everything else. They'd be better as Viridian Shamen (shamans?!). If the deck is going to be played in COK block, you wont need that much artifact destruction. I'd try and max out on arcane and spirits especially for the amazing Kodama.

@all. I know all the reasons why 60 cards is best. However, this is the only deck i have over 60 cards, and i bought it as a big pile from an old friend who i played with forever when he quit. if you have all the cards and time, proxy it up...it's so much fun. Seriously...its HUGE...I don't wanna make it any smaller.. Anyone know any good 1 ofs i could add?

Lol I'm very proud of you kcw.

    1. Llanowar Elves is functionally identical to
    2. Fyndhorn Elves, both of which were played in Secret Force which produced lots of mana with
    3. Gaea's Cradle so it could cast
    4. Natural Order to get
    5. Verdant Force, illustrated by DiTerlizzi like
    6. Vine Trellis.

I've gotta stop doing those deck comparisons.
