Feb 4, 2014Henge Guardian posted a message on Launch Giveaway! My favorite card is also my username. Back when I first started playing I was obsessed with collecting the Legacy Artifacts, which led me to the Masques cycle of Horn of Ramos, Tooth of Ramos etc, then to Henge of Ramos, and finally to Henge Guardian, who now has one of the coolest creature types ever.Posted in: Announcements

Scatter to the Winds and Planar Outburst - These are great cards for control, and with manlands in the format have significant strategic application. I really like Scatter to the Winds as an instant-speed threat for blue.
Drana, Liberator of Malakir - Just perfect. Elegant, possibly multi-format playable. Reminds me of Brimaz, King of Oreskos.
Crumble to Dust - Sowing Salt correction for Modern, and Manland counter for standard. Seems like a wise choice.
Drana's Emissary - Sweet BW lifegain deck to be had in Limited, and this is a great lynchpin.
Herald of Kozilek - Another card that seems like a limited enabler, but also has significant constructed potential a la Goblin Electromancer.
Omnath, Locus of Rage - Huge, badass, playable. Yes please!
The Blighted Cycle - These are super sweet, will see play in most standard decks and will most likely filter through to modern.
Shrine of the Forsaken Gods - While at first looking like a bad Temple of the False God, this land actually turns out pretty significantly better. People played Temple of the False God in standard, and they will play these happily.
Void Winnower - A flavour home run to showcase the completely alien nature of the Eldrazi.
Scour from Existence - Such elegance, perfect cost, great card for limited.
Near Misses
Quarantine Field is ever so slightly overcosted. In my mind a mythic scalable Oblivion Ring should cost XXW. I understand that splashability is an issue, but it could have even been balanced at XWW if they added maindeckable enchantment removal to the set.
Shambling Vent should really be a 2/4 for modern purposes.
What I am most interested about in this set though is the small experiments that most people don't seem to notice, such as haste on Beastcaller Savant as a way to build a better mana dork, or Volcanic Upheaval and Natural Connection as instant speed versions of Stone Rain and Rampant Growth respectively, effects that before they have tried to keep to sorcery speed.
What I am saying is that this set interests me greatly, as it is our first chance to see what a set looks like without a core set in the picture. For example, apparently Anticipate is the new Divination, which should be a welcome change of pace.
I'd like the GB one to be a 1/3 deathtouch for, like, GB.
This guy is actually super neat, although would work better as a bigger creature that taps all other creatures. I like that within all the random junk there are tiny gems of elegance like this one.
Something like this:
Magnetism - X, reveal CARDNAME: Search your library for a card named Flibbertigibbet, reveal it, and put it on top of your library. Play this ability only if CARDNAME is in your sideboard.)
It obviously has rules concerns (the first of which being provisions to actually allow this ability to be activated from the sideboard.
Of course, magnetism has the ability to search for cards of a different name, but another version could allow the card itself to leave the sideboard if you desire.
