8th Ed just as it came out.
Foil Coat of Arms, Lord of the Undead
    Birds of Paradise
    Foil Two-Headed Dragon, Zur's Wierding
    Underworld Dreams

Yes each line was its own pack. For some reason I got 4 Foil rares in that box that pulled from the uncommon slot instead of rare, so it had a second rare. Note there was about half an hour in between packs 1 and 2. The happy dance interupted my breaking open packs.

    Second best -
    Wooded Foothills
    Foil Starstorm
    Eternal Dragon
    Foil Day of the Dragons

    Kissimmee, FL on Saturday.

Unfortunately scheduling conflicts have come up so I won't be able to be there very long. But there's no way I'm not going to be there, even if I do have to get up at o'dark 30. Probably only get to do one flight though. Frown Work sucks like that.

I'll be wearing either my Transformers or Robotech shirt as per usual. Whichever I find first (also as per usual). Hopefully using Gruul to smash face.

I'll be at the Orlando, FL prerelease. I'll be the one with Magic cards. Oh, and will probably be in either a Transformers or Robotech t-shirt. May occasionally be found in company of Dans, one of which will probably be wearing a Vest.

Wizards of the Coast has decided to no longer use Edward P. Beard, Jr. as an artist for the Magic: The Gathering card game. The reason - "The fans don't like his work."

The artist of famous cards like 4 of the Elder Dragon Legends as well as the infamous Ashnod's Coupon and Psychatog is being given the boot. They claim that this is a decision based on what the fans want.

In the past 48 hours, I have personally seen over 100 players at the Orlando, FL, Savior's Prerelease disagree. For those of you who have seen the new card Reki, the History of Kamigawa, this is the continued quality of work that they are removing from the game.

To show your support for Beard's work, either contact Wizards through email or their message boards. Inquest is also doing an article about this poor decision.

We're losing the artist of 4 out of 5 of the Elder Dragon Legends as well as Ashnod's Coupon.

We need to let Wizards know what a horrible mistake they are making, or we're going to lose art like Reki, the History of Kamigawa. Email Wizards or post on their message boards if you disagree with this decision.

I got to meet Edward P. Beard, Jr. at the prerelease in Orlando, FL. I got my 4 Elder Dragon Legends, my foil Ashnod's Coupon, and his new card Reki, History of Kamigawa signed. Smile He's a really cool guy and does awesome art.

Note: Wizards of the Coast has decided to drop Beard as an artist for Magic: The Gathering. Their excuse is that the fans don't like his art and don't think it is good for Magic. Anyone remember the Rebecca Guay thing? We need to let Wizards know how idiotic they're being. Post on the Wizards board, email them, and Inquest is doing an article on it, so mail them. We have to stop this travesty.

Sorry for the size of that paragraph, but I want people to notice that do to it's importance to the overall game of Magic.

Huge amount of very off-topic stuff removed... sorry.

And truly on topic, I don't think the packaging is really that bad. But then, I've never really understood people *****ing about it, as the last set I didn't like the packaging for was Mirrodin. I see how it's appropriate, but it just didn't appeal to me. And yes, this was back when I liked Mirrodin.

I've got my money on having Kamigawa being connected to the Legends II trilogy, which was written by Scott McGough, the same author as the Kamigawa novels. The one with Tetsuo Umezawa (hmm.. Umezawa, doesn't that sound familiar?) as the protagonist.

There was some big deal with the fact that Tetsuo trapped Nicol Bolas - one of the 5 Elder Dragons to survive the Dragon Wars, who became a planeswalker - in Bolas' 'Meditation Plane,' which was still very close to the physical world of Dominaria.

Then the Planeswalking Dragon cursed Tetsuo, saying that he wanted him to have a long happy life and a great family. Then, when Nicol Bolas escaped, he would hunt down and kill all of Tetsuo's decendants, and everyone who knew the name Umezawa.

And refresh my memory - Why exactly did the Kami start hunting Toshiro Umezawa?

Edit: And can I get a resounding cheer that the Legends II trilogy appears to have no connection to the Weatherlight storyline that refuses to die (even though Wizards gave offical time of death as the end of Apocalypse)?

It needs to by a Vintage/Legacy deck so Tetsuo Umezawa can be in it too. :tongue2: Yeah, I know it's crap, but think of the beauty of the flavor!

And we might as well throw in Nicol Bolas so there's actually a good card from Legends in the deck.

Damnit. I was already seeing great use in a causal deck I'm building for the Shuko. I need something cheap and efficient to pump my 1 toughness guys up. I needed that +0/+1. The mini-bonesplitter is crap. At best it only helps a little in limited. The only deck that would concieveably run this would be Ravaffinity, which doesn't need more help, and I doubt it's even good enough for that.

I say it should be a reprint of Nicol Bolas.

Yes, that would leave you drawing 5 cards as you say. However, because that had to filter through multiple cards and abilities, those 5 draws and most definately seperated from your original 1 draw. Therefore they are again legal targets for the Words.

You wanted to activate Words 6 times you said. You've done so once and are now down to 5 more activations. You have 5 card draws waiting, so for each one of them, you activate the Words once. While the stack is more complicated, you are now effectively gaining 25 life. Once again Lich replaces them and makes you draw 25 cards instead. There are your 25 cards. If you wanted to, you could continue paying mana to convert draws into life, which change back into draws - meaning 25 is by no means the limit.

Besides, there at best could be only two possible answers. First, that it wouldn't be possible at all (which is what you seem to believe would be the case with just one). This isn't true though.

The only other possible answer is one. Let's say you have 3 Liches in play and walk through this.
While this doesn't start out exactly the same as what you ask, it is the fundamental reason why it happens this way.
For some reason (perhaps through the Words) you gain some life. The way Lich works is it handles gaining life one point at a time, not a chunk.

    Stack:
    You gain 1 life.

Lich 1 goes "Hey!" Lich 2 goes "Hey!" Lich 3 goes "Hey!"

    Stack:
Lich 3 wants to replace the life gain with card draw.
Lich 2 wants to replace the life gain with card draw.
Lich 1 wants to replace the life gain with card draw.
    You gain 1 life.

Lich 3 goes "You can't gain life, draw a card instead."

    Stack:
Lich 2 wants to replace the life gain with card draw.
Lich 1 wants to replace the life gain with card draw.
Draw a card. (Replaced the life gain.)

Lich 2 goes "You can't gain life - oh, wait. You aren't, so nevermind."
Lich 1 goes "You can't gain life - oh, wait. You aren't, so nevermind."

    Stack:
    Draw a card.

    You draw a card.

Having multiple Liches in play is a hinderance, not a benefit. If even one leaves play, you lose. Also, you still only draw 1 card per life gained - once one replaces it, the other Liches loose track and don't do anything. So the only answer with a positive number is 1.
