Block all the small flyers with Archangel of Thune and use Detention Sphere on Thassa.
Now black has Gild there's no coming back.
The problem has always been that Thassa is the cheapest god and therefore the most powerful. Don't get me started on the extra scry ability which in itself should make her cost even more.
Now she has been nerfed thanks to anti-god cards in BTG but it's not like that's a good thing. I mean who wants Mono black and Azorius control dominating?
Black will run main deck Gild until MUD is dead and buried and then move it to the sideboard for people that want to play it after it goes out of fashion.
I mean it lets you take care of all 10 gods. Why not main board it?
:| Believe I suggested this card a while back but got shot down. Card is excellent sideboard awesomeness. well not super powered awesomeness but its good none the less. Makes your opponent think twice before they sweep.
After testing her out a bit I kinda like the angel. She makes you win a little faster, but doesn't add the resilience that bladehold adds. Also you need somewhat of an army to make her good as well, but at least she affects the board when she comes into play and shuts down birthing pod and other fun stuff. if you want to go a more aggro way she is a little better but in the mid range build bladehold is a bit better. An aggro W/r Token list could use her though for more win now other than later kinda deals. I dunno though, I'm a little crazy at times
I personally think a good direction to go is to splash red and make it Wrb or just go Wr because the deck turns really explosive with Thatcher revolt and rally the peasant. I am also a more aggro player though so yeah.
If contested warzone wasn't good pre-AVR, what makes it good post-AVR?
A. It is a colorless land... Vault of the Archangel is but it is there for a reason, it can single handed help turn a game around for you (Assuming you have the creatures to back it up). Adding another colorless land to your mana base will indeed mess with things.
B. Your opponent can steal it. Would Honor of the Pure be good if it read "White creatures you control get +1 +1. when you are dealt damage by an opponent, he or she takes control of Honor of the Pure"?
You don't want to drop it at 2 all that often. Drop it T4/5 alongside the back of a Lingeribg Souls or something and let your overextend work for you. They hold back and they take 8 next turn; they sweep and they still take 5.
This right here. I would only consider it a sideboard option at best and probably only 2 of them.
Pretty much but I think the set could make a W/R version work pretty cool like. Personally I don't like entrat the angels cause it costs so much, but it still isn't a bad card.
A W/r/b list could be very very explosive. Thatcher revolt makes champ a better card and helps to apply som sick pressure on the opponent. Maybe something like:
Mana base is a tad shakey. Vault would probably get the boot and leave black just for lingering souls/go for the throat and sideboard tech. Goldnight Comander could help add to the explosiveness with a turn 5 revolt. it is a pseudo Rally. He also helps justify the shakey mana base costing W3 (but doesn't offer the sweeper resistance of bladehold). Bassically I'm just throwing out an idea I got from reading the spoilers so it is what it is
IMO Mana Leak isn't really the problem, it's Snapcaster Mage that is making it the problem in standard.
And tbh tokens are a much worse problem right now.
Do you mean tokens as in the deck or just lingering souls in general? I would say that the swords are a bigger problem than that anyway because the popular thing to do is to equip a sword and turn your creatures sideways.
Hope the counter is good cause I think mana leak is what's balancing the meta a bit. Lots of viable ways to win a tourney.
I am not a control player (only ran it once and that was U/W control last season) and I still think mana leak should stay. I understand that getting a card countered is annoying, but shouldn't you be expecting that if you see blue mana open? Blue responds to threats by countering them (mostly) which would be lkike taking Go for the throat from black... Just sayin.
Lol have fun with your sorcery speed 4 drop removal...

Yeah, I'll still probably try 1 maybe 2 in my current version. Miracle would be awesome to hit.
You get 1 token...
