I think that in a world without signets and in a cube that supports aggro, the control decks become very hard to come by. It turns into what the MTGO pre holiday cube was, which was basically a derth of mono red decks + green ramp decks. Blue was generally the worst color (which isn't exactly a bad thing) and red/green were generally the best colors. I just think that as long as you keep in mind that you need to give the tools to each deck, you can have signets and still make sure that nasty 3 color control decks don't just ranch the aggro decks.
My cube has all the bounce lands and all the signets + full power and artifact mana and yet the best decks are still mono red aggro and some for of wildfire/armageddon aggro (and i don't even play the portal variants).
You hardly need sweepers for him to actually be good. A couple walls in play and he's basically going to either grow his loyalty to the point of just killing them with it or he's going to just ranch them as a 6/6-8/8 beater that dodges all but a choice few of the instant speed removal spells and completely dodges all sorcery speed removal spells (outside of ones that get permanents ofc).
I agree, but mostly because u/w is loaded with good options, and I try to limit cards that make games go long. Neither of those are points against Clan Defiance. If people run cards such as Devils Play, that cube should at least test Clan Defiance.
You guys might be correct that U/W is full of good options but the revelations has actually been flat out BONKERS. That is especially true for powered cubes that run the full suite of artifact mana (like mine). It leads to so many games where you play out your hand of artifact mana and draw like 7+ cards on turn 4-5.
I think this guy is pretty interesting and it's not like Orzhov is full of insane ones already. I am only really attached to Linger Souls, Vindicate, and Sorin.
I think he warrants some testing. In a board stall he is actually the blade as he gets real big real fast. if you are behind he is obviously terrible. I'd like to see how he works out in like a u/w control deck that has sweepers and walls/wall like dudes.
I've always been hesitant on adding P3K, or any Portal set, cards to my cube. I think the most important reason is because i HATE white boarder cards with a passion. I realize that i can get these altered to not be WB but these cards are pricey and it's just such a risk. I also feel that, especially some of the P3K cards, some of these cards were never intended to be used outside of their set.
I am definitely making room for both him and Ashy in my 540 (i'm currently at less than 520 but will move to 540 with this new set). Although mono red is probably the single best deck when it comes together, it has always been lacking in the 2 drop department and these 2 cards fill that quite nicely.
I am pretty excited that I get to place this in my Azorius section. It gets rid of a meh card and also provides us with a wrath that will likely not get pilfered by the W/B control deck that sometimes floats around. Would have killed if it was 2WU but I guess that would make it a little too busted.
This walker is a HOUSE in limited!! I imagine many a game where I just play her into a board where i've got the advantage and just start forcing the issue. she's a damned if you do, even more damned if you don't type of walker and i LOVE IT!
The argument for Library is pretty simple: ever open the game with a library on turn 1? What percentage of those games did you lose? Any card that skews games in that fashion without requiring much, if any, work is flat out busted.
I've actually got a big problem with Dragon Shields. I went and bought myself a case of them and just about EVERY box is miscut to the point where I actually got a game loss at a PTQ. I'd seriously suggest avoiding Dragon Shields and going straight for KMCs (my personal favorite now) or Ultra Pro.
I'm a little underwhelmed by the 2CC PW. I might give him a try regardless but I think he'll be mediocre at bast. If only the +1 was a loot ability instead of a random ability :(.

Unchecked, this PW can end a game really quickly.
