Does anyone have any results playing Sagu Mauler over SSS?
SSS is my #5 simic of 5. It only gets played in control deck. Mauler seems like it see play in some tempo decks and still fill that control role. Note: I expanded from 480 to 512 with my khans update and added a bunch of morph. I've like the Morph so far and wouldn't mind supporting it more.

    Bit of rules nitpicking, but...
I don't think tokens can benefit from Muzzio's Preparations, except in fringe cases like Pack Rat, Rite of Replication, and Illusion tokens. I believe that is because Muzzio's asks you to name a CARD, you can't choose something that hasn't been printed as a card name. Soldier, goblin, elf, etc can't be chosen. A token copy of a card does copy the name (and CMC) so pack rat and rite tokens can benefit. Illusion tokens are sort of a loophole, since they share a name with a card that has been printed thus can be named. Muzzio's preparations prevents it not the tokens.

Maelstrom Pulse works because the permanent has to share a name, tokens are permanents that usually have the same name as their creature type. So 3/3 beasts and 4/4 beasts share a name and can all die to one Pulse.

Thought I had posted something earlier... It was to the effect of, Thanks for putting in the work to let us fishbowl; you are the one actually playing the games so change what you want; and a few thoughts from fishbowling that I don't remember exactly.

I am interested in hearing summaries though. Any contact with the other team?

That is pretty much our deck. My notes/changes:

With 5 manafacts 15 lands is about right.
Hopefully the deck is winning through a combination of ramp and mana denial, so I wouldn't run all 4 burn spells. We have also have creature burn in fire imp and FTK. To some extent the burn spells are sort of a filler to what the deck really wants to do. I'd for sure cut one burn for greater gargadon, probably cut the helix just cause it is W.
I think boom/bust needs to be in this deck too. Don't know what I'd cut for it exactly, probably another burn spell, maybe regrowth, maybe metalworker??
I could see an argument for cutting all the burn spells (except fireblast) or cutting some other thing. I'd add Zozu, scroll rack, vandals, drop of honey in that order (after the gargadon and bust).
I really don't see much risk in running ker keep, I'd cut a forest for it.
Could have a pretty decent RDW after sideboard. It'd be slow by most cube standards but we weren't really drafting for aggro.

Totally missed the last pick but I agree with Tom0 that I was still planning to splash W. I would have taken the land for the fixing and the possible abuse. But I almost took an off color one earlier.

Pyroclasm was a fine choice though, I could see it in the main to sure up against aggro. Much more likely for me than Reach is.

I'd say quirion ranger, some synergy with mass land destruction. Don't think it beats what we currently have though. I wouldn't play Stalking Stones but it could come out of the board.

Yep, Fireblast. It probably would have been our pick fist time around if not for Solemn.

    Let's wheel Survival now Smile

I think Boom/bust is a fairly easy pick for me. I'll take a 6 mana armageddon over smokestack in this deck, even after the sideboard. I don't see any reliable way to abuse smokestack. We do have abuses for armageddon even if it costs 6 mana. I would try my hardest to make room for Bust in this deck. Ramping into Bust with artifact mana is usually GG (not vs aggro so gets sided out there). Boom could be just as back breaking after plow under or winter orb. Do we have room for BB, wildfire, and plow under is my hesitation.

I do run Bust in my cube, Boom is rarely played. Mass land destruction is great in a lot of different scenarios, and I want more in red.

I'd like another creature that survives wildfire too.

Yeah probably not the best card but right up there with the other two for me. I actually don't run any of the bounce lands in my cube any more because land destruction is a thing. The only decks I'd play them in would need to have winter orb, wildfire, or balance, (generally they are not worth the risk IMO) we got 2.
I picked it because I would for sure risk it in this deck. If it were to get blown up it shouldn't be devastating because we hopefully have artifacts out to keep pace. Artifact ramp works with better with our deck than Reach so I wouldn't play it over any of our mana stones, but there is a slight chance I'd play it. For me I think I'd rather have the Albino Troll coming out of the sideboard if needed.

I don't mind the Reach pick at all, I'm sure I would grab it in a live draft. Getting as much time as you want to make a pick let's me over analyze each choice...

Kodama's Reach is the only spell that might make our deck. Albino Troll would be better for the sideboard. Either would be fine but I'd take Simic Growth Chamber. I wish it were selesnya or boros but I'd play SGC over a forest in this deck.

Keldon Champion is borderline for me right now, I'd rather have something that fits better. I think he was in my 25 count but easily could be one that I'd cut.

I don't think I'd play any of the <3 red guys preboard, except goblin welder. Something to improve the match up vs aggro would be decent, but in this cube I think there should be enough time to stabilize. The only other deck I think we are weak vs is U counter. If we don't see something on theme or a strict upgrade then we draft for sideboard. And siding to a red beats deck should help against both those decks.

    Easy pick burning of xinye

Now that we got a wildfire, mana stones sound okay but do we want more than the 6 we have (counting metal worker)? With the deck now I'd maybe even cut moss diamond. The rest of the picks we should for sure make sure they make the deck and if not draft for sideboard. More land destruction is what I really want.
I haven't totally built the deck yet so would still consider most anything. Quick count I got 25 cards in, not exactly sure where I'd cut without laying out a bit more.
I guess I'm a bit sorry I voted for scroll rack 2 picks ago. I'd put the scroll in the deck now, but it'd be about the same rank as fire imp would. the imp is much better for the sideboard.

I think this pick means we gotta take a chance on Tolarian Academy. It could be brutal if we have it after wildfire or winter orb.

Indrik Stomphowler is my pick too, for the reasons you said.
