Mana Drain is likely the single most broken instant ever to see print. No, Force of will is not close. The card was a mistake and should have never seen print. Also an utter failure to the colour pie.
You have no clue what you're talking about, honestly. The color pie didn't exist during the printing of Alliances as it does today, it was perfectly in color (blue got everything, remember). Also, with mana burn, generating a bunch of extra mana that control decks likely couldn't spend was a serious drawback. Doing away with mana burn made it more powerful, but without the full blue toolbox that eternal formats enjoy, there's a real cap on just how powerful it can be in Modern.
You can't evaluate cards in a vacuum, you have to evaluate them based on how they'd slot into existing decks and what they'd enable. Force and Daze would be quickly banned, just like everything else that makes Storm too strong. Plus, they'd allow UR Phoenix to go all in while still having protection; the strongest deck in Modern does not need to get better.
Completely wrong. Maro himself has identified Mana Drain as one of the worst mistakes ever to see print. And yes the colour pie did exist in alliances, design just ignored it for blue cards for some unknown reason.
Mana Drain has been banned in Legacy for a long time and doesn't really see play in Vintage because fast mana is so prevalent. I'm actually of the opinion that Mana Drain would be less busted in Modern than Force or Daze. The latter two would make both UR Phoenix and Storm much better, which is the opposite of what this format needs. There are only four currently extant decks that I can think of that would possibly use Mana Drain.
U Tron: Doesn't really need more fast mana and I'm not sure the deck wants to give up either Remand or Condescend.
UW Control: Would really, really benefit from Mana Drain and Counterspell (which I regard as an auto-include in the set). Tapping out on Turn 3 for Jace or getting a free Teferi is a very powerful play.
Whir Prison and Lantern Control: Mana Drain allows the lock to happen much faster.
Would Mana Drain be oppressive? Yes, it'd jackboot thug the fast creature decks (Dredge, Hollow One, Vengevine, and Phoenix) straight to the gulag, which is what Modern desperately needs. The non-U versions of Tron probably also go to Siberia, which I have no real opinion on. The more midrange, toolbox creature decks like Humans and Spirits already have the tools to deal with a control heavy meta.

What an amazing set after the last craptastic ravnica one.
Seems every Rakdos card is top down designed and the flavour is off the charts good. Sign me up as a captice audience member to the grand carnival!
The whole reason snappy is so good is that he is a creature with flashback stapled on. He's super easy to cast, recur and can be a win con on his own. This card is jank.
I play a lot of 1on1, and yes partner is a problem. But not because of the mechanic, but because the cards themselves were broken.
Kraum is undercosted
Thrasios should tap to do his ability
Tymena and Thrasios are a sick combo, curving out on turn three and forcing card advantage no matter what
Ludevic and vial smasher should have been prebanned because they have zero drawbacks in the format. I also think monarch cards should be banned for the same reason.
The set is great except for Kalai, a card I hoped would never see print and the opposite of where I want the game to go. Yet another hexproof commander I need to block. Hexproof was and is horrible design and makes the game less interactive.
And now I can't do any of that cause Timmy couldn't grasp it.
Timmy is a name given to why people play the game, not how long or how well. I could name a dozen L3 Judges who are Timmies not to mention the number of L2 Judges who would self identify as Timmy (Including myself).
Please stop calling Timmy stupid. More then 1/3rd of the magic players smarter then you are Timmy, if Timmy can’t handle it then you can’t either. Not even close.
Oh get off your high horse. Timmy is a common reference to new players. Why? Because a lot of new players are attracted to big flashy spells and turning creatures sideways to win. You knew what I meant and are just choosing to be offended.
And by the way, it's wizards who are saying that noobs are stupid by doing this, not me. I think new players can handle these interactions with no problems. It's been working fine this way for years.
So more hosing of red, the weakest colour in magic and unnecessary protection for walkers that are already too hard to get rid of. All in the name of dumbing things down for Timmy.
Mono red is like tier 1 deck in pretty much every format.
Wrong, it's the worst in COMMANDER, multiplayer and casual. All the formats I play. Is there even such a thing as a monored deck in vintage and legacy?
Also don't kid yourselves, the main reason behind this is to remove complexity for noobs.
Monored might not be tier 1 in commander but monored is clearly not the worst (that cake belongs to boros). It has a ton of viable commanders and strategies from aggro to stax.
There is no such thing as aggro commander or multiplayer.
But to clarify, we can all agree that red gets the fewest abilities in the colour pie, which to me is limiting, and here they go and remove one of the few abilities that red can specialize in and that is being good at removing walkers. I want my earthquakes wiping out walkers. I want my mogis to redirect upkeep damage to walkers. I want my pyrohemia to be an all star VS creatures and walkers. And now I can't do any of that cause Timmy couldn't grasp it.

Lets I say I played my commander 3x before and buddy has no creatures, what happens?

Most other partner cards are fine

Infracted for trolling.
