    Isn’t the average game of magic that isn’t cube like 8 turns? This draws 3 and makes you not die for a turn the turn it comes down for 4. I think it’s underrated here.

    I mean, you give your opponents
    2-4-6-8 4 turns to kill you, and in my aggro decks I can always use mana for equipments or something. Does it need some sick combo finisher to be good?

    I initially thought this is pretty good in aggro too. But counterburn could be the ideal deck for it. I’m interested in this but it could be a huge dud.

    This card is good, but reading these comments, I think this is the most overrated card I’ve seen since original zendikar. Too good for a powered environment? What?

    Hi all. I was looking for help and advise on how to best edit my newest project. I started with a new phyrexia themed cube and tried to find fun synergies and play patterns with what was already there. I feel like I've been able to highlight a lot of ... underloved mechanics and hiddden gems so far, but I'm looking for any other fun ideas.

    Here's the list:
    https://cubecobra.com/cube/list/1e2l2

    So without further ado here is my archetype list
    RG = bloodrush burst infect
    RW = equipments matter
    RU = activated ability synergies
    RB = -1/-1 counters synergy
    BU = counter manipulation
    BG = scavenge midrange
    BW = aristocrats
    WU = Enchantment prison
    WG = melira/ -1/-1 removal, +1/+1 counters stuff
    GU = Proliferation

    Some conscientious design chooses and why I specifically chose them.

    “Your removal suite sucks” - My other cube is 360 powered attempting to be as degenerate as possible. Something that always comes up in new card evaluation is the vindicate test. Forcing every fatty to be either an instant win or have all its value in etb triggers really constrains cube design imo. Going for a feel of new phyrexia, I especially wanted praetors to feel like they mattered.

    As an example in a recent cube draft my opponent played vorinclex 1.0. With standard removal options I doomblade it and laugh he played such a ***** creature. I had to tap 7 mana to hardcast phthisis to kill this monster and deal 15 to his face. It was a feel good removal spell for both players and led to fun gameplay on both sides. I ended up losing because my decks dmg was all infect, but it was still neat.

    2. What happened to blue?

    Frankly, blue is an awesome color in magic with a lot of fun effects. In most cubes it feels obligatory to run these x counter spells, these x can trips, these x card advantage spells, which takes a lot of slots in the cube. In a more board focused meta, I could include a lot more of blues weird unique effects at the expense of its standard suite of effects. In addition, this alteration makes it feel all the sweeter when counterspells actually do lead to blowouts.

    Anything following mh2 woulda sucked for cube. It doesn’t help that AFR has a lot of parasitic mechanics and is core set in power level. I can’t remember the last time a core set had multiple staples, it was probably origins. I don’t think I’ll include a single card, maybe portable hole.

    I started playing in lorwyn and korlash, heir to blackblade was my favorite card. If I coulda had one autoinclude for the set I was hoping it was this, but it just doesn’t get there for me.
    It’s funny that sun Titan is mentioned so much in this thread as I cut it with my modern horizons cube update.

    People always talk about cubeable combat tricks, solitude is a great one, the flash and life link 3/2 body are great, it got evoked about as much as it got hardcast in my blue/white control deck today. Gained a bunch of life over the course of the night, which is never a bad thing for a removal spell.
    Fury just feels like a better flame tongue Kavu, it was played in a gruul midrange deck today and while it’s evoke really helped the aggro matchup, the hardcast put pressure on my control deck at least.

    Grist unfortunately didn’t get played
    Grief was important both in protecting combo pieces as well as just evoking on a power turn to make sure the real threat didn’t get countered.

    Happy with what I’ve pulled so far and added to the cube, can’t wait for all stars like damn and ragavan.

    Was really hoping red would be the best in the cycle as it always gets the *****tiest free spell in the cycle. Unfortunately this isn’t that, but who knows maybe it’s better than it looks.

    Honestly, yeah, this was one of the cards I was looking at, it’s like a blue Brimaz. I might test it.

    5/7 perfect score.
    I think I actually like this more than grief, but I like both a lot.

    After how good wrenn and six and how boring most standard walkers are, I was really hoping for a slam dunk planeswalker for cube this set. The black blade dissapointed, but I love every single thing about this card. I expect this to be the card I set my expectations for modern horizons three from.
    It’s interesting mechanically, flavorfully it’s amazing, his first ability has a bunch of abuse cases, his second ability is token generation, with UPSIDE, his other abilities are good. Man, I think I’m falling in love with modern horizons...

    Dumbest question in the thread, but. Is there any world where cutting one of the one drop discard spells for this is the right choice?
    I’m running despise duress and thought seize as one cost discard at 360.
