Feb 5, 2014unisom posted a message on Launch Giveaway!I'd have to say my favorite card is Academy Rector. She is a bomb in Commander. I usually grab Omniscience once I have a massive draw spell or combo that enables me to abuse Omni. Unfortunately, I missed her debut as I have only been playing for about 6 years now. I am Johnny/Spike. When they first spoiled info about Theros being an enchantment oriented block I secretly hoped that they would reprint her. No such luck yet.Posted in: Announcements

4 Saruli Caretaker
4 Wall of Runes
3 Wall of Omens
4 Wall of Blossoms

2 Wall of Denial
1 Mnemonic Wall
3 Jeskai Barricade
1 Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive
INSTANTS/SORCERIES 9
3 Eladamri's Call
2 Slaughter the Strong
3 Spell Pierce

LANDS 22
3 Misty Rainforest
2 Windswept Heath

2 Waterlogged Grove
1 Horizon Canopy
1 Breeding Pool
1 Temple Garden
1 Hallowed Fountain
3 Botanical Garden
3 Forest
1 Island
1 Plains
1 Hall of the Bandit Lord
SIDEBOARD
1 Slaughter the Strong
2 Path to Exile
1 Tree of Redemption
2 Heroic Intervention
1 Vesperlark
2 Force of Negation
3 Ravenous Trap
2 Force of Vigor
1 Spellskite
I think this list might be a little more suited to handle a broader range of competitive meta assuming Hogaak gets banned. Otherwise I'd cut the 2 Vesperlark for 2 Whiplash Trap.
The main is pretty straight forward. Mondo cantrips to drown out your opp. Waffle stomp an enchantment or Arcades and get sideways on 'em. Jeskai Barricade and Mnemonic Wall for a little redundancy and Tetsuko for the unblockable kill shot if there's a clutter blocking your way.
I'm running Wall of Runes over Overgrown Battlement because we really want to dig for an early piece so we can start swinging heavy. The meta is super fast right now and even through Battlement makes for a big turn, I think it's just a turn too late and ideally you want to t1 Caretaker into a t2 Rune. Then activate Caretaker tapping Rune into a cantrip wall or hold mana up for an E Call or flash a Jaskai Barricade, activate Caretaker for a Spell Pierce when they think you've fizzled your t2 play.
Against removal heavy decks you wanna bring in Heroic Intervention, Spellskite, Vesperlark, and if you're real hot for it maybe even a FoN if it's Jund. Against U/w control you def want FoN, Heroic, and FoV. Against Burn, MonoRed Phoenix or other fast damage you bring in Tree, Skite, FoN and keep the Pierce in. Nothing like a Tree with haste from Hall of Bandit Lord. I think you just pray against Tron. Bring in FoN, FoV, and Path's for Wurncoil.
I think Humans might actually be the easiest matchup.
Well, that's about all my brain can handle for now.
Notable mentions: Teyo, the Shieldmage(burn hate), Tower Defense(alpha strike) Aether Vial("ramp"), Huatli, the Sun's Heart(other burn hate)
Ranger-Captain of Eos
Plague Engineer
Giver of Runes aka Stepmom
RCE goes straight in the main for added protection when trying to combo and his etb trigger is amazing at getting a 1 drop or less that might not be that great until you realize that he can search for Stepmom for even more protection, Viscera Seer(combo piece) , Walking Ballista(combo piece), and even a mana dork to clutter the board for swings with a Mirror Entity if you should run one( which I think you should somewhere in the 75 because Ensnaring Bridge can be troublesome if we can't assemble the combo). All this on a 3/3 that you can sac to prevent your opp from casting noncreature spells that turn!
I had originally included Unbound Flourishing in the 3 but, lucasbpc, showed me that it wasn't as good as I thought it was so I edited my overzealous, and horribly incorrect, interpretation of the card and replaced it with Plague Engineer. You can read a few posts down about this bad boy.
Giver of a Runes aka Stepmom. Pretty straightforward. 1 Ranger- Captain, 1 Spellskite, 1 Stepmom is the bees knees for mees. Couldn't be happier with this versatile package. If you can get both her and Spellskite out you can redirect removal to Skite then give it protection! Hahahahaha. Why wouldn't you want that forever!!

1 Anafenza, the Foremost
1 Kataki, War's Wage
I didn't use the Unbound Flourishing yet because I don't know what to shave for it and other other cards with x. I think Cabal Therapist is strong against control and combo and am hoping the interaction with it and finks makes it's inclusion worth it but I'd not then I'll likely cut it for Flourishing.
T1; land, Saruli Caretaker
T2; land, Resolute Watchdog, tap Caretaker and dog for mana, tap remaining mana for 2 drop wall.
T3; land, High Alert, swing for 10
T4; land, Tetsuko Unezawa,Fugitive, swing, Tower Defense before damage, win target game.
That's probably the best case scenario for this deck.

The best.
I've been toying around with Runeflare Trap as a 2 piece main and 1 in the chamber for decks that like to draw cards. The new phoenix deck, mirror, kci, dredge, storm, and sometimes even uw control. I've only tested a mere 10+ games so I don't have any real data to support my testing. Just that it could be another way to race combo decks that can keep pace or better. Plus it works with Burning Inquiry. 4, 5,6,7 damage is pretty spicy for 1 mana. I'm not quite sure if this deck has the proper shell to maximize it however.
