Interesting, I'm impressed that you didn't drop a game until top 8. I won my ptq with valakut, my list is on starcity or will be on the net soon. Richmond,VA I. Would post it but I'm typing from my phone. I'm debating on what to play for nationals
regional preference i think. the french seemed to prefer UW Control (in both its pure control and aggro-control variants). the australians seem to like their aggro decks. there were some UB control decks at chinese nationals though. in America at the SGC Open events we're seeing familiar names doing well with a familiar deck (retooled CawBlade).
my theory is that UB Control is the best anti-combo deck in the metagame and is the natural choice for beating both Valakut and Splinter Twin based decks, but that its not the best choice against aggro and has a bad matchup against the retooled CawBlade decks. if i'm right then it seems clear that its getting squeezed out of the metagame by aggro and CawBlade, though is potentially acting as a spoiler in lower rounds of events and is also keeping Valakut and Twin decks out of high finishes (which is also a noteworthy trend).
This is the RIGHT answer, its not a deck to sweep under the rug. I as a valakut, player am petrified of UB. But this guy hit the nail on the head.. I'm still considering UB for nationals, idk why but I think a few minor adjustments can bring her back to life.

my constructed and total are very close obviously because my limited is low. After updates from gameday and fnm and another 16k tournament i should be 1960+ in constructed and around 1975 in total.
MY QUESTION IS:
If I get to say 1850 in limited, will that push me over 2k total? or how much will my total be affected if my limited goes up?
Just for my own personnel knowledge and future reference, if anyone could help me itd be greatly appreciated...Im trying to que for pro tour!!!
And finally a RDW w/ Koth AND Masticore makes a high finish. Both deserve a spot in RDW (non-Kudoltha/Chieftan) as they are perfect bait for each other and great finishers. I really like some of his #s and the inclusion of a couple Hero of Oxid. Will definitely try testing his list in the near future.
This deck nuts on caw go, he lost in the quarter finals to it against edgar flores but won a win-a-box today beating edgar in the first round. He went a total of 4-0-2 against it yesterday in swiss knocking soorani, and laskin playing uw out of top 8 contention.

1) If I am playing a mill deck, and I mill one of the big eldrazi guys such as Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, it says him, and the graveyard gets shuffled back into the library....cool....
what if he hits the graveryard and somehow I remove the graveyard from the game with a relic of prognetius in response to the trigger? or tormods crypt?
what will happen? and is there anyway besides the black leyline to avoid those guys when attempting to mill your opponent?
2) I have 0 cards in hand, I control a merfolk looter that is active, as well as a fauna shaman that is also active. I use looters ability to draw a card and discard a card....If I draw a vengevine can I use the shamans ability to fetch for another vine, and discard it to the second part of looters ability?
draw with looter, fetch with shaman, discard to looter?
Question 2:
If i play renegade doppleganger THIS TURN, and unearth a creature that does not have has(but it gets haste from unearthing). Will the summoning sick doppleganger be able to attack?
I don't understand all the hype around fauna shaman. I find it to be too narrowly tailored, thus making it a terrible top deck. If it read "1G, discard a card: search your library for a creature card and put that into your hand, then shuffle your library" I could understand. But because you must discard a creature card... You could discard a vengevine to get it back, but that is the only use I see for it. Late game, you need to hope to have a creature in hand to be able to use the ability. I dunno, I just don't see it. In my poorly envisioned opinion, I think it is a $5 rare, but I could easily be dead wrong.

okay um, ill pitch vengevine, to snatch up a bloodbraid, bloodbraid into whatever swing for 7?
that card is sick, its on the same level as stoneforge mystic...i didnt understand why it was good until it was explained to me...now im returning the favor...get them while they are 10$ even though bloodbraid is leaving the format...then shaman to get a kor skyfisher play it and bounce the shaman and play it...its just good not to mention it is a deck thinner

Obstinate baloth....makes anything with green in it that isn't jund....stand a BETTER chance against jund
Duals...because they will always be around 10$ get them while they are 3...lot of them
Nantuko Shade...once a upon a time he was 15$-20$...if mono black anything gets big, so will he because he defines it
and the new sword is ridiculous in limited
all the titans are good..but i would let them calm down
I watched collaso destroy it 2 games in a row sitting next to me at the philly open with next level bant, the series lasted about 5 minutes i happened to be lucky enough to play it twice at philly, playing jund and won both games
where ever those statistics came from are probably from FNM....the deck shouldnt even be considered tier 1, U/W is way better and way more consistent play UWr if you want to go x-3
to stay on subject if next level bant wins this gp, im waiting for alara to rotate out to go to an event
