Because words in different contexts mean different things. There's some baggage the word Tribe carries when referring to groups of people, which is largely what it's used for in Magic.

Exactly, words in different contexts mean different things. But the context here is "a group of Magic: The Gathering cards that mechanically care about a specific creature type". There isn't even an implication of painting indigenous real-world cultures in a negative light. So why are we erasing its usage in ANY context, just because it has ONE negative connotation?

I didn't knew the rules allowed permanents that aren't creatures to make damages to other things. Interesting.

It sure does. Cards like Barbed Field and Obsidian Fireheart allow lands to deal damage, and lands like Surtland Frostpyre and Shivan Gorge have inherent abilities that allow them to damage things.
Besides, if the rules didn't allow noncreature permanents to deal damage, then there would be literally hundreds of cards that didn't exist (like Sulfuric Vortex, Dingus Egg, Ajani Vengeant, etc.)
All you need is an effect telling something to deal damage, and it'll happen.

Defossilize is not too bad. It can give two lands or give it +2/+2

that’s a pretty cool art of Fist of suns

I left this as a spoiler so wouldn't rile up too many people but we all know this will get the Godzilla style UB reprint in the upcoming marvel set with thanos gauntlet

Either that or Gauntlet of Power, which would see more EDH play anyway

Ayo the Fomori were from Ixalan? I thought they were from the plane of Ir, unless Wizards is gonna retcon all that.

they Gonna probably make finality counters evergreen so that way we can do reanimate spells in the future that would be obnoxious but giving he exile clause if they die

They said finality counters would be deciduous.

At this point, I expect a "Discover 0" or "Discover 1" statement on a 1-2-mana-value card. Yeah, Discover is too flexible alright.

Why on earth would Wizards do that when they've deliberately avoided printing a cascade card below 3 CMC (Bloodbraid Marauder doesn't count) for the past 14 years to avoid interactions with things like Living End?
Even overlooking those interactions, they still avoided printing 2 mana cascade spells because they recognized that it would be Problematic to print a 2 mana spell that comes with a free Lightning Bolt, Thoughtseize, Ponder, etc.

Yeah, I read that part. But that didn't seem to stop you from complaining about pointless semantics Wink

Still annoys me a little that in mtg pterosaurs are dinosaurs (which they're not actually) while birds aren't (which they very much are). It makes sense for the game design, and it is all fantasy worlds, but still. Grrrrr common misconceptions.
Cool card though. Strong if it lives but still vulnerable to removal which is nice to see sometimes.

Mark Rosewater addressed this when Ixalan first came out back in 2017. Here's a direct quote of the question he was asked, and the rationale that Mark gave:

"Q: How many comments have you gotten mentioning that Pterosaurs and their ilk are not actually dinosaurs?

    A: Plenty.

Here’s the problem. Flying prehistoric creatures like pterodactyls aren’t technically Dinosaurs. The majority of people though don’t know that and believe, in fact, that they are Dinosaurs.

    So we had two choices:

#1) Make the flying creatures in the Dinosaur faction not Dinosaurs. It educates players about actual science, but causes tribal issues for the Dinosaurs and upsets a large chunk of players.

#2) Make the flying creatures Dinosaurs. It helps the Dinosaur deck play better and matches expectation of the majority of players but upsets those that know it’s technically inaccurate.

In the end, we chose to go with the latter as it would make more players happy and aided gameplay."

Easy reasoning for why I had to be a cast clause

if It didn't the eternal formats would have warped for sure knowing reanimate, show and tell, sneak attack and Priest of Fell Rites

You mean just like every other creature that has an "if you cast it" clause? Lmao

I'd argue that the clause is more for EDH than it is for Legacy, Sneak and Show or Reanimator would rather just cheat in things that win the game more directly

My guy, did you actually read the article?

Did anyone? It was like a million word article and that piece of information was BURIED down in the last quarter of the GREAT TEXT WALL of China. Should have been included in the beginning with bullet points OR included in a summary at the end of the article. HORRIBLE way of passing on information. Brief concise instead of TLDR.

I agree that they should have made it more digestible, but it seems really silly to trash talk the article when you didn't even read it lmao

    So less cards per pack.
Price starting at Set Booster pricing. (What do you want to bet its more than the $5.98 or $6.48 that you pay at US box stores) I am guessing $6.98 or $7.48 pricing at box stores. Oh and a Play booster box price increase as well. Likely 30 packs in a Play booster box as well.

    Typical Less is More nonsense.

I would not be surprised to see in a year or two another pack product slotting in between Play boosters and Collector boosters at around 12 dollars a pack. You know they cant resist.

Quote from The Freaking Article »
Play Booster display boxes, however, will have 36 boosters like Draft Booster displays did (as two boxes are exactly enough for three 8-player drafts). Because that is six more boosters than Set Booster displays have right now, be aware the price of a Play Booster display box will be higher than that of a Set Booster display box.

My guy, did you actually read the article?

    Speaking of Modern horizons three

Oh crud that’s right… there’s gonna be more rares in those packs now so that makes it more likely than ever that moderns will break severely for the third time since rares/mythic will probably be easier to snag. (Hey look at it this way if they do the honorable mention of fetchlands again either enemy or more hopefully ally they will have an immense chance of dropping in price quite a bit.)

Ease of accessibility to mythics/rares won't have as much of an impact on the metagame as you seem to think.

That still doesn't change the fact that Draft Boosters were purposefully designed with an extremely low Expected Value (EV) to get Local Game Stores (LGSs) in financial debt and potential bankruptcy. Why do you think Set Boosters and Collector Boosters sold more? Because they had better pull rates for getting the best cards. If the Local Game Store (LGS) can pull the best cards then they can sell them as singles or actually turn a profit selling sealed product without being forced to dump it on Amazon at half the price.

Draft boosters were incidentally designed with a low EV in order to facilitate Limited play, not because it's some grand conspiracy to plunge LGSes into bankruptcy. More commons and uncommons in the pack to support Limited = fewer rares = lower EV. It's just basic critical thinking.
How do you think it would benefit the profitability of Magic for Wizards to cripple one of the biggest incentives for people to continue playing at the local level? Do you seriously believe that Magic would be sustainable if Wizards tanked a bunch of businesses supporting organized play? Magic can't continue to grow at its current rate if LGSes board up their windows and players are relegated to only playing with their friend circles. Many people would certainly continue to play and new people would still come into the game, but growth would slow significantly.
