We only have ten more legends to be revealed, is that right? I'm rather underwhelmed by the five reveals. If Sliver Queen is one of them, I'll pick this up, maaayybbeee Sliver Legion, otherwise its a no from me or I'll have to see what else is chosen...

Do you really think any amount of past debates amongst players (I really just see it as more of the same non-productive bickering) has changed WoTC's mindset pertaining to this game, moving forward? If there is any minutia of evidence it has, by all means, continue to do so.

It really doesn't bother me that hexproof is replacing shroud. As for the people complaining about it throughout this thread, I am constantly reminded every time a set is spoiled how glad I am that almost no one here has a hand in designing this game.

For all but a few cases Hexproof is better than Shroud, but there are situations like Abyss and Magus of the Abyss when it is not. If they continue to ramp up on Hexproof and not shroud, I wouldn't be surprised to see an increase in casual play of cards that force the controller to target.

I believe even in those situations, The Abyss and Magus Of The Abyss have been ruled as an ability controlled by your opponent (if your not the owner or controller of those permanents).

They said it was going on one green card, I'm pretty sure.

The person you might be referring to said green was getting two cards with bloodthirst.

I was actually hoping for a more relevant green bloodthirst tribal creature myself, but this crocodile has a good feel for the game. Smile

Thank you! This is my problem with people saying "We already use this terminology!". Using this logic, why is the ability of Thrun and Troll Ascetic now called Hexproof? It should be called Trollshroud, because that's what we all call it! Why are all cards discarded from the hand, all permanents are exiled from the battlefield to the exile zone, but only some die to the graveyard? Why can't they all be terminated or perished? Turns out, there are words that are close enough to die, but don't require the living prerequisite to be used in place of it.

In the long and wide world of fantasy history, can you point out examples of trolls being largely immune to magics other than from those who controls or own them outside of Mirrodin 1.0?

I'm glad everyone here who complained about trollshoud has no hand in designing this game.

And everyone here has used the phrase "mise". Should that become a game term?

    Lame...
This is honestly the first time I've ever heard mise used. So please, try again.

Everyone keeps complaining about Hexproof. Flavor wise, it makes perfect sense. Generally, when an opponent is trying to target your creature, it is to kill it or enchant it with something nasty. In the world of Magic, where you "cast" spells, these negative actions towards you or your creatures could easily be viewed as hexes.
So as far as I am concerned, Hexproof makes perfect sense and is damn flavorful. Good job Wizards.
And Chandra's Phoenix makes me wonder if Lightning Bolt is getting the boot or not... Frown

Word. I was going to post something similar backing WoTC's choice of "Hexproof." Up to now, "hexproof" has been predominately (if not exclusively) found on green creatures. In the eyes of a green mage, anything from a black or blue source targeting one of your creatures would probably be thought of as a "hex."

"Dies" is fine as well. EVERYONE here has used the phrase "dies to removal"...

The game is a lot different that it was when The Deck was around. Its been over a decade. -_-

Different metas, same results of quickly needing to look for answers to something that absolutely required them. You did notice I using the past to make a pertinent comparison, yes?

We don't even know if this guy is going to be more effective than Darksteel Colossus is/was.

So the game devolves into whether or not the opponent has Mark in hand to determine who wins? Why not just flip a coin instead?

I really don't see how this card is more problematic than how something like The Deck was nearly unbeatable back in its hey-day.

"But it ran BLUE and MADE you think how to LOCK-DOWN your opponent!!!"

I think they could've tacked on "Thrun can't have counters placed on it" as well without pushing him over the edge as too broken, dang it.

The crazy thing is, I wonder if he becomes tech in Infect decks as well..

It's stuff like this that makes me think Infect would do well in taking a look Wurmcoil Engine or Nantuko Shade as an option for an infect deliver mechanism such as Tainted Strike, or what have you.

Interesting. I smell a new future static keyword ability.

  • posted a message on What would infect need to make it a viable deck?
3-4 more green and black economically low costing infect creatures with aggressive bodies and stats, which we almost assuredly will be getting, a good proliferate engine, and reliable means for a BUG mana base. In other words, it needs an effective way to win games in the short or long range.
