I've already heard many an idiot making Karona jokes because of the pandemic, so I'm alright with this change.

Black sarcastic dark humor is often exactly what people need to get over very dire real life circumstances.

So i am all board for this kind of word plays, its amusing.

Some people sure. Others, who may have lost a loved one to the virus, may not be too keen on trying to play some Magic to make them feel better only to see a card that reminds them. Better to play it safe, imo.

So for commander you'd have to choose creature. Weird.

Nope. Since this card starts outside the game, you could choose another type. Not sure if your commander is considered part of your deck, but you could still get enchantment if you play the G/B God or artifact with the scarecrow if the commander is part of your deck.

Question: for creatures that are mutated, say I have one creature with one mutated creature below it, if they are blinked, do they come back as one or separated? A friend said it would work like meld, but since this article didn't address this, just asking for clarification.

We'll probably have to wait until the FAQ to see. My guess, is that they become separate cards in exile, then return as two separate creatures (the rules page notes that if a mutate card enters play in any other way, it's just a creature). This is a break from host/augment rules (I believe), but those are silverboarder plus augment can't be on the battlefield on its own.

    The whiners emerge once again.

If you don't recall, Magic was originally designed as a "time-filler" for D&D players while they were either immersed or waiting between campaign actions (or something to that effect), so Magic is heavily influenced by those sorts of games that use dice and such only in a different way. The ability counters will be clunky yes but honestly it will help with the flow and strategic clarity of the game and allow for smoother moves rather than guesswork. And if you're worried about ability counters, that's what sealable snack bags are for. No biggie.

I used to be an avid FFG fan... until I wasn't. I promise you, after not too long a time all those counters and cardboard gimmicks get super tiresome, and they're required for pretty much every one of their franchises. Until this very moment, Magic could be counted on as my safe haven from than nonsense. Trust me when I say that it's not quite as trivial as you make it out to be.

We've had cards that permanently grant abilities (such as Riot cards). We have cards that change power and toughness constantly. We have entire decks built around +1/+1 counters, -1/-1 counters, loyalty counters, etc. We have cards that trigger at specific points on your turn and can be missed. We have had abilities that return stuff to play with a modified P/T. We have had formats with two different types of face down card, each with slightly different rules. We have over 20,000 unique cards.

Magic is a complicated game. Having a few tokens, which don't require memorization as some of the things I mention above, is not going to kill the game. Is this really more egregious than having a Narset or Teferi out and forgetting that you can't draw a second card or play at instant speed? I don't really think so.

Just straight up removing the card from later printings? And not available at all in MTGO? Why can't they just replace it with the Void Invader version in packs/MTGO? I guess maybe for physical, there's too much proofing and what not. Still, this random uncommon is gonna be more valuable that the others. Though knowing the size of their usual first print, probably not too much. Kinda like that card that had the wrong P/T last year.

is anyone else tired of the best counterspells only hosing blue? this is 2-3 recently. blueis supposed to GET counters, not be the easiest target for them

Blue control players getting a taste of their old medicine. I'll allow it, even if I still absolutely hate Mana Leak and anyone who played it last time it was in standard.

I honestly want to see what the story behind this is.

Yeah, I don't think this is Zendikar.

Several groups on Zendikar worshiped the Eldrazi before they woke up. The triangular hole could be a thematic tie to the hedrons of Zendikar, indicating that this takes place there.

Well, there's been a lot of speculation she is the "female King Arthur."

In b4 all the weebs get alters of her with Saber in the art.

MaRo seemed very unfamiliar with the character when talking about him on Drive to Work. Apparently got dumped in at the last second cuz they didn’t have any other mono-B walkers and someone remembered that Sanderson’s book existed.

I am fairly certain you can't, as the new bag of holding is seen as a different entity than the one you had on the field previously, so it would not consider the exiled cards to be exiled by itself. Someone will probably drop by with all the proper rule references though.

This is probably one of the more frustrating rules of magic, because it seems counter intuitive and frustrating when you want to make cards like this work.

In some ways, yes, but in other ways no. Let’s say you have two Bag of Holdings out, each with a few cards exiled, and both get bounced to your hand then your opponent makes you discard one at random. Which one was discarded? When you play the one in your hand, which set of exiled cards do you get? Because card can go into hidden zones, the rules have separate out instances of a card such that any time one enters the battlefield, it is considered its own new thing.

    Did you get an email?
Did you get a message through eBay?
    Did it just show up?
I still haven't heard or seen anything

Mine came on Sunday and I had no email or message or anything. I didn’t even get the eBay credit. Just found a tube on my doorstep and it confused me for a few minutes since I wasn’t sure expecting it.

That is a REALLY interesting take on the Khans vs. Dragons cycle from Fate Reforged. I wonder if there's going to be another cycle of these?

Would be cool to have a cycle with the different two faction sets. Also giving the name of the set to the card would be amusing.

Green- Rise of the Eldrazi picks between Zendikari and Eldrazi

Red- Aether Revolt picks between Consul and the Rebels

Black- War of the Spark picks between Ravnica and Bolas

White- dunno Kamigawa for spirits/humans? Or maybe Mercadian Masques for rebel/mercenary? Or Invasion for Phyrexia/Coalition? Kamigawa might work since it was the unusual set to have a white villain.

The changes to the splice rules are huge. HUGE. Long overdue and makes me very excited.

Where did you see these changes? I didn't see them in the preview article.

I think they mean the change to “splice on instant or sorcery.” Makes it much easier to use than “splice on arcane.” I don’t think the splice rule changed, just this card uses a slight variation.

I love how Morophon can work for any tribe and not just the 5 color ones.

I'm just gonna shove a copy of him in every tribal deck I got.

Sadly, he can’t go in the 99 unless you’re already playing a five color commander.

But he can easily be the commander for any tribe, even if you don’t plan to play all five colors.

Has anyone got a refund for the shipping?

Yes. Or at least the refund shows as pending on PayPal. For the full amount too, including taxes.

I got the eBay message about canceling my order and I agreed to it. Probably should have waited but I just want to wash my hands of this mess. Eff WotC for all this. I collect planeswalkers and alt-art planeswalkers but I’m seriously considering stopping. I don’t really care if they’re limited or uber expensive, I just like them. But between only getting 1 of 3 mythic editions and the SDCC promos being obscenely expensive if you can’t go (which is most of us), they’re going way too far and I’m seriously considering if I want to just cut my losses. Maro talked recently about the “fun” of collecting. Yeah, this isn’t fun. This is throwing my money into a hole several times a year but most of the time it doesn’t even make the hole.
