No sideboard as of yet, but it definitely includes some amount of Rootborn defenses. Heliod seems really good in this deck. turn 4 5/6 indestructible that can make tokens if you run out of gas seems not terrible. He survives Supreme Verdict and can give you board presence afterwards.
how much of an idiot am i for wanting to make a deck with Heliod as the commander, and purposely staying off the devotion count just to power out 2/1's? My thinking is that i make him immune to Path and Swords, but isn't a 5/6 indestructible. I haven't seen much exile enchantments outside Return to dust, and Iona's Judgment/Altar's Light. Not sure how smart of a move this would be.
with Theros coming out soon, is there any chance that either the Gods or their weapons would be any good in this deck?
The Hammer of Purphoros is certainly an interesting card, but it doesn't protect us or deal the damage like Form of the Dragon does, so i'm not sold on that one. The Bow of Nylea provides some interesting abilities, the most notable being the 2 damage to a flyer or gaining 3 life, which requires that we have green mana to activate it, and is a bit of a non-bo with Peace of Mind.
All of the Gods will need at least two other enchantments out before they become creatures. Form and Meishin only have 3 colored mana symbols each, with the God that's only 4 devotion total. I think this really depends on how the rules update will count hybrid mana symbols towards devotion. If Dovescape gives us both 3 white and 3 blue devotion, Heliod is definitely playable. Thassa is more damage, a turn off the clock with Form, so i'd play one of both of these if it turns out this way.
Another interesting part of the spoiled cards are the bestow creatures. The archon is a better Lucent Liminid in this deck, and has first strike. Purphoros' Emmissary has a sort of evasion, but again, Form of the dragon is just better all around.
So, if i Clone a Prime Speaker Zegana, and sacrifice the clone, does the ETB trigger have a chance to resolve, letting me draw the cards before i have to sacrifice?
I think i don't get to draw, but i was just getting a second opinion here.
control has a real problem with Thrun, but i think the only way to beat it in standard right now is wait until they don't have the mana to regenerate and play Day of Judgment
I will admit, I have not read all 20 pages of this thread, nor am I going to, so if I'm stating something that's already been stated, please forgive me.
First, how can so many of you complain about something that you've not played with yet? I find it ridiculous and disrespectful that you have not even touched a double faced card and still you complain about them so much. I'll admit, I'm a little shaky on whether or not I'll like them, but I'm at least going to give them a chance before I declare that they're ass.
Second, and this is one of my pet peeves, Corroded Templar, I looked at your sig, do you realize that Mark Rosewater likely had nothing to do with Player Rewards being terminated and Non-store TOs not getting the same benefits as store-based TOs? He's the head designer, he isn't even a Vice President of anything, he's just the lead card designer.
Third, how are you people even considering yourselves sane that you're going to ignore an entire block over what amounts to less than 9% of the cards? If you don't like transform, fine. If you won't play with Innistrad cards because you don't like 20 cards out of the 229 card set (I'm not counting basic lands and I'm not counting transform cards as being 2 seperate cards), then you need to reevaluate your logic.
this, one million times over, directly in the face.
why is it that with almost every set nowadays some dunderhead *not naming any names, stop it mods* has to go out on a limb and say "ZOMG! MAGICZ END IS NIGH< HIDE UR KIDZ HIDE UR WIFE!" all the time, if you don;t like it, fine, dont play with it. i know maturity and the internet don't exactly meet eye to eye, but seriously? remember Rise? ZOMG! 15CC guys! 2012 came early! or how about worldwake? ZOMG! Planeswalker with 4 abilities! i hate you Mark Rosewater!! or Zendikar? LANDS? THAT"S THE BEST YOUVE GOT?? or M10? NOES! MY poor Sakura-Tribe Elders and Mogg Fanatics!! or, well, just about ay other set. go back into the archives of this forum and tell me i'm wrong. i dare you.
umm... all of them, those are all great, although the black one is a bit worse than the rest and the red is by a huge margin the best one out of those.
so, what would one take out for the aforementioned amazingly awesome ghoul? the 2 black 1drops i've got are carnophage and fume spitter, i'm thinking of dropping the spitter for the ghoul, carnophage is still great...

How good/bad does this sound?

Just some food for thought.
