If your opponent wants to decide the outcome of g3 on a dice roll and you don't want to just call a judge. That really is an incredibly serious violation that can result in a game loss.

wow ok everyone can shoot me it was my idea since I knew the guy from my LGS. There was no way to play game three the judge would have told us to draw since it was the only option or forced one of us into an unwanted game loss. If I face you or the other people that are reprimanding me for it then I will take the draw or call a judge. There was no way I would have gone much further since everyone was playing GB/Junk/Jund and I can't beat that. I had more fun drafting. Would you guys shut up about it now?

Rolling dice to determine a match result is a serious rules violation, isn't it?

It is, but he seemed relentless about not playing a third game and I would have felt bad drawing because it takes us both out. Out of 1460 players, I'm pretty sure we weren't the only ones to do it that early on. I knew I would have won that third game though... stupid timer.

There was no point continuing on except to play for fun. Only X-2-0 makes it to day two according to the judge. So I decided to play some sealed games - which was awesomely fun. I played sealed (no cut to t8) M14 for first prize of entire foiled M14 set. Sadly I got 12th out of 39 so no cards for me.

Still had a blast. Pulled a foil goyf and a bob in 10 packs of MMA.

Short recap of detroit. Ran stock list

    Match 1
    GR Tron
Game 1 I denied him karn, he hit the eye, but wurmcoils got in for the win.
Game 2 I sided in 3 chalice, 3 trickbind, 2 spreading seas. He got to turn 4 karn and I scoop.
Game 3 I turn 1 pithing needle expedition map, turn 2 chalice for 1 turn three tron mana chalice for 2, play o-stone. He scooped.

    Match 2
    Jund
Game 1 and Game 2 - I can't beat thoughtseize into IOK/DRS, into lili, into goyf. He litterally did that twice in a row.

    Match 3
    GW Hatebears
Game 1 I almost had the slaver lock, but he beat down with wilt leaf
Game 2 I almost had the slaver lock, but he edged my ruins and beat with wilt leaf.
    Stupid bears.

    Match 4
    UWR Control
Game 1 he goes pretty smooth, I get down to 2 life with 2 wurmcoils on board and he topdecks electrolyze. Oh well.
Game 2 Goes awesome, I hit the slaver lock but we have literally 10 seconds left on the round. We were both x-2 so if we drew it would suck for us both. So we rolled 5 dice for the game 3 win. I rolled 17 he rolled 30. Slant I dropped after that. No point in playing x-3

I feel like Theros gave us nothing. Repeal beats out Voyages End. Swan Song is tempting, but not in modern. Stymed hopes seems unplayable. If people will pay for spell pierce, they will pay for this. Past turn 3 or 4 I don't see it being playable.

    Whole set's been spoiled.
Any new thoughts now that everything is revealed?

Agreed. I've been looking for a Badlands and Scrubland for 2 years and can't find those for $50 each even in SP-MP condition. I doubt you'll be able to grab all of them at an average of $50 when I can't even find 2 of the cheapest ones for that price.

Start talking blue duals and we are talking minimum of $80 and those would be beat.

You're not looking hard enough - i bought a playset of badlands at $45 a piece and 2 scrublands at $50 each all on ebay.
I also scour the midnight sales...

For people curious of attendance the TO (PES) has set for 1400 and expect at least 1100 to be for the modern constructed. I asked them when I registered today.

Is the any reason people are running Talisman of Dominance over Talisman of Progress?

    Trade with a friend.

    Pile A:
    Celestial Colonnade x3
    Stomping Ground x4
    Geist of Saint Traft

    Pile B:
    Vendilion Clique (Morning Tide)
    Geist of Saint Traft (Foil)

^I really wanted/needed Clique and foil Geist, while a friend needed A. But I'm not sure if I got too hasty or not.

    Pile A:
    Vraska, the Unseen

    Pile B:
    Restoration Angel (foil Promo)

    First one:
I would call this alright. I think personally I would have kept the stomping grounds, but if you needed the cards it looks fair.
    Second One
    Pile B.

Editor's Warning: This has absolutely nothing to do with the card Nihilistic Glee. I just thought it was a cool name.

    Nihilistic Glee

Do you enjoy suicide? Do you enjoy forcing others to commit suicide? Do you enjoy watching things die? Do you enjoy watching them bleed out slowly? How about all at once?
If you said yes to any of these questions, the Cult of Rakdos may want a word with you. And you may like this deck. Its a deck that really has no right winning any sort of match - but it does. And it's fairly consistent. If played right, you can win at almost any point, and if played wrong, you will lose almost all of the time.

The point of this deck is to fling some monstrous creature at your opponent's face. And hopefully have fun doing it.
We can achieve this in one of four main-deck ways: Death's Shadow, Wall of Blood, Necrotic Ooze with the wall in your graveyard, and Ceaseless Searblades with Lavaclaw Reaches (activating reaches for 0 as many times as needed). Having acquired some kind of hideous monstrosity, you can use Rite of Consumption or Soul's Fire to kill your opponent. If they have some form of protection, Ooze and Searblades can just attack for however much damage. Plunge into Darkness and Faithless Looting let you dig for whatever you might need. Sign in Blood does too, but it also lets you deal that extra little bit of damage to yourself for Death's Shadow, or to the opponent (since Wall might not outright kill them). And this is possibly the ONLY deck in which Dash Hopes might be good. Keyword here being might.

I'm sure there are a bunch of cards that would work great in here, but I can't think of any off the top of my head. So I figured I'd post this and see what other options exist.

I see rite of consumption mentioned in OP, but not in decklist? Any reason?

What do you guys usually do to beat urw control, I have found my self a little bit below .500 on the matchup, I mean I get baiting counterspells but usually a resolved sowing salts is so crippling that I can't recover, I have swapped spell pierce with negates in my sb to see if that might give me a better shot.

sowings salts isn't ever crippling to me, I don't see how it can be. Yeah it stops you from hitting tron, but UWR is such a long MU (unless its the geist version) that it doesn't matter.

I asked Reid Duke on MTGO if he plans on being there, he said yes. Also asked LSV if he was going, and said he wasn't sure. This was three weeks ago or so. Both were playing in Modern queues on MTGO tonight, so it stands to reason they were testing for something. Maybe LSV decided he should head up here.

Not sure who they were but I saw some CF tshirts at the airport tonight (I work at metro detroit airport). So I imagine a large number of folks

That's the thing I'm trying to build a sideboard now. I'm wondering if I'm missing anything important for jund because I never really bring much in. Like is there anything in the stock md we particularly don't want against jund?

What I've come up with at the moment is
    4 Dismember
    4 Spreading Seas
    3 Spell Pierce
    2 Spellskite
    2 Squelch

But as I said I've basically ignored jund in building that.

I don't side out my sad robots or mages at all against jund - chump blockers help quite a bit. dismember as well.
