What about Ertai? The wizard/mage looks "blue" flavored enough and the menicing scowl kind-of reminds me of evil Ertai. Maybe the odd magics de-phyrexified him?
Hey, we just did this cool assignment in my Crit. Writing class, and I thought, hmm...cool idea....why don't I post a thread and see what happens.
So, here's the idea.
1) Write a 55 word story that has plot, character, conflict, resolution, and setting.
2) Write a 250 word sentence. It may or may not be an entire story, that's up to you guys.
Some points:
- Both must have titles, but titles don't count as part of the number of words. However, don't make a 100 word title on the 55 word story, that's just cheating ;).
- A sentence...just for clarification...should not have more than one semi-colon.
- You can post more than one story of each type and don't have to have both stories on a single post if you don't want to.
- Comment on the stories/sentences if you want, but criticize critically, not just to flame.
Efficient Digestion :1mana::symr::symg:
Sorcery
Each player may sacrifice any number of lands he or she controls.
Then each player puts a land into play under his or her control that has ":symtap:: Add X mana of any one color to your mana pool." where X is equal to the number of lands that player sacrificed.
How did a forty-ton mound of rock turn into that little thing?
Grrr.
Genju Warden
Enchant Artifact Land
: Enchanted land becomes a 2/2 Artifact Spirit creature with ":symtap:: Search your library for a card with "Genju" in its name and put it into your hand. Then, shuffle your library." until end of turn. It’s still a land.
When enchanted land is put into a graveyard, you may return Genju Warden from your graveyard to your hand. "I'm not sure, but it sure is cuuuuute!"
Next: Plop, plop. Fizz, fizz. Oh, what a wonderful relief it is!
First of all, interesting concept. Secondly, yes, Magic, specifically black, needs more cards that kill things, whether they have been played or not. However, though I understand what the card does based on your explanation, it did not make any since by itself. The first question that came to mind was "Aren't creature spells and creatures the same thing?" but then I realized that they weren't. Anyway, the casting cost seems a little too black for the ability, maybe it should be :3mana::symb::symb: or :2mana::symu::symb: and the wording needs to be shaped up a little, so that players realize that it can deal with creatures as they are cast.
Oh, and thanks to Le Chat for realizing that I forgot to put a classic ability in one of the cards I created - shuffling a library after tutoring.
New Card:
Example - :2mana::symu:
Sorcery
Search your library for a non-creature permanent and put it into play. Shuffle your library. At the end of your turn, shuffle that card into your library.
I didn't know if it should be one or two colorless mana, but I guess you should decide:-)
Ictalru, Doomed Angel :5mana::symw::symw::symw:
Legendary Creature - Angel
Flying, First Strike
Ictalru, Doomed Angel is Indestructible as long as it is the only Angel in play.
If you gain life, you gain X life instead, where X is equal to the number of permanents you control. All the world was at his feet... but he had forgotten about the heavens.

Edit: Grrrr...sniff...huum.
Iron Gullet :1mana::symb::symb:
Enchant Creature
Whenever enchanted creature deals damage to a creature, put a gullet counter on Iron Gullet.
At the beginning of your upkeep, destroy all creatures with a converted mana cost equal to or lower than the number of gullet counters on Iron Gullet. "Now let me show you the difference between dessert and desert" ~ Gix

Countess of Passion, hmm, interesting name...what can I say? The price is excellent. I like how it helps both you and your opponent, reminds me of two older cards, can't remember the names thought...ones the Orcish Or. something that gives all attacking creatures +1/+0 and the other is the one that buffs up red creatures and is a mana flare.
I posted this on another thread, but I thought it was kind of interesting.
Bauble of Thought -
Artifact
:2mana:, Sacrifice Bauble of Thought: Search your library for two copies of Bauble of Thought and put them into play.

Temporal Flux - :2mana::symu::symu:
Enchantment
At the end of your turn, simultaneously remove all permanents other than Temporal Flux from the game and return to play all permanents removed from the game with Temporal Flux your last turn. I will see what I will think once I have seen what I had thought.

Next: Seemingly, Thyli had been rid of them; but, they hid.
Demonic Paladin :1mana::symb::symb:
Creature - Human Knight
First Strike, Protection from White
:2mana::symb:, Sacrifice Demonic Paladin: Put a 3/3 black demon token with fear into play under your control.
"To feel, to fear, to fall, and blood will run for all."

Sushi, Iron Chef - :2mana::symb::symb:
Legendary Creature - Rat Chef
Sacrifice a non-land permanent: Gain X life, where X is equal to that permanent's converted mana cost.
Sacrifice a creature: Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature or that creature gains fear. "Do you want the mystery meat combo or the rat-tail soup?" - Sushi, IronChef

Pheldagriffkey - :3mana::symu::symw::symg:
Creature - Pheldagriff Monkey
:symu:: Pheldagriffkey gains flying. Target opponent draws a card.
:symw:: Pheldagriffkey gains protection from a color of your choice. Target creature opponent controls gains protection from all colors.
:symg:: Regenerate Pheldagriffkey and put a 1/1 monkey token with flying into play under target opponent's control. Years ago, when a child asked the question, "What is the strangest animal?" you could answer, "The Pheldagriff, honey." But now...who knows.

A utility card, nice. I think you should have the player shuffle the library after you search for the land, otherwise it is too powerful. Oh, and the casting cost is too high, maybe or and :symb::symb::symr::symr::symg::symg:. Interesting legend, and the flavor text was great.
Synthesize
Instant
Put the top card of your library into you hand.
:2mana::symu:: Return Synthesize to your hand. You may play this ability only if Synthesize is in your graveyard. At the acadamy, knowledge was one thing. Using that knowlege was another.

You may pay [u/w] with W.
