Oh man that is some reach for zombies. Even if you just scry 2 and your opponent loses 2 life. That's pretty decent. His second ability is pretty sweet. Could see some play.
Wow at the New Perspective player punting vs Martin Juza Mono Black Zombies. I do not see how he loses that match if he casts Fumigate instead of New Perspective. You game 7 life, and you give yourself most likely two turns to survive and pull out the combo win. Such a greedy play.
IMO bolt is not Unplayable and when we had Theros and R/W burn was a deck shocks with lightning strikes were amazing. Bolt would of been Way too strong then. Hence the reason why shock is good.
If white gets a 4 mana unconditional wrath and blue gets mana leak you better sure as heck give red straight up Lighting Bolt.
Agree otherwise.
Wrath and Leaks were in the format when Bolts were not for a year. Both did not warp the format, and Red was still heavily played (Pillar flame, galvanic blasts, gut shots) were in the format.
Bolt, IMO is a very strong card and for the longest time was the most powerful card in Modern.
Bolts are something that are good at all moments of a game where wrath's are terrible vs control, and Mana leaks can be played around. As an aggro player, Bolt caused me way more problems then wrath and Leak did.
I am of the belief that each color should get they're signature card back.
Not the overly powerful ones like counterspell, lightning bolt, or thoughtsieze but cards that people are use to playing back when magic 2010 first updated the combat rules.
White - as an aggro player I see nothing wrong, and I even hope for a 4 Mana uncondional wrath. It adds tension and punishes players for over extending. It made games for me so much fun.
Blue - one Mana cantrips that don't suck or Mana leak. Mana leak is a fair counter spell. I liked it in the format.
Red - two Mana instant speed burn like lightning strike. The lack of burn right now is terrible.
Green - one Mana Mana dork please. I still have no idea why they took them away. They were not too powerful but as other decks lost weapons, green had to as well.
Black - doom blade. Black has had some good removal spells for two Mana but none of them scale well. Doom blade answers a lot of problems black face.
Not having instant speed 3 damage to face face for less than 3 mana is a major culprit. We have the creatures, and have some decent sorcery spells but nothing at instant speed.
Incendiary Flow is Sorcery
Flame lash is 4 mana
Collective Defiance is 3 mana sorcery
I feel if they print a 2 mana instant speed burn spell that deals 3 dmg and can be used for face or creature you solve the rdw issue. It would not be too strong, and it will answer two problems wizards has right now. More answers and a way for newer players to play a cheaper deck.
I think Zombies might actually be competitive, but blue got some many weapons, that can get slotted into Saheeli and make it stronger. Manglehorn slows down the combo, for a turn. Cast could stop the combo, but its 4 mana.
Black does get Trespasser's curse out of the sideboard. Slows down opposing aggro decks as well. I just do not know if it is enough to slow down the combo
So I have been playing Various Energy decks since the release of Kaladesh, and I think it is still a good deck to play when Amonkhet comes out with the additions of some new cards.
The First card is Glorybringer. a 4/4 for 5 with haste is a beating. The fact that it has flying and the fact it is a Pseudo Flametongue Konvu is an even bigger Benefit. Before, the decks finisher for me was Verderous Gearhulk which is still a great card to play. However, I feel that people are going to maindeck Manglehorn which makes Gearhulk a little bit riskier. Also, being able to turn 4 Arlinn, turn fly Glorybringer is nuts.
The second creature is Khenra Charioteer. Straight Red Green Energy had a giant issue with the 3 drop. I could play Electrostatic pummeler but I am not a huge fan of the all in route, and with more answers to artifacts again a little risky. I hate Hatnu Hellion, because I hate being forced to use my energy when I don't want to use it. Charioteer solved this problem. Its a solid 3 drop in itself, but it allows me to push through damage with gigantic Longtusk cubs and Bristling Hydras.
You do not need 4 Rhonas, and 3 samut. Both of those cards are horrible in multiples. I would go 2 for each
Also, Hazoret is not very good in this deck so I would cut Hazoret as well.
I would go 4 of Greenbelt Rampager. Also 22 Lands might be an issue. You do not have a lot of low drop creatures, which means you want to hit your land drops. Anything less than 23 would be bad. Attune is nice, but playing attune on turn 3 to hit your land drop makes your curve hurt a lot.
Yep. That Colorless mana was introduced during Battle for Zendikar Block and it is to be considered the "6th" color of mana. (granted only creatures from one set ever need it) but it is is called "Waste" mana. So if it generic colorless you can tap any many for that, however if it is Waste mana with a Diamond which actually is a Hedron, then you have to tap lands that give you that Hedron.
Also note that mana from Channeler cannot be used to tap for that mana.
I really like the way this deck looks. Think this would be good for me as a new player?
As a new player I think the above list is more than fine. A couple of things to look out for
Land Sequencing because of needing Colorless mana to cast Thought knot and Reality smasher will be key. Good thing is those cards are late drops so prioritize Green mana the first three turns.
Knowing where to place -1/-1 counters is going to be key as well.
Other than that the deck plays pretty straight forward. Just beat face, and have fun.
Based off of two spoilers I am thinking that R/G madness could be pretty Fun. With the Spoiling of Bloodrage Brawler we have our second two drop which can help with madness. Brawler allows us to discard when it enters the battlefield plus it is a beefy 4/3. Noose Constrictor allows us to Discard at any time. The huge pay off is Honored Hydra being embalmed on turn 4 or Incorrigible youths attacking by turn 3. The rest of the deck is filled out with pretty aggressively costed creatures which interact well with discarding or playing of non creature spells.
Red Green Madness looks super fun. This Being able to discard Honored Hydra is great. And now Green as a 2 drop which allows you to discard it, and now red has a 2 drop which allows you to discard it. The new one drop also grows now when you discard. Deck will be a lot of fun.
My favorite Magic card is Vengevine. I love playing creatures and I love recursion and I love hasty beaters. Vengevine did all that, as well as having dope art.
Also red green madness in standard could be fun.

We will see how this all shapes out
