I just restarted MTGO and I have a decent pool of tix (45 per month- currently at 20) and I get the idea on speculating. I am looking for long term and short term flips, and I don't mind sitting on stuff for a while. I just like the idea of making less tix into more tix.
Which bots do you use for buying? For Selling?
What is a good profit margin on MTGO?
Where are the best sites, and threads for speculation information?
I've had a pretty good history for safe speculation in paper magic, but with the opportunity cost so low in MTGO I am looking at more medium or high variance options too, any suggestions on places I could find a bit more ambitious gambles?
Eh, I play Legacy Burn, and the deck just gets better every few sets (more consistent turn 3 kill). Modern Burn feels almost playable. I run mono R, R/w, and R/b, but I felt that there was too much lifegain incidently in Modern and no really solid way to combat it (Legacy has Sulfuric Vortex, praise be unto it.). Like, in Modern I keep seeing kitchen finks and that is basically a three for one against us.
TL: DR- Kitchen Finks is a one card army against modern burn.
The things going for this deck, especially the version I am running, is that it attacks quickly and from an odd angle- with only a big weakness to discard- while being fairly cheap over all. The deck could use tweaking for sure, but I think it could steal an FNM on occasion. The problem there is a playset of duress really ruins your day.
The sideboard is interesting though. I put a space between the two sets. So now the deck has 4 options of attack- Lightning Storm, Zombie Infestation, Shelldock Emrakul, Inkmoth Cathedral. You just put in 2 or 3 of them and go to town. I think you always keep the Lighting, since it can just win as a topdeck. Still, fun to test.
I am giving up a wee bit of redundancy for a lot more option, I am not sure this is correct, but it is worth trying.
Bojuka Bog- mainboard is just hateful, and I like it that way. We don't have to play against dredge to make it useful either, plenty of decks run little things, and this can help there too.
Desolate Lighthouse- Comes in with Emrakul to set up your shelldock. Draw all your lands, activate discarding Emrakul, play a shelldock.
Alchemist's Refuge- I have no idea if it is good or not for protecting your SB cards by flashing them in. Something to try out, may be too slow.
Ok so, I know I would want Zombie Infestation in my sb version of this.
But I am not sure if I would want to have Emrakul, the Aeons Torn- how do I consistently get it under a shelldock?
With Zombie Infestion + Emrakul, the Aeons Torn -pulling out the Storm adding 2 Zombie Infestion 1 or 2 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, I can grab the lands up, discard Emrakul once I only have a few cards left in the library and have a much higher chance of flipping it.
Adding 1- Eiganjo Castle- a few legendary land that protects our legends at almost no cost.
Voting out:
1- Isamaru, Hound of Konda- a fine one drop, but unexciting and we lack the support to truly commit to a good aggro deck, where this hound shines.
1- Glissa Sunseeker- I like her, but she is the worst of our Legends, and def. a sideboard type card.
1- Predator, Flagship- strong but slow, we already have plenty of late game and probably don't want to tie up our mana with clunky removal.
2- Sylvan Scrying- we don't need to search for basics, and we have sisay to fish up non-basics, few of which are worth the tempo and CA disadvantage the scrying would put on.
And that wraps us. Now we just pray that no one plays Price of Progress and we are good!
I just want to point out that you can build a very friendly, fun, understandable deck for under 10$ and that will be much better for her actually understanding how to play than any legacy deck.
That said, burn is probably the best since it is just counting to 20 most games. (I'd venture for creatureless burn at this point)
The Scepter isn't really needed later as you are pumping out tons of 1/1s and stealing creatures. Also pinging for one doesn't help you survive like tapping down a strong creature and making chump blockers does.
I am also in favor of adding 4 Swords to Plowshares (they are cheapish and amazing).
You probably only one 1-2 tutors, since they aren't card advantage and you have so many multiples in the deck.
The options I see either involve letting the weaker two get stomped until they build up their deck strength (good time for deckbuilder tips) or for you to run a weak deck that naturally lightly hoses RDW.
Toxic Deluge- I really like the card, but there aren't too many black decks that want to board sweep. That said, I think this now the best board sweep in Legacy and is very splashable.
True-Name Nemesis- I don't really think it is all that great, but it could be run in smatterings. Probably the most playable.
Widespread Panic- I'd love to see a U/R deck that is all about punishing greedy manabases. This card fits into that shell. Maybe also playable in red in general.
Restore- 2 mana to get back a wasteland is nice. I don't know what deck wants these other than some sort of Loam/Crucible deck, and I don't know if that deck has space for these.

I feel like all of the above gives the deck a lot more viability against Leyline and Aggro.
I don't see too many ways to lose- games 2/3 a smart counter opp will just counter the hunts and you lose.
EDIT:
4 Catherdrals and all 4 Inkmoths could be main for a lot of pressure too.
Maybe the dual push is best?

I'd only run 1 or 2 of 1 or 2 of these. No more than 4 total.
Shroud is also an option:
Also, Scepter of Empires is pretty weak, I'd consider dropping down to 2 or 3 of them just to combo with. It is def. the worst card in the deck.
-2 Scepter of Empires
-1 Dispense Justice
+ 2 Frantic Salvage
+1 Remember the Fallen
Is what I'd test out first.
And some other color shifting cards in blue. Janky control that should have you and RDW duel it out, letting the pressure off your weaker friends.
4 Predator Ooze
4 Mitotic Slime
4 Experiment One
2 Gobbling Ooze
3 Renegade Krasis
4 Gyre Sage
