Decrying sexism is not enough, every community member should embody an "its about the Gathering" ideal.
Thank you for being "loud" about this, and don't stop.

Utterly unique and off the wall. Downright bizarre abilities, typing and casting cost! Yet somehow she is an outstanding general that strikes the balance between "cutthroat" and "casual" perfectly, singlehandedly enabling the group hug archetype in those colors. Her art is beautiful and her backstory relatable.
(Runners up for me would be Birthing Pod, Eye of the Storm, and Johnny, Combo Player because I am one.) - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Casual misogyny is HILARIOUS GUYZ!!!1
Spark is pretty common obviously, but I am gobsmacked that they used this name tbh.
BUT
WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY did they make the guildmages tap? Every time one is spoiled I feel like they missed an opportunity for late game mana sink and utility, but this is by far the most egregious example. If they weren't going to be limited to "only good one time" abilities, and they weren't going to be strong enough to be balanced by a (usually) single use, WHY DO THEY TAP?! I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!
- a "remove a counter to do something" tangent mechanic, as people have been saying, but also
- a "whenever a counter is placed on this" mechanic, but limited by Adapt's single trigger, allowing for more powerful effects
There is room for tokens to have afterlife as well, which is nice, and it isn't technically limited to creatures (i.e. an enchantment presided over by a spirit who can enter combat when the enchantment is destroyed). Doubt they will fully explore this mechanic since design tends to be more linear/pre-solved these days.
what masterpiece would this one be? Not Ancient Stirrings surely?
The question I have is how this plays well with other guilds. If it lets other people play spells, that would lead me to guess that
- simic/gruul abilities will include everyone's creatures instead of just yours,
- orzhov and azorius will count spells played/permanents on the battlefield
Assuming it is indeed this.
I agree with you, and think this will lead to the eventual abolishment of the reserved list.
Either way, I doubt the volume of this printing is enough to offset current card prices by the amounts the average player should want. Currently, if one wants prices to stay high as an elitism thing, then this is the right game for you. I sincerely hope Wizards, Hasbro, and the business-side powers-that-be prove this to be false, and make the game more accessible by crashing the secondary card market.
No arguments about cyclonic rift, actually. Could've been better that way. But I meant more broadly: what does izzet do? play this deck and find out.
Same for boros; however un-powerful, that is definitely a boros deck.
And then specifically... obviously its hard to satisfy everyone with 60 or fewer reprints, but of all the iconic cards from each pair that could've been in, I can't think of better choices than glare, shattering spree, privileged position, glimpse! helix! legion loyalist?! 14 reprinted legends with new card frame for EDH wet dreams!
I thought they would be a lot worse considering the history Wizards has with the word "iconic." But these lists are satisfying however you slice it.
