MTG Salvation

I am trying to get into modern a little more now that Ravnica shock lands have been reprinted and was wondering if anyone had any competitive lists based around Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas and Birthing Pod.

While it was in standard I played a version of Conley Wood's Tezzeret Glissa, the Traitor deck with pod in it and I really liked how the deck ran but I can't really find any lists that are using Mr. Bolas's right hand man right now.

Any links to lists or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks guys and gals.

I thought this question be relevant due to the high number of decks, not all tier 1, that can essentially gain infinite life in our current standard meta.

I generally don't concede until I have been beaten, which I feel like is what most magic players do. However I recently moved a town over and have had to get used to a new meta at my fnm's, a lot less sharks and a lot more new players in their first year or two of the game who scoop when a lifelinked indestructable Boros Reckoner takes damage. I like to follow moments like that with a "are you done with your turn?" and not a "good game" because I have not actually been beaten.

So when do you scoop?

When you have no way to beat the opponent?

Or when the opponent actually beats you?

Do you make them get that last point of damage in or do you see the inevitablity of certain games, lack of outs etc, and move on to the next game?

Or something else?

Was playing a two player edh game, my opponet had a Keiga, the Tide Star and I copied the Keiga via my Clone. My opponet wants to take control of my general and so I decide I want to take control of my general as well, what happens?

Technical breakdown on who decides 1st and whos ability resolves first etc please, trying to be a better player.

Am I the only one who thinks Niv is trying to figure out how to planeswalk as his grand experiment? That seems like a power he would really want to try and obtain. It makes sense if you consider all the lore surrounding that micro plane where szadek was supposedly sent.

the title says it, I am finally trying to make a Doran EDH after saying I would forever and am looking for low cmc creatures with a high toughness to just have a super aggressive Doran, the seige tower deck, basically looking for Grizzled Leotau quality of cards or ones with high toughness and good utlitiy

You dont really have anything good to do in the early game your deck just seems to be some reactive burn and then very top heavy titans with that in mind here are some of my suggestions..

If you are going with big walkers as your finishers then it should be 2 Karn and 1 Bolas, or 1 and 1

Here are some cards that I have had a lot of success with in the grixis contol lists

Snapcaster Mage this should be an auto include in your deck, i know they are expensive but they are for a reason

Phantasmal Image or Phyreixan Metamorph either or and dependant on your meta

Olivia Voldaren Sometimes she is just a good sideboard card but other times she can just blow out creature heavy creature decks

Vampire Nighthawk This guy gives you something to do in the early rounds of the game and can help gain you back some life if you have a slow start

Finally its up to you on removal but Black Sun is really not well positioned right now, its too slow for infect, it doesnt really effect tokens because its planeswalkers mostly, zombies will just undying back with a bigger threat or just throw the gravecrawlers back at you and delver will just counter you, so more burn / black removal is a better choice in general, I agree with Bonfire of the Damned as a more potent mass removal choice in grixis. More ponder and or Think Twice decide on a few heavy creature threats. Six Titans is too much.

Just putting it out there for peoples opinions or experiences, I play junk tokens at FNM and have been wanting to try Bone Splinters because it almost functions as a catch all for the tech especially since you should really never be short on creatures, I'm not saying you should run four, but one or two? Opinions?

So I don't contribute to this when you guys are making the card but this one was so awesome I just had to say, bravo friends and keep up the good work.

Not really useful in an actual green deck but Force of Savagery would have to be my favoriate green card, it does lots of fun things especially in edh and its easy to break, my Kresh the Bloodbraided deck loves it.

I think it would be cool to have a reaper creature type, the "reaper" creature has seen a lot of play in contemporary entertainment and I know it might overlap with demon or horror or a large variety of other creatures but it feels like reaper could have its own design space around creature sac or death touch like specters do

Are you talking cards that will never be reprinted standard? Or just no reprint altogeather because a lot of these cards have been printed a crap ton for various reasons, for example Path to Exile is in like almost every precon with white now adays similarly are cards like Brainstorm which could never go standard. However with all the different special precons and ftv type deals, i think almost everything thats not on the reserve list has a chance of being reprinted in some shape or form depending on if wizards finds a theme a relevant duel deck like with Urza's Rage.

Whats gonna really be bullcrap about this is that your gonna have to preorder soon to get it at your LGS and then you wont find out until a week before that you just dropped $75 on the foiled out generals from last year's commander. Seriously wizards print policy is getting really janky

A toss up on 3rd Choice, both have produced some epic art but Chan in more recent memory, Silverblade Paladin and of course Jace, the Mind Sculptor

Yes the 2nd Glacial Fortress will also come into play tapped, Glacial Fortress checks for the land type island or plains when you play it and Glacial Fortress has neither of those land types.

You can look at Hallowed Fountain as an example of a non basic that has the subtype island and plains, Glacial Fortress is missing those subtypes and one is required to enter the battlefield untapped.
