No, the shuffler gets mad at players all the time. It holds grudges. Next time you build a Limited deck and go to "Add Lands" I'd wager most of you hit "Suggest" then adjust the land count to what you think fits better.
NEVER DO THIS.
Always, ALWAYS take the program's suggestion. It's like a woman; if you ask for a suggestion and then don't use it it becomes a bitter ***** and will screw you over when you least need it to. Playing mono blue and the shuffler suggests a random Forest? Take it and don't ask questions. You will be rewarded. Me and friends have tested this and discovered that if you go against the suggestion you will have mana problems; if you take whatever suggestion it gives 90% of the time you have perfect mana.
Drafted a similar deck (only 1 undead alchemist, more flyers + Curse of the Bloody Tomes) and 3-0'd online. It was so fun to play that I put together a casual Standard Zombie Mill deck. In either format they are just silly to play and even your opponent laughs about the horde half the time.
10 Checklists to come with the other 9 in the pack they're making sure there will be enough checklists to go around. The Lili art on the box is kinda meh to me.
It's one of the few Lilliana arts where she is actually attractive...
I don't think some of you know what Gothic horror even is; you have a few inklings of what helps compose it and you are sticking to that mindset. Gothic fiction is actually very, very broad and, so far, Wizards has stuck to its traditional conventions very well.
Dragons are a traditional Gothic fiction staple. The dragon is fine. Essence of the Wild is a super-mythic feeling card and "avatar" is probably the most appropriate creature type; the supernatural, a fear of going into the forest, and/or doppelgangers is well-situated in Gothic fiction. Skaab Ruinator would be a little too strong at rare, IMO, and has a good ability that is, quite frankly, outside of its normal place of the color wheel--that alone should earn it mythic status.
It's funny that a lot of people say Mikaeus is fine at mythic status when it is actually the most generic (aside from maybe the dragon) of all the mythics spoiled so far.
Everyone needs to remember that Gothic fiction is actually very broad and includes a lot of things that aren't commonly thought of. You think of Frankenstein's monster, vampires, cathedrals, and werewolves--which are all fine--but don't realize that monks, angels, and Jews, among many other things, are all deeply rooted in Gothic horror as well.
Day of Judgment will likely be reprinted (although don't quote me) and there is still Massacre Wurm, Slagstorm, etc. Innistrad will have some things, as well.
He also says that Master Splicer is the best non-rare, white card in NPH. Am I being stupid in disagreeing? I at least think that Blinding Souleater is better. Probably just me though.
Blinding Souleater is an artifact so wouldn't really be a better "white card".
If I'm playing to win I'd likely take the Volt Charge. If I'm playing strictly for fun (yes, people do that) I would probably pick the Master Splice simply for the fact that I think red is the least fun color in Magic. For someone to make a video and make that pick, however, I'd certainly disagree with it.
I'm sorry but I played in the era of all of those cards and I had 4 of each of them and none of them cost me more than $20. I payed $20 each for Cursed Scroll back in the day and at that time it was one of the only rares in the $20 bracket. All of the other cards I got for under $20 or was able to trade for.
I won't quote him on those prices but I don't see them being far off. I know that when I quit playing at one point Kokusho, Cranial Extraction, and Arcbound Ravager were all over $20 each. The Standard before that had Exalted Angel that was just at or slightly above $20. That was also 7 years ago so add a few bucks to make an accurate comparison.
Top tier decks are always expensive. $70 Jace is pretty crazy, yeah, but very few cards get even close to those levels and Jace is played in a crazy number of top placing decks. Keep in mind that Jace is an outlier and most competitive cards are comparable in price to what was had 7-10 years ago.
And what deck is coming even close to $1000? Caw-Blade is probably one of the more expensive decks and it is only $6-700 tops.
Karn is going to be interesting. I figured that after Rise of the Eldrazi and the direction of PW's it was only logical for Karn to be the next colorless PW as a foil to the first multicolor PW.
If they have Gideon Jura and Jace The Mind Sculptor in 2012 I'm buying a case of booster boxes. I can starve for 2 weeks. lol. There'd be no way in hell that I'd miss out on my chance to get x4 Jace this time around.
If you are eating $250 in food a week you need to cut back, lol.
Magic has stayed relevant in card games because it continuously rotates and changes to stay fresh. It's about time new walkers were put into a core set because the old ones were starting to become stale. Garruk and Jace are still useful and strong while Lilliana and Ajani were falling behind significantly. I'd still like to see Chandra replaced considering she is borderline useless and her character is bland.
Actually, it's a clunky imitation of Phyrexian Plaguelord, which is how the Rock deck got its name... JTN is a great card, but it's not reusable removal.
I agree that you probably don't need white, but the mana is so easy there's almost no reason not to. You get a potent sweeper, a great PW, the best T2 play in Standard, and a tutor.
As a bit of a nit-pick: Rock decks got their name from using Deranged Hermit and was originally called "The Rock and his Millions". I don't think it came from using the Plaguelord.
Hrm, I seem to be one of the only ones who actually hates the art. Colors are very similar to Guay's (another terrible art style) and it looks more like a collage made from a magazine than a painting (or whatever other medium). I'm glad they put it on a mediocre equipment so I don't have to worry about using something rather ugly.
I went 5-1-1, top 8 split. My rares were: Geth, Lord of the Vault, Putrefex, Sunblast Angel (foil), Argent Sphinx, Inexorable Tide, Kuldotha Forgemaster, and Memoricide.
The part that sucks is that we normally have 45-55 people show up for a pre-release and play 5-6 rounds. I anticipated this and had a date for ~7pm...of course 74 people show up and I go 5-0 easily. I had to postpone my date (with a very, VERY attractive girl) so I could play round six and ID round 7. Luckily my judge is cool and allowed me to just skip the top 8 and still collect prize. Even more luckily is that the rest of the top 8 decided to split so I get a larger prize than I expected.
It figures; most pre-release events I have nothing to do later and merely play mediocre. When I actually have a date later I do very well. Blah.

For realz.

The spoiler archives won't fully load for me. Every set I attempt to look at only shows the first ~42-57 cards but won't load the rest of them.
Also: Scars of Mirrodin doesn't even show as an option for spoiler archives.
