On another note: according to his backstory Lord of the Undead Dralnu of Urborg is a Lich Lord or a necromancer (i.e. a methethran/human wizard). Unless they change the flavor of the card he's not supposed to be a zombie

    Lich (l[i^]ch), n. A dead body; a corpse. [Obs.]

    Thanks Dictionary.com

Why do you think the original Lich enchantment drops your life to 0? A lich is a spellcaster who defies death by converting themselves into an undead state through black magic and necromancy.

It'll be "All other elves get...", I'm almost positive. If you guys wanna use the "lords will affect other lords, therefore this is wrong." logic, then Priest of Titania will need to be errataed to read "...for each elf you control that's not Elvish Champion." as Elvish Champion couldn't be counted in as an elf, therefore this means Priest of Titania, Timberwtch Elf, etc. no longer function the same.

I really don't know why... but I really have no response to this... just... wow...
Was Local Enchantment really that much of a problem?
Other than that I really don't see how this makes things easier... *blink* I'm honestly kind of stunned

    crap,

Only cards being reprinted will have creature type errata. Not the tons of other cards.

Eh, no harm no foul ^.^; We're all cool here... well.. as cool as people arguing what a Nekrataal is can be cool.

Take another look at your Kavu Chameleon there buddy.

Orochi are a real race as well, but they are creature: snake - whatever nonetheless

So are the Soratami... Oh Wai-

But the point of the Lords is that they inspire lesser members of their race by their presence. They should not inspire each other in that way.

Yes because cards have to make sense all the time. My Molder Slug seems to like wearing it's snazzy new Lightning Greaves, My Serra Angel seems to like flying face first into Fissures and my Atog has no qualms about devouring darksteel. Occasionally function takes precedence over flavor.

isn't there some from portal and stuff in the last core set that never had a bb version except in foil? Portal 3 was white-bordered wasn't it?

I believe that's correct, Portal: Three Kingdoms was printed with white borders. This always confused me since it kinda goes against the "Cards printed for the first time in a language must be black bordered." rule thingy.

So then with the Eel, Raider, Wurm and index all knocked down to the Core Game, I guess that opens up four slots for four new commons... wooooo..

    Quote from VestDan »
As I recall, the S-series was created for crap like Eager Cadet WotC needed for there "This is how we play Magic!" sets, didn't want to be alienating new players by telling them some of their first cards are illegal, but also didn't want to be alienating regular players by making us open Vizzerdrixes et al.

Yea that's the exact reason. After my sixth Trained Orgg I just stopped buying 7th edition all together.
Besides.. they had both Eager Cadet and Honor Guard in the same set.

I fully expect Nekrataal to not be a djinn, but at the same time I doubt it will be human. But yea, either way it'll still be one of my favorite cards.

MaRo clearly stated that slugs were extinct otherwise Molder Slug would have been a slug or more likely a slug beast, even though its flavor text implies that it is a slug.

    What about vampires?

Vampires, Angels and Dragons all fill that "Holy Christ that is a ginormous arcane being here to rip me to pieces and/or set me on fire." slot. They should be few and rare like that. it makes em more special.

Gnomes also are a very fitting creature type.

Keep in mind that Gnomes in Magic are mechanical, plus you had your Bottle Gnomes in Mirrodin and your Patchwork Gnomes in Odyssey.

But yea, my bet is with Merfolk. Of all the aquatic races they nixed, Merfolk were one of the few that made sense since they could switch to legged forms. (How the Cephalid, Coral Eel, etc made it through I dunno...)

Looking at "race" creature types that haven't been seen in a while you have:
Centaur - Last was produced by Centaur Glade in Onslaught.
Cephalid - Last was Cephalid Pathmage in Legions.
Djinn - Last were the cycle of Djinn in Invasion and Erhnam Djinn reprinted in Judgment.
Dwarf - Last was Dwarven Blastminer in Onslaught.
Efreet - Last was Fickle Efreet in Prophecy.
Fungus - Last in Fallen Empires.
Homarid - Last was Viscerid Drone in Alliances.
Kavu - Last were in Apocalypse.
Lhurgoyf - Last were in Odyssey
Licid - Last were in Exodus.
Merfolk - last was Ambassador Laquatus in Torment.
Minotaur - last was Minotaur Explorer in Odyssey.
Nightmare - Last were in Judgment.
Orc - Last was Orcish Settlers in Weatherlight (..yes I know, and Orcish Paratroopers
Orgg - Last was Butcher Orgg in Onslaught.
Phoenix - Last was Shivan Phoenix in Urza's Legacy.
Saproling - Last seen in Apocalypse.
Spike - last were in Exodus.
Thrull - last was Blood Vassal in Urza's Saga.
Treefolk - Last seen in Apocalypse.
Viashino - Last was Viashino Grappler in Invasion.

Looking at this list you can divide it into groups. Ones WotC almost definately wouldn't return, ones that don't look like they could fit flavor-wise, and then plausible returns.

In the mostlikely not you have:
Orcs - Wotc has stated that they probably won't use these, as not every fantasy game needs to have every generic fantasy race.
Homarids - Seriously.... you really want more Homarids?
Licids - These things still cause rule headaches occasionally. Check out Dominating Licid's oracle text
Lhurgoyf - Honestly, there's not too much more you can do with these guys.
Fungus - Yea... Keep telling your self these will return.

The nixed by flavor ones you have:
Viashino - Dominarian race of lizard folk. New lizardmen would likely be "Lizard Warrior", etc.
Treefolk - Not too much room for these guys in a city plane is there?
Centaur - pretty much same as Treefolk
    Kavu - Again, dominarian lizards...
Nightmare - aside from the original Nightmare, aren't these relegated to the Cabal's dementia creatures now?
Cephalid - highly doubt we'll be seeing our many limbed friends again soon.
Orgg - Plausible, but then you have to wonder the size of them...

    Then the really plausible ones:
Merfolk - Wizards knows these have a following and could technically fit. Aside from that remember how Merfolk decks are decent tourneywise. WotC has printed new Rebels and Mercenary recently to help add new blood to old rebel and merc builds so yeah.
Minotaur - Oh to live in the times of the Hurloon Minotaur's reign again.
Saproling - I cannot be the only one who misses these. Flavor wise they would fit as well.
Djinn & Efreet - another fan favorite, these can be assured will return one day.
Thrull - I'm sure the urban black mage will need something to sacrifice, so Thrulls are possible.
Dwarves - I'm hesitant to say these will appear in Ravnica, but again.. it's possible...
Phoenix - With Shard Phoenix's return to 9th, maybe we'll see a new addition to the family. Though if the rumor of Rukh Egg's errata follows we may loose it as a type before then.

I never said they were overly creative heh, just made up. Nekrataal has roots in the greek word Necros so yea. Just watch, we'll have a race of Slugfolk in Ravnica called Gastropoids

actually, on an Ask Wizards, they mentioned that Nekrataal is just a made-up word they used cuz it sounded cool...

Last I checked, Kavu, Lhurgoyf, Saproling, Cephalid, etc were made up words too. So really just cause something is made up like that doesn't mean it has no flavor meaning. As both The Squirle Master and I've said, Nekrataal are a type of djinn. It's just this is one of those useless lil facts about Magic that's not widely known so will probably be disregarded.

If I recall correctly from all the old listings from a while ago, a Nekrataal is a type of Djinn (along with True Djinn, Efreet, Marid and Ghoul, and all of which are in Arabian Nights.) While I sincerely doubt they'll recall this my guess is Nekrataal would be a Minion, as Horror is generally reserved for inhuman monsters like Vermiculos, Squirming Mass, Bloodcurdler, etc...

But yea, Welcome back Force ^.^
