I want to see Ice Storm, Sinkhole, Ravages of War, and Goblin Settler all foiled and wrapped up nice and neat.

Two of the four cards you just named linked to their promo foil versions. (Judge foils.)

I thought we finally had a list because of the activity in this thread.

Until someone linked to Steve Argyle's page with the sketches and the process, I was thinking something totally different. My first impression, judging by the white hair and the etherium sword, I thought this was esper graveyard art. Makes sense to me. Take an esper girl, zoom in enough, and now she's Thalia!

But nope. This piece was created to show Thalia all along. I like it, but mostly because of how unusual it is for Magic.

I made one change to the rules: calling yourself on a mistake is one point, and your opponent calling a mistake on you is 2 points. Play until <x> points. Because shuffling up for a new game everytime someone forgets a Soul Warden trigger is annoying. (Also, catching someone for the same thing multiple times is delicious.)

    My cards:
Ashen Ghoul (graveyard order matters, whose turn it is matters) / Nether Traitor (priority matters)
    Kira, Great Glass Spinner
    Hateflayer
    Lignify
    Nettle Sentinel
Diminishing Returns (heh heh heh) and Magus of the Jar
    Thieving Magpie
    Mulldrifter
Cowardice (creates many interactions and blockers)
Howling Mine / Anvil of Bogardan / Teferi's Puzzle Box combo. It matters who controls them!
    False Orders
    Spreading Plague
    Magistrate's Scepter (a trap)
    Fool's Tome (my favorite trap!)
    Soul Warden

    My favorite plays:
"During my draw step, Moonlace your Howling Mine."
    *opponent bins the artifact*
"Points for me. Do you know what Moonlace does?"

    "***, Mulldrifter."
    "Said nobody ever before."

It was probably graveyard art, is why.

I misread that as Kapsho Kittens. And it was way better.

Wow. I thought the creative team liked torturing her so much. I'm surprised they'd let that end.

Oh wait, Erebos what? Nope. They're still at it. Now she's trapped in Hell (again) but this time it's because one of her white-aligned friends betrayed her! See, I knew something was wrong. The art of Deicide has Elspeth winning.

Interesting I didn't know the history there...

So I would assume that the EV of VMA drafting cannot stay above $7 like ME4 for this set because of the larger interest and marketing. If that is the case then there are 30 mytics and if we use Odin's 16.75 average cost then it seems quite possible that top Mythics like Mishra's Workshop could still be over 30-40 tickets no?
Definitely. I'm keeping my Shops. If a mythic is needed as a one-of, it might drop, but it might rise for increased demand. If a mythic in VMA is needed as a 4-of then its VMA printing will do it no good. If you're getting one Workshop every 240 boosters and one Black Lotus every 477 boosters, then what good is it? Buy a playset of ME4 Shops today.

All of the mythics so far fall under one of two rules.
    1) Reprinted from another set where the card was not mythic. (Workshop, Upheaval.)
    2) Vintage Restricted (basically all of them)
    3) Dack Fayden

And even then the mythics under rule 1 are limited to the pillars*. The five pillars of Vintage are: Oath, Dark Ritual, Mana Drain, Workshop, and Force. (I think it's supposed to be Null Rod aggro, whatever.) Anyway, technically, all of the Vintage shells are already available online. Forbidden Oath, Gush Bond, Workshop and spheres, all of them. And Wizards wanted the iconic Vintage staples to be mythic.

*(And Upheaval, which is the second dumbest card of all time after Stasis. I bet they'd make Stasis mythic too.)

But you CAN calculate the EV of a pack by using the current market price of each reprinted card. You can get a solid value by ignoring the special slot and focusing on just the mythics and rares. The special slot is extra. Assuming that a foil of anything is at least as good as the non-foil then it does significantly affect the EV of a pack, just like it did for MMA. In order words, you can think of the special/foil slot as a low chance to randomly create a second rare. (Or Black Lotus.)

I'm working on the EV now, even with "zeros" for the unspoiled cards. (Assume they're all Kamigawa dragons, whatever.) I expect it to exceed $7 easily. Meaning, yes, on launch day (if this holds) you should absolutely crack $500 worth. Or at least try to draft it.

If even one piece of P9 hits $100 then the EV of the set will be ridiculous. There was a period of time towards the end of ME4 (the set with all 10 duals) that the price of the lowest dual was worth a redraft, and one cracked an average of .8 dual lands per draft. When that went nix tix people were getting paid to draft and drop. The only reason the economy didn't crash and cause $1 Seas is because for some reason only about 100 people were doing it. I suppose it was a form of work to sit there and fire drafts, rare draft, drop, find a bot...

Ichorid and Eureka being spoiled in half an hour by Wizards.

Can we get rid of the old JOU spoiler and put a VMA spoiler up there instead?

Ironroot Treefolk is not available online. So digital Legacy is invalid as a format? I could probably build a silly combo deck around Command Tower more easily than I could feature teh treefolk.

Back in the day when we were missing Red Elemental Blast and lots of staples were only available in Coldsnap precons, yeah we had issues. But every card that everyone has ever played in Legacy, even as a joke, is available online.

Except Adventurer's Guildhouse. But we can always lose another Community Cup to 'earn' that one.

My favorite idea is "As you draft ~, reveal it. Then search the top 5 cards of any other player's draft pile and choose a card from it. Put ~ on top of that player's draft pile and the chosen card on top of your draft pile."

    But that's not ban-worthy either.

    Stolen Mox (0)
    Artifact
As ~ enters the battlefield, ante an additional card at random from your sideboard. Remove ~ from your deck if you're not playing for ante.
T: add one mana of any color to your mana pool.

    Raise The Stakes (BB)
    Sorcery
This game counts for the whole match. (Your opponent may concede to prevent this effect from resolving. The winner of this game is awarded enough game wins to instantly win the match.)

Mostly I just want the words "If your opponent doesn't concede the game immediately..." on a Magic card again. Smile

    Goblin Espionage
    Sorcery
Draw three cards from your opponent's deck. (Don't reveal them. Return them after the game.)
Reveal ~ from your library during the pregame ceremonies. Your opponent may remove this card from your deck before playing.

There's probably lots of stuff they could do with a CONSPIRACY theme. It doesn't have to be a Bronze Tablet reprint.

He needs to pick up 15 more PT points to get back on the ballot.

Unless they changed it? He finished 4th with 38% of the vote. In every previous year if you were above a certain threshold then you were automatically on next year's ballot. Chris Pikula has been on the bubble for years. They may as well just define the cutoff to be "everyone who gets more votes than Pikula."

The only other name I'm concerned about is Mark Justice. Back in his day he did everything you could do with Magic cards. He probably just should've been inducted by Wizards when the HoF was created. Apparently this new generation doesn't know enough to vote for him.

Hi everyone, I'm pretty to new to all of this. I wasn't playing the game when the last FTV came out. I noticed all the others seem to exist on Magic Online, but you can't buy them anymore from the in-game Store. So how does that work? When this comes out, will it be on the Magic Online Store for the $40 MSRP? How long do they typically stay on offer there? I saw that Modern Masters boosters were only available for like 2 weeks, I think it was. Will they sell an arbitrary amount during a set span of time, or will they also have a maximum sold limit? How might this effect the trade value of Jace on the Magic Online market? It currently trades for over 40 tickets, but surely that would have to go down if you can acquire him for 40 in Foil along with 19 other cards, right?

It already did. Last night I was frantically trying to sell JTMS for 35. I eventually settled on 39 (actually a profit), 35, and 33. Every bot I went to was paying 17 or 20. There were people advertising higher prices, but they were out of tickets or flat out lying.

The way FTV works online, it's basically the same as a Planechase product. For a few months after it releases anyone will be able to buy as many as they want. WotC will 'print' more. Buy three every day if you want. We have to pay $4 per booster with no box discount. This is the only time MSRP works in our favor. :\

JTMS was about 44 before the announcement. I predict he'll land at 30-35 for a non-foil. And that's accounting for the JTMS celebrity factor. Look at Mox Diamond. It used to be 30. Hours after it was spoiled I sold mine. Now it's 12 for the original and 7 for the FTV version. I see history repeating itself since Relics was $35 to get a 30 tix card, and Twenty will be $40 to get a 44 tix card. Both only playable (but popular) in Legacy, as well.

Not quite what the thread is talking about, but the MTGO store used to do this.

The old MTGO store used to have fixed allocations, like paper cards. And it was possible for the store to sell out. (Change your draft plans!) Then more would have to be "printed" and so on. This was to match paper. It was silly, but it was done because the paper economy worked and they didn't want to risk screwing it up. (Haha.)

This old store also used to burn the allocated but unsold digital product when the set went offline. So the old sets (until around MED) have a stupidly small distribution. Available. Sold out. Available. Sold out. Available. Too late.

The new MTGO store has unlimited product and no allocations. This ruins the Vault series, but whatever. Way better.

the more I look at this artwork, the greater feeling of "this is Mana Drain" I get

It's NOT the whelk. Mana Drain is famous for draining. When they made a reference to it in Time Spiral, they made Draining Whelk. If they reprint Mana Drain then the art will be underwater.

    derp Force of Will

Again, no way. Both arts for FoW feature the color red. This doesn't even look like a counterspell.

Mom and Noble aren't bad guesses, but it's Control Magic for sure. The original Control Magic had some guy, in his study, shooting blue lightning out of his hands. And both of their foreheads are prominently marked.

Also, when it comes to picking which cards in the product get the new art commissioned, the cards that NEED it always go to the front of the line. (Black Vise, Ivory Tower, see a pattern?) Whatever they pick from 1993 and 1994 is getting new art if it doesn't already have it. So, Control Magic.
