Dack was also only available in a criminally underopened set, AND he's clearly the best card from the set. Chandra is good, but there are a lot of good cards in Kaladesh (it has a cycle of rare duals, which is always nice for value), plus people are going to be opening it for the lottery tickets. So I see the argument against her pulling a Dack as one of supply, not card quality.
Conspiracy wasn't criminally under opened, it has been in easily available until earlier this year it sold so well.
I bought 45 dollar repacks from dollar tree and pulled complete garbage all around. The best thing was a Chain of Vapor.
On the flip side, when I was a kid, and pokemon cards were all the rage, Dollar Tree had packs of base set, jungle, and fossil for a buck a pack. My dad flipped out and bought all the boxes they had. So it's not entirely impossible for legitimate packs to end up at dollar stores. I wish I knew the circumstances that lead to this though, I've never seen it since then.
The focus isn't the background so it shouldn't be an issue? It doesn't need to be the focus, but you can't just ignore it. Look at any piece of art ever. Actually you don't even have to go that far, just look at almost any other magic card. The focus of Liliana of the Veil was the Planeswalker, but they didn't just throw her on a lame, bland, and generic background. Pretending a flaw isn't a flaw isn't helping the artwork or the artist.
To those of you that like them, I am glad you do, but I think these are some of the worse card arts in recent history. The art has absolutely zero depth, it's just a person on a bland cloudy background.
I will never understand why people think Wizards would ever make a set that had all playable and valuable cards. That's not what makes a good draft format, and it's not going to keep the game healthy. If you want to play a game with little to no long term value that reprints all it's money cards at low rarity so the little kids don't feel left out, go play Yugioh. Wizards has to balance playability, collectability, and their own business value and that's way more than any average player cares about. Almost all anyone wants here is money cards for nothing and it will never happen.
The only reasons I didn't think they would ban eye was
1: Collateral damage to Tron and
2: Elrazi with 4 eyes is much worse than Eldrazi with 4 temples.
Box mapping isn't, but buying a box, getting lucky and opening an expedition, and then re-selling the packs will be. I know people who wont even buy packs if they see people open good things right before them out of the same box.
Westvale Abbey has unfortunately been hyped up to extremely unrealistic prices. Seems to have happened over night as well. It went from 3 to 20. I know the card is good, but 10 seems to be about the staying point for standard only rares, no matter how much they are played. I cant see this jumping into too many formats other than standard.
Those line up poorly vs counterspells and most removal. In sideboard games you are going to run into a more counters and removal. G. Revenge just runs over all those options.
This. Every Worldbreaker you cast definitively exiles something. There is a reason it pushed Ulamog numbers down and is a 4 of in almost every list before rotation. You deck is ramping into midrange threats, and that isn't very good. If your looking for advice on how to make the deck better, you need to pick ramp or midrange. If not keep doing what your doing as long as your having fun.
Revenge definitely isn't necessary. What you need are more World Breakers. I guess if you want to go budget you could use Gaeas Revenge in the board instead.
