This deck is pretty sick. I've run it a couple of times to great effect. It has a strong discard sub-theme, mixed with awesome card draw and quality threats. I understand that it can be a little expensive for some people, but I believe this build is truly competitive and has a lot of potential. This is the exact list that I will be running in two weeks at the 1K Champs in Montreal.
I played this deck almost exactly at last weeks FNM and it didnt work very well. The only difference is I didnt use Esper Charm and one less Abyssal Persecutor, and ran bone splinters and Sphinx of Jwar Isle.
Ive been thinking of using Zealous Persecution and Identity Crisis, but by the time I can play Identity Crisis they shouldnt have a hand and Zealous Persecution seems like over kill with BSA and AP.
My foil Marshal's Anthem Has damage all around the sides, but I have a foil Talus Paladin that looks fine accept for one corner, but that could have been rough package handling.
I pulled 4 Jaces and Traded a Verdant Catacombs for one jace, then subsequently traded that Jace for my 4th Baneslayer Angel. All of this was within two days of release. Peope are going Bonkers over this card.
If there were not so many issues with distribution this time around, I would say that Jace is going to be a pretty common pull, saturating the market and making him drop dramatically.
The chances of getting a particular mythic from the set are approx 1 in every 2 boxes. Thus far through openning 30 boxes they are averaging out correctly.
I thought that was the ratio for mythics in M10, but since this is a smaller set it would be better?
The only mythic I didnt get from my box IIRC was Novablast worm, and I got 2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
How is simply saying it's awful or bad or unplayable (which are all opinions) in any way shape or form helpful or constructive to this thread as a whole?
Its not unplayable, or awefull, or bad. It will be fun and interesting when it triggers. People think that you think you are creating the next Jund, but you know that this is just a fun casual deck. You said yourself its not Tier 1. I personally really hate when I get excited about a combo or interesting idea and people tell me how stupid it is.
I was excited that Mirror of Fate could work with Selective Memory, and my best friend told me it was a terrible idea and would never work in standard. Insulting ideas is like insulting intelligence, of course people will take slander to there creations personally.
Just my two cents.
....and it is the internet, so feelings and personalization don't matter to many here.
If need be, you send Nighthawk's damage at AP to kill it off.
No sir. Damage re-directed with harms way must be dealt to you or a permanent you control. The only way I can see this being possible in type 2 is with Soul's fire and then why wouldn't you just target the Abyssal Persecutor in the first place?
I pulled all crap from WW, and nothing really playable. I managed a white red ally burn deck, but it didnt win at all.
I pulled two fetch lands, and traded one for a jace mindsculptor, the other for a bazaar trader and a creeping tar pit. I also pulled a kor that puts weapons on the field, and traded her for a celestial colonade, which I then traded for a another creeping tar pit. The last trade I made of the night was a Hypnotic Specter for a Wrexial, the risen deep. That trade was way one sided but the guy was making up for a poor trade his binder buddy did on me.

Have fun with my Deathmark, Doom Blade, and every other removal in existence that hits Baneslayer and not Abyssal Persecutor.
Baneslayer Vs. Abyssal Persecutor
isn't a valid point.

Trace of Abundance[/CARD] gives the forest shroud. No targeting by an Arbor Elf or anything else will be done.

Simply the best possible way to get rid of a Abyssal Persecutor is with bone splinters
