If this is going to be Standard playable, it's not because of the flash, it's because of the untap, which allows control decks to tap out on their turn (probably for this card specifically) and still have mana up on their opponent's turn for counters/Sphinx's Revelation
This creature is fairly interesting, but I find the wording of its first ability to be confusing: how could X ever be any value other than 6? A person shall always spend 6 mana on X, shall they not? Or is that number variable in the chance that a player reduces the cost, such as through the usage of Urza's Incubator?
In this case, it's the opposite. If you're using this guy as your Commander in a game of Commander, he costs an extra 2 for each time he's been in the command zone.
Dungeon Geists was close to being a card before it just got totally outclassed by Restoration Angel. Putting that effect on a cheaper dude that is in a supported tribe in eternal formats definitely helps its chances of getting there.
i'm not sure about this but isn't rancor countered if the creature you try to enchant is killed before it resolves?
blightcasters effect should resolve first, the creature is gone and rancor is put into your graveyard.
I'm pretty sure he meant put Rancor on your dude, kill their dude.
Someone needs to teach that feelingsy sliver loving dude how twitter works.
Anywho, good to know that they'll likely be in all five colors! No sense in taking years off your life stressing before WOTC goes hardcore with actual full spoilers.
Hmm point. Does prime time get in there for Wolf Run Ramp in 2011 though? Or was it 2012...
Before there was Wolf Run Ramp, there was a Valakut deck in standard that was the "deck to beat" for a little while that centered around more or less the same concept, except the deck used Prime Time and Valakut triggers to kill.
Re: Unflinching Courage vs. Armadillo Cloak - No one is giving out awards for 'ingenuity.' There is a certain sub-sect of player that is going to hold on to the knowledge of some silly tricks with the old Armadillo Cloak rules, but really, it's 2013. Have fun being that person shaking a finger across an EDH/Commander table trying to stretch archaic rules to get one over on someone who just jumped into the format.
This card is simplly fun. Fun, fun, fun. This card is why Magic exists. We comment on card playability in particular formats, but don't forget why this game was originally created. Fun gameplay through strong flavor. This card is a pure example of that fun. Can't wait to run it.
Seriously. All this all day. How could anyone be upset that a card like this exists?
People complain about Wizards not being in touch with what's going on with players, but psuedo-Morphling and psuedo-Armadillo Cloak on the same day hit me right in the feels.
Anyways, I'm always happy to have another Murkfiend Liege/Seedborn Muse in my Experiment Kraj edh.
This set looks AWESOME.

Not for nothing, this guy "combos" with the Gyre Sage that you may or may not have used to ramp into it. Cute, right?
I don't understand how anyone can argue this guy's power level.

Let's not forget Call to the Kindred! EDIT: NEVERMIND!
Seriously can't wait to get my hands on multiples of this card, finally.

Because I read the card wrong I thought it was an ETB effect. It's more ridiculous than I thought.
