    Hah, neat. Good card, too.

Ball Lightning, that can trade 2 for 2 for zero mana on the defensive? And doesn't just get nutted by a single removal spell? And is actually castable in two color decks?

They really aren't worried about completely usurping old cards, are they?

Here's what I got so far for a Bolas's Citadel combo deck. No egg recursion, just straight to the Citadel as fast as possible. Pretty consistent turn 4 gold fish, with some turn 3, rarely fizzles with London mulligan + Serum Powder.

With 11 lands and tons of redraw/shuffle, it's highly improbable that any fizzling will happen once Bolas's Citadel is on the board. The dice factory mana (cornucopia, chalice, coretapper) is both explosive in the early game and important during the combo as it amounts to free mana and free spell count. You need to set up the Aetherflux before you run out of life, so sometimes Reshape x=4 needs to be cast. Serum Powder, Mox opal, Reshape x=0 for Lotus Bloom, and the dice factory all profit mana when cast from library, while Chromatic Star and Conjurer's Bauble help put a Reshape from the top into the hand (and Shredder can nab from graveyard). Otherwise, during a combo, a Reshape on top will usually be x=0 for a Darksteel Citadel out of the library, to reduce the land count.

Fortunately, with Serum Powder and London mulligan, finding a Citadel or Reshape in an opening hand isn't too hard, you just need to mulligan liberally. Need to be careful with Serum Powder -- need 1 Aetherflux Reservoir in library, as well as 1 Bolas's Citadel, and probably 1 Watery Grave too.

Anyways, that's all I have for 0 games played versus opponents. The goldfishing is fun though.

So the happily ever after ending is real after all.
This story is a utter trash.
Apocalypse and Time Spirale are masterpieces of drama and tragedy compared to this.
This war was a joke the whole time.

I'm actually kind of shocked at just how negatively you're taking this card. Gideon's dead for real, dude.

  • posted a message on Selling MTGO Collection
With this weeks announcement, Arena is being pushed to the forefront, rendering the old platform useless. Youre pretty much up a creek with no paddle

I don't understand, Wizards is just going to render the entire MTGO economy useless? Aren't people going to try and scoop up sets to redeem for IRL cards?

Surely they have a transition plan in place, or else it's going to be chaos on the secondary market.

    Hi All,

I was just curious what are the best options people have to sell their MTGO collection for Cash?

I've been looking around but all the big traders from what I've seen do not appear to be buying collections for $ anymore.

    Any advice?

And does anyone know why the change? I've sold online cards for money before, I'm caught off guard by this change.

    -Doug

I also tried to sell my online collection, but was told about major competitive changes, including a tremendous investment on the Arena platform, which caused a lot of people to panic-sell their MTGO collections. Dealers are dealing with a massive influx. Coincidentally, I just wanted to sell my collection cuz I really need some money right now. So the timing could *not* be any worse for me personally.

Saw in the wiki article that there are only 4 of each promo release... what's the use of even making the promos known. No one (outside of the 4 who own them) will use them. They are not aloud in any format (would your play group even allow them?).

Feels like another way for the select few to say "Na-na-na-na, looook what I have..." I dunno... can't wrap my mind around the notion of making them known.

I know players complain about everything, but this is pretty next-level

I just watched a video of Corbin Hosler playing a Mono-Red Token Combo deck for Modern, and I think one of these in the deck would be really good. Nice way to keep the mana following. The deck has 4 x Reforge the Soul.

I also watched that. This card immediately made me think of that deck, but then I thought of Saffron Olive's "turn 2 tokens" aka 8-whack with Pact of the Titan. I wonder what kind of turn 2 nonsense can be cooked out of this wacky looking thing in a similar shell...

Since this particular build is light on turn 1 plays I think Llanowar Reborn is a fine bit of spice to get the steam ball rolling on turn 2. This deck looks pretty blistering fast on paper, and a two drop with the flexibility of explosive mana and explosive p/t looks quite at home.

As far as cheaty decks go, it's a pretty fair card. It's a great support card for larger cubes that want to keep those archetypes from being extremely fringe. If you like Volrath's Shapeshifter or Shifty Doppelganger, there's no reason you won't love this.

So, no doubt the card is good and cubeable in a power cube.
What I'm curious about is how good will it be assuming you cannot grab ancestral recall or time walk with it?

If it's not, I'm not a huge fan of a card that makes your already broken decks more broken, but won't see much play outside of that.
I expect the utility of grabbing a spell that suits the scenario is worth it, but I'm not sure. Grabbing X spells, or a swords to plowshares, or a chart a course.

I'm gonna test it , but if it turns into a "Do I have recall/timewalk/mind twist? Play it. Do I not? Sideboard" I'll cut it pretty fast.

I'm quite certain the floor is going to be really, really hard to miss. Especially in blue

Blue always seems to have an array of cool things to do at 6. I guess it just depends on how willing you are to slot something new into it. I think it warrants a test, getting to deal with two creatures every turn seems insanely frustrating to play against, and really easy to untap with. The -2 is awesome too.

Very Recruiter-ish, but I think this is borderline even for a powered cube. There aren’t too many high end spells in 1-2 cmc. Although they search for different things, I’d much rather cube Trinket Mage over this in a powered setting. I also think Supreme Will does a lot of what this card wants to do. Recruiters are proactive cards in proactive decks, Spellseeker is a proactive tutor that wants to be in reactive decks.

Disagree, I don't think there's any pack 1 situation where I would pick Trinket Mage over Spellseeker, even if I was rocking a full suite of power rocks and engineered explosives....tutoring for a Recall, Twist, or Time Walk at best...and at worst getting a removal spell or countermagic....you can use it proactively or reactively...Trinket Mage just seems severely limited in scope by comparison (really, the best you can do aside from mana is EE or Walking Ballista).

Spellseeker is so hard to have not be good. I look forward to drafting this card many, many times

I like that it's not just doing something different, it's doing something different that doesn't suck (I'm still not convinced Captain Lannery Storm isn't cubeworthy, yet I never see it around...). The bear rate isn't as good as other red 2's, but the extra mana will make curving out with it very exciting. I wouldn't hesitate to cut a bland 2-drop like War-Name Aspirant/Borderland Marauder/Gore-house Chainwalker etc.

These cards remind me just how much I didn't miss the extremely over-simplified designs of core sets. Still don't know why they went with this direction. Hopefully these commons aren't too indicative of what the uncommons and rares are going to look like, but I have a bad feeling it's just gonna be Serra Angels and Vizzerdrixes
