Thank you for your input. I simply love Tsabo's decree! The only thing that I'm afraid is that he does have Kalastria highborne/card] and Bloodghast as sideboard options.... which I have NO idea why! Kalastria is just insane against mass removal when u got mana open. Take a HUGE chunk of health while his dumb vampires go down? Then play a land to get Bloodghast back? BAH!!! Hence the slight hestiation to go for mass removal.
I don't mind going for some pure color hate. Hence the Celestial Purge in my white knight deck. Just not involve the entire deck around that...
I do like Ensaring Bridge though. He would have to hit me with weenies if he wants to try to attack. The only thing that I gotta worry about is that I stall the game long enough that he starts stealing my guys with Captivating Vampire.
But I think I might just end up slapping all my single target removal to end his dumb vampire rampage.
Alternately, you can use Humility in your mono white deck, works well with elspeth too.
Engineered Plague doesn't seem to be enough with all those creatures he has to pump his dudes into threats. I do like Humility as a suggestion. Only problem is the price range... not sure how much I hate him that I want to blow that much cash for it.
He claims that "if the spell isn't a creature, it isn't worth playing." unless of course it helps me crazy like Dark ritual. I would LOVE to make some sort of black deck that will beat the pants out his STUPID vampire deck.
I just saw a great black spell. Sudden Spoiling. My question is... for instance he tries to steal one of my guys with Captivating Vampire, I bust out this... will the effect still go through and I lose a guy? Can I use this when he attacks me so tha all his vampires fall from the sky and become 0/2's?
As yall can see it is very aggro-intensive. It deals so much damage so fast thanks to Dark Ritual and Lake of the Dead. Then just incase I manage to stall the game somehow, I eat Gatekeeper of Malakir to sac a dude or one of my creatures turns on me while he steals them with Captiviating Vampire. The removal is quite light except what I just mentioned and freaking Kalitas that blows up my guys then turns it into a vampire. Then of course... Vampire Nocturnus.
Aside from making a deck that is pure mono-black hate... what sort of strategies can I go for? Mass creature removal? Burn? I also run Merfolk too without Force of Will but I do got Aether Vial and other good counterspells. But it's just so hard to counter or deal with anything with that much explosive mana accel. So... any ideas to help me deal with this crap?
Disappointing. I think card]Leonin Abundas[/card] is superior. Why? Artifact Untapping shennigans. With Indomitable Archangel you essentially locked yourself out if you want to use Tezzeret, voltaic key and the 20 zillion other ways to untap artifacts to decimate your opponent with artifact craziness.
I will give it credit it is a beater but I don't like how it can negate your untapping strategies. Not worth it. This mythic will be dirt cheap. Probaly a bit more expensive than Lorthos, the Tidemaker price-wise in terms of mythic junk.
This new SoM knight is pretty bad but just by looking at the card, a few things can be learned from it...
1) Leonin are back with their equipment love.
2) New Skyhunters, meaning Flying knights
3) The flavor text quotes "Ranya, skyhunter captain" which mean we are probably getting a legendary knight! hopefully one that give some sort of card advantage...
No such luck. At least for this expansion. There is only one knight and it's Kemba's Skyguard of Fail. Perhaps the next set we will get some better knights. I am so sad... maybe we can depend on better equipments?
Thank you Clutchy for choosing better words for my argument. Now that I think about it, since there is another instance of "Vampires" t could also be an effect as opposed to a simple pumping lord. For example:
Or... it can be as lame as Quag Vampires, which has "Quag Vampires" in the card name and it has no interaction with Vampires.
Perhaps there will be more knights in the further expansions. There isn't much equipment on Scars yet that makes me want to grab them quite yet for additional firepower for my knights.
As for the Vampires tidbit, i have doubt that it's another lord. There is already a creature out there called "something something vampires". It could just be...
"Whenever something something Vampires attacks you get this" type abilities as opposed to a pumping lord.
The only thing I can hope for is that the Orb isn't working properly. Well I'm glad that there is only one vampire but knowing Wizards, it will be something good. Vampires get at least a goodie or two every expansion since M10. Also sad at the ZERO merfolk. Of course I am liking the artifact love and will be nice additions to add better options to my Tezz's Duel deck but everyone and their mom's is going to start making one so prices are gonna be high for that haha.
And it's Kemba's Skyguard. I was hoping for more Skyhunter-esque knights for SOM but looks like these Cats will be either Clerics or Soldiers. What a shame. I didn't know where else to post this. just kinda wanted to vent in hopes of added some new life to my knight deck.
Well Platinum Emperion is a bit safer to get reckless with. If they pop your Platnium Angel and you got -100 life, well your dead. At least with Emperion, your life total will stay stuck whatever it is. This will give some pretty decent options for cards that require you to lose life whenever you do an ability. For standard there isn't that many options.
Devour in Shadow: Destroy whatever the hell you want without the drawback.
Now the one card I am curious if it will have any interaction is Eternity Vessel. It says your life can't change from "gains" and "loses" [by damage or loss of life], but Eternity Vessel simply turns your life total into that. Am I just hoping for too much that there may some sort of janky interaction with this card?
I was expecting more broken'ness to be honest. Then again though it does put your opponent in quite a spot with her ultimate and she still lives to tell about it. I think she will cost as much as Gideon did when he first came out and stay there for a bit.
My Target randomly stocks the MTG stuff whenever they feel like it. I don't think they stock new product on release dates too often but we shall see.
I sure hope so!
I went to Wal-mart and Target to find nothing today. I asked and they didn't know when "that product" will arrive. I did go to my local game shop and get them at the standard MSRP though! Wanted to buy 5 but he limited me to 4. At least he was nice enough to not raise the value like some stores have been doing.
I bought 4 for $20 bucks a pop at my local game shop. Of course luck was by my side because as I got there, the UPS guy JUST got there with the shipment.
Tried to get a 5th box for a friend but the owner was like "come on guy... don't be greedy. I need to spread the love to the other customers!"
But yes... the box art is very sexy. I am very tempted to not open one of them or two of them just in case they sky-rocket later like Jace/Chandra duel deck.
Other ideas: Paladin En-Vec or Knight of Dawn as possible targets for my own Pariah. With Knight of Dawn I can absorb damage from all the colors minus white. Would benefit me greatly from getting overrun by the stupid mana ramp of Green/Black. With Paladin En-Vec I can simple laugh at black/red all day even without the help of my indestructible ladies Knight Exemplar.
Unfortunately there is no easy way of moving Pariah onto something like Stillmoon Cavalier so that I am also protected from black/white. I may just go the Paladin En-Vec route to have better protection against things that get too fast for me like Red Elementals / Black Vampires with Dark Ritualx4.

4x Vampire Nocturnus
4x Guul Draz Assassin
4x Blood Seeker
4x Vampire Nighthawk
4x Gatekeeper of Malakir
4x Vampire Lacerator
2x Ascendant Evincar
2x Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet
17x Swamp
Spells
4x Dark Ritual

What can I do to combat this? Is 12 single target removals overkill? Path to Exile, Celestial Purge, Swords to Plowshare? I currently run a Knight deck with stars such as [cardknight exemplar[/card] and Elspeth.
Aside from making a deck that is pure mono-black hate... what sort of strategies can I go for? Mass creature removal? Burn? Feast of Blood and Captivating Vampire.

[Information based on current Orb].
Now if you go out of standard [cuz standard is so BORING. At least to me], you get some decent goodies. Mostly black.
[card]Rain Of Daggers/[card]: One-sided wrath without worrying about kill yourself.
Shauku, Endbringer: Path to Exile on legs.
Lich's tomb: Probaly win more but it does benefit from Emperion.
Phyrexian Arena and Bitterblossom. Crazy card advantage and creature advantage without the life loss.
Devour in Shadow: Destroy whatever the hell you want without the drawback.

The possible outcomes:
1) Pariah a crucial creature ex: Vampire Nocturnus
2) Pariah an indestructible knight or better yet Zhalfirin Crusader so that I am able to redirect damage.
Other ideas: Paladin En-Vec or Knight of Dawn as possible targets for my own Pariah. With Knight of Dawn I can absorb damage from all the colors minus white. Would benefit me greatly from getting overrun by the stupid mana ramp of Green/Black. Another cool thing is if stall the game long enough with Pariah I can simply Wrath of God / Day of Judgment my opposition away. Sun Titan can also help bring back Pariah just in case it dies.
2x Sun Titan
4x Knight Exemplar
3x Knight of the White Orchid
4x Student of Warfare
1x Kinsbaile Cavalier
3x Knight of Meadowgrain
4x Stillmoon Cavalier
3x Zhalfirin Crusader
3x Pariah
Land
2x Emeria, the Sky Ruin
19x Plains
Spells
4x Brave the Elements
4x Path to Exile
4x Wrath of God
F* vampires. Thank you. Guess I will have to use leyline of sanctity to defend against their stupid crap. Thank you.
