This card is a test. A test for sodium. Sometimes you have players that hate each other so much that this will go as how wizards designed it. Cruel Entertainment. Then... against level headed opponent's they will just be like "ok what do you want me to do for payback on this punk that cast this on us?"
Not as far as I'm aware. It's more a general mockup based on what we can decipher, though it's likely that she's a Soldier or Warrior, and I can dream that she'd be a barbarian.
It would make flavor sense if she was a barbarian. She is from Baldovain(sp) time and that has loads of barbarian themes.
Saskia is great. She basically cleaves if you go wide to other players. Someone has a crazy pillowfort? Fine I choose you then hit the guy with no defenses. Then God help that person when you are the only one left and Saskia chose you... pain train incoming!
The Meletis kings is hard to read but it's definetly beginning of something.... each player may put something from their hand. Given that it's a group hug theme that doesn't surprise me.
Now for the ogre wizard... that's a lot of text. I think I see some ( ) so maybe cascade?
To recap, there are five decks for Commander (2016 Edition). Each deck will focus on four colors. Each deck will contain fifteen new cards (although note that some new cards may appear in more than one of the decks). Among these fifteen new cards, each deck will have:
*A four-color legendary creature (new characters but from known worlds) printed at mythic rare
*An allied two-color legendary creature with partner (characters from Magic's past that haven't yet been printed as cards) printed at mythic rare
*Two enemy two-color legendary creatures with partner (characters from Magic's past that haven't yet been printed as cards that are creatively linked to one another), one printed at mythic rare and the other at rare
Emphasis is mine
Yes unless they make him into a two color pair... which makes little sense. Sorta glad to bury that too. People took over the Commander thead with Urza color theories.
I wonder if this little guy is from Tarkir? Looks like he is playing around with Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury brood. I love this card actually. He is might make a decent stand alone commander. Maybe mix in Green to get some big spells in.
The partner commanders look rather weak on their own and even together (with the ones present so far) so I think Wizards is going to tread carefully to make sure thathat having two commanders won't be a simple one -two punch combo deal.
I am a bit disappointed if this is what they were saying was so easy that they should have done it years ago... players have been messing around with both Syggs or both Mirris as "partner" commanders for years.
You can just partner with a black general just to splash black to get access to Notion Thief and Leovold, Emissary of Trest and just run a bunch of wheels.
Yup! That is what I was thinking. Rather mean.. you get basically all the draw effects and Leo will screw them out of it.
Awww...
I really hope the previews will be worth it, because I am really starting to be not happy about this...
Well, a valid guess is that we will have the Nephilims in these decks, so they should be in the spoilers anyway
They should be re-errated long long ago.
But 0 spoilers is not good. I think the hype is long dead and people even forgot that some C16 is coming out.
Also I am not sure if they will include all Nephilims in all decks. Maybe they will, but if the nephilim is completely out of the idea of the whole deck, will they put him in?
We were at quite the Magic high lately. Shadows, Conspiracy, then Kaladesh. Then... big gap of nothing. Like not even a hint or some sort of designers blog about what they have in store. Give me anything aside from "this will blow your mind." They say that everytime. Sometimes they are right... sometimes they are so freaking wrong (Megamorph anyone?)
One thing I do hope for is that whatever this new idea is, can translate to non commander products. A new way to determine color identity without the usual color symbol in mana cost or activation cost. Granted we might not get it but... the way Maro hyped it up does make me excited as well as skeptical.
I for one hope the Nephilim don't show up. They... are pretty bad. That is a waste of space. There is no huge demand for these cards aside from just having an errta text saying they can be used as commanders. I am talking about the origin original versions. If they make better versions of them then fine.
I'm surprised there was no slip ups this year... very tight in terms of having no leaks. At least last year there was a slight slip with the Boros general. I hope we get a good preview and not some whack preview... of a preview.
It would make flavor sense if she was a barbarian. She is from Baldovain(sp) time and that has loads of barbarian themes.
But solider and warrior have better game synergy.
